Title: Is crypto in danger should I sell at loss or will it recover?
Post by: benchilwell21 on December 13, 2021, 07:02:46 PM
Hi guys,

I bought crypto before the huge price drop happening. I have about £2k invested in crypto (Solana, Cardano and Shiba)  and about £4k invested in stocks.

Currently my total crypto is showing at about £600 loss so value is £1400 at the moment and I invested £2,000.

So my question is do you think 2022 will be a better year or crypto or do you think prices will continue to keep dropping. Do I sell at a loss now or will thinks pick up in 2022 and I will make over the £2,000 invested or will prices do you think continue to plummet?

What would you do?

Just to clarify that I am willing to hold crypto for up to 5 years if there is a chance that my initial investment will double at least?

You should never ask anyone what to do with your investments, it is your money. Personally and from years of experience, I would expect the market to continue to fall, but there will come a point where it will rise again. In crypto, patience is one of the most important things to have and most of all not to be afraid. I recommend that you read everything you can about "cycles" in the cryptocurrency market, it will help you understand many things.

This is a decision you have to make, all crypto coin prices collapse and you have 2 options, sell loss or sell profit, no good advice other than hodl, I see you have a list of top coins, take a look at Bitcoin and ethereum history, you will get answers to your questions. not investment advice

I think I should remind you that crypto investment is always at risk. It means to say, you must be well prepared to enter this kinda volatile investment where fluctuations is real at any moment.

Avoid impulsiveness without enough strong proof that you will hit the target. Be careful to investment whether for short or long term run.

Since you are planning to HODL on with your chosen digital assets for 5 YEARS, then maybe you should not be worrying that much the many things happening in the market right now. The same situation - and even worse - happened in the past and eventually the market recovers to the delight of those who never gave up hodling on. Nobody can be sure of what can be in 2022 but for the first quarter of 2022 there can be more likelihood of a continuing weak crypto market but things will be picking out as we head into the 2nd quarter...but this is just my speculation as I am certainly not Nostradamus.

Many people say that this is a correction. But I am sure that this is a common manipulation in the market by the whales and speculators themselves. Of course, I want to believe that these falls will soon pass, but the crypto community has nevertheless begun to drain its assets, perhaps these are ordinary throw-ins to stir up speculation in the market, and perhaps these falls will last for a long time .. Unfortunately, no one will give you an unambiguous answer, you yourself you will have to make a decision here, if you are already incurring considerable losses, then you should hope for a market recovery.

Do you know what happened to investors that invested back in ATH of 2017 and refuse to sell, held their ground till Bitcoin came back up to $60+? Guess I don't have to tell you the answer to that. You might have faith when Investing in cryptocurrencies and know not to invest much in projects that haven't really made their mark in the space yet. Shiba, I have some trust in but not as much as SOL and Cardano but you just need to have some patience.

I believe that the cryptocurrency will fall and rise in price more than once. Therefore, what is happening must be perceived simply as a temporary drop in prices in this market. Promising altcoins will soon rise in value as there are no problems for the further development of the cryptocurrency. Newbies always have similar doubts every time a cryptocurrency falls. Everything has its time. We do not know exactly when our cryptocurrency will rise in value, but it will definitely happen. Therefore, you should not now sell cryptocurrency at a loss.

Don't consider this financial advice but I would not sell at this loss, the whole crypto market has been down lately but it's probably temporary. In the long run, prices should pick up again. However, if I were you I would diversify a little more - this slump could also be a good opportunity to buy some other coins such as bitcoin or ethereum, and the more coins you are in, the smaller the chances of suffering long-term losses.

If you are willing to hold the coin for 5 years, I think you have nothing to worry about when you see the market is in the red.
You already have coins and I believe you have a target selling price for each coin you own, never sell a coin at a low price if you buy it at a high price, just wait until the crypto market situation starts to recover and sell at your profit.

This is not a financial advice, but I suggest to look on the historical graphs of cryptocurrencies and hold. They show, that quite often all the alts recover their prices in time, and show some gains. Only SHIB is looking confusing, as it is a meme token, and their price depends a lot from the mood of its community.
Title: Re: Is crypto in danger should I sell at loss or will it recover?

