[TOOL] Another Altcoinstalks Notification Bot!

After a little from PX-Z, I was able to launch myself another notification bot.

It is simpler than PX-Z solution, as it doesn't require telegram (personally, i don't use telegram).

This bot uses the search native function from the forum to search for posts from users where they mention or quote you.

This bot is inspired in LoyceV Notification Bot from bitcointalk,  which I use everyday for years.

It is very simple to use.

Just add your username in the ?user parameter, like below:

https://bitcoindata.science/altcoinstalk/notification.php?user=bitmover




Then you will see your notifications for the last 3 days (i did that small window so that it doesn't use a lot of server resources)

Thanks Bitmover, it's working fine and it is good tool for those who want to get notifications outside of telegram. Honestly I feel more comfortable with telegram which gives real time notification while in this bot we have to first open site and then check mention details one by one.

I appreciate your work for this forum. Now we have two notification bot. Telegram and online site. Now need specific board , phrase and Thread notification.

@admin, can we add a similar feature right on the forum? I think members need to receive notifications when someone quotes/mentions them. Currently there is almost no way to do this. We have Show new replies to your posts but it's really difficult to track, it shows new comments on topics that a member have interacted with, not that member has been quoted/mentioned by someone.

Now i wonder whether bitmover's bot cache the result to reduce altcoinstalks database load.

This is interesting, although I am a supporter of the Telegram bot because notifications make it easier for me instead of checking a page.

As far as I know, Loyce creates this page only on request and does not collect for all users. I think there is no need for it here either, and I believe that the admin will also support it if there are fewer requests.
I did not check whether the requests on the server increased, but if there are any limits, please inform me, so if I have the possibility to raise some of the resources, I will do it.

Thanks a lot Bitmover for creating a simple bot like this. This is the bot that I would love to use and it's great to have a bot like this. I hope it won't stress the server to much extent. It's a very useful bot and at the same time it's a simple one too. Thanks once again to Bitmover, It's just the first version of the bot I hope in future we will see some improvements in the bot.

I am thinking about scraping the posts text when the user is mentioned, so that the user could read the posts within the bot page.

I think there's room for improvement but that can happen if you scare the posts of the users, but I don't know if that will add extra load on the server or not. It would be much better if the bot can scrape all the posts into bots page.

I'm not sure if that activity will add burden on the server of the forum but if it doesn't adds much burden then you can also scrape the mentions of the all users who might want to use that bot.

The bot should scrape the posts of those users on its page who are active users of the bot and it should also have some kind of notification system where user gets notified for the new mentions.

Thanks bitmover, great as usual, well done.

A wonderful tool, I tried  it the results were very good, even though I am used to using the Telegram Notification Bot in the Bitcoin Talk Forum, as I use Telegram for the Windows desktop version and I received notifications immediately while browsing the forum.

In any case, great work and a really useful tool. This is what I really want because I suffer from the problem of notifications. I think it will be very necessary for all members of the forum.

I've tested it and it works, absolutely amazing, though not without a downside, and the downside is that, one would have to keep this in their Browser tab at all times, or bookmark, which is one.
Second downside is that, this is not really a notification since one would possibly have to visit the tab, refresh it to find new replies, quotes or mentions.

On this note, I would still prefer the telegram bot since I get a real notification even while I am not on the app but have my internet connection on.

For those who do not use telegram, this is definitely a good alternative, but for those of us who use telegram, the altcoinstalks notification bot on telegram is much better (my personal opinion).

Very good work bitmover!
I don't like using telegram because it's full of scammers and cheater, so I will consider using your tool instead.
Are you logging and saving any information from users on your end, like IP addresses or something else?