Of course, Solana and Cardano are not worth worrying about. These are coins with high potential for development and growth, but SHIB, in my opinion, is not suitable for long-term retention.
In general, as we have seen more than once, it makes no sense to sell cryptocurrency when it just went down for a correction. After a while, the market will grow again and potential coins and tokens will always be ahead.

The crypto market is extremely volatile, if you are in heavy losses it may be best to wait for it to recover. Although that may take a few months (or not, you never know :P).

I totally agree with you and to the OP, Patience is a virtue. You MUST have patience when you are in the cryptocurrency market and must understand how the market moves and know when to enter or not. If you are always reacting to every market price action without knowledge, you will lose more than you think.

In fact, we do not incur any losses in a falling market unless we start selling at these low prices. Therefore, you just do not need to panic and wait until the market recovers and continues to rise in price. There are no objective reasons for the current fall, which means that soon there will definitely be a next wave of growth. True, in view of the fact that the Christmas and New Year holidays will begin soon, the current price stagnation may drag on for several months.

Consider the investment as a long term investment. Don't sell now the crypto market will bounce back very soon. In crypto investment, patient is the key to winning. You will laugh very soon if you can hold the assets.

Don't panic and be rash in making decisions when the market is down, keep thinking positively, hold your emotions, and check market conditions as often as possible. Instead of selling coins at cheap prices, this is a fatal mistake that you will later regret. You will only get a loss from this and the efforts that have been put in so far have been in vain. It is better to hold on and hold the coin for a while until the market conditions stabilize and recover.

Participants of this market, who have been working with cryptocurrency for a long time, have not asked this question for a long time. A periodic fall in prices in this market has long been regarded as a common occurrence, which cyclically alternates with a rise in prices. Therefore, the current state of the cryptocurrency market with its 10 percent drop does not cause any concern. Moreover, you should not now sell cryptocurrency at a loss. If prices have dropped, this is the best time to buy, not sell, cryptocurrency.

Holding for 5 years of course your investment will be double or maybe in multiple times just sell your coins when the market will bullish. You should be not worry this situation of the market because you are willing to hold for long time.. Maybe you should buy more if the market will go bearish season..

I guess you are just confused regarding how the cryptocurrency market behaves recently? But I believe also that before you enter into the crypto market you already know the risk associated with it. just notice this, if your crypto holdings price and value has declined it doesn't mean that you already losing it because as long as you hold it and it was intact you have still a big chance to recover those lose in value. so just hold.

if you believe you will recover why do you have to sell at a loss, I personally prefer to wait until it recovers, with a note that the coins that I have do have a good reputation value, if the hype coins are minus 10% all I will sell it doesn't hurt to be 0 assets that I have on that coin

If the price goes down then in this case do not act quickly as you know that emotions as well as decision made in hasten can increases the percentage of your loss. So think in calmness and do what is good for you and in which case you can make money. Actually holding of coin is thought to be superior in contrast with selling at low price and loss money.

You have to be patient now. You have two gem coins in your portfolio one is Solana and the other is Cardano and both coin has huge potential to rise in the future. Don't think to sell in the loss. If you can hold it for 5 years that would be an amazing strategy and will prove to be a good profit-making. I have huge expectations from the year 2022 and I would suggest you just hold tight because here who make money who has the patience and that is the golden rule of the crypto market.

Dealing in crypto isn't just about following trends, it is imperative to know there's usually ups and down and the market swings like a pendulum. Learning is more effective especially when things tends to go into the wrong way. I have been in this position for a long time too. Always thinking of selling at lost and walking away until I started using Bitay. You might be making good decision or not. But whatever the case may be. You need to learn more. This opportunity is being presented by Bitay exchange to over 700k KYC users on its platform with the Bitay academy breeding veteran traders in the crypto space. Bitay has NFT, game and Bitay visa card coming up. Bitay coin is launching soon. I rather not say much than keep your eyes on it early enough.

If you already have plans to hold for as long as five years, then I personally don't think you should be bothered about the current state of your investment, it is already a sure thing that you must have doubled your investment in 5 years to come or even less, it would have been a problem if you invested for the short term, but since you are ready to hold for as long as 5 years, you totally have nothing to be bothered about.

What I advice you do is find somewhere safe and store your wallet keys seedphrase, delete the wallet holding your current investment and open a fresh wallet, consider the £2000 lost, go back to that wallet and check after 3 years or 5 years as you've already scheduled, trust me, you won't be disappointed at what you will see.

No i don’t think now crypto currency in danger. Up and down is natural and normal matter for cryptocurrency market. So i think within short time or some days market will back and your loss will recover. So you Don't sell your token for loss. Now holiis better. So you hold it for some days. After some days your all loss will recover and you will be profited from here there has no doubt. So be patient. And wait some days for profit.

If you are willing to hold your Crypto coin within 5 years (Like your clarification), Then you better hold it.  I'm sure in that time your losses will be doubled. Cryptocurrencies are indeed very volatile, but these cryptocurrencies have great potential. Trust me the price will definitely go up!

I believe year by year the market will grow and we can expect a rise in price also. The adoption of crypto is increasing. Crypto is never in danger so you should remain calm and hold your coins and should not sell in the loss because this is the cycle of the market you have to wait for the Bull market I hope you will see recovery in your coins that you bought even you have good coins that are long-term coins as far as I think so be optimistic thing will be changed and you will see your portfolio start growing. Don't think of 5 years I would suggest you set some target once it is achieved you can quit.

Don't lose your hope yet, mate. Nothing wrong with the market but this is just one kind of circle and market will be always like this. What I can say to you is that invest the amount that you don't need within next 2 years or more. Or use the money that you want to save for your future life. If you able to do this, no worry about the market movement .  Just hold whatever you have bought and wait for the market movement .

Better to hold than sell at loss.
Crypto is volatile and will recover again after dump.
But It will take several months again.
for now, It's bearish season, many investors hold their coins and wait because maybe they bought at high price
So keep calm and stay hold until the next year, bitcoin halving will happen at 2024.

The cryptocurrency market is now in a bearish trend and at any moment another dump of the cryptocurrency market can begin, but of course the time will come when the cryptocurrency market will start to grow again, but it may be that growth will begin after few years, so you have to decide by yourself what is best for you do with your investments.

In my opinion hold is better to do during bearish.
Crypto will recover again at the next year.
So you shouldn't sell at loss as OP question, because you will lose a lot.
I think many people here also decided to hold and waiting the bullish season at the next year.
Hopefully It will happen soon.

There is no need to sell cryptocurrencies at a loss. The price drop of the market periodically occurs and those who did not panic at that time and simply expected a new wave of price growth always had good profits in the future. The current biggest war in Europe since World War II could very well eventually lead to increased demand for cryptocurrencies. We have never had such an experience. But in any case, the cryptocurrency continues to arouse interest among citizens and its decline is not expected.

The market will always recover, because it is a natural correction. I'm sure you panicked at the time, I've experienced it too.
The decision is definitely yours, if you find it difficult to hold on then it is better to sell it and buy again at a cheaper price.
I sold it at the time and just left and regretted it because after a few months my coins went up high again.

In cryptocurrency, we should not play or trade with unclear altcoins or altcoins that are not included in Coinmarketcap's top 50 because I believe that cryptocurrency is always full of surprises that make our money double or lose.
If we have BNB or Ethereum and the portfolio is decreasing because the price of the coin is decreasing, it's better to hold the BNB and ETH coins, very different from altcoins that are not clear, so it's better if we just stop losing and take your capital even though it's reduced by about 20% .

Just to clarify that I am willing to hold crypto for up to 5 years if there is a chance that my initial investment will double at least?

why you must sell at lost.
Many people predict crypto will have brighter future than now.
I also believe crypto currency will be the future currency, crypto will be payment method and more be popular than now.
I will always invest in crypto and hold when dump.
Let's see , It's bearish season, But I believe crypto will have bullish at this year.

Now only a very scared newbie with no crypto experience would sell. From my point of view now is the time to buy. What is the use of selling now at a loss? It seems crazy to me and lack of planning on the part of investors. The cycles keep changing as always, and without patience we will never win, we will always end up losing. Before planning which project to invest in, you have to be patient or we could end up bankrupt.

I get the point, I think at bearish season we should buy and collect coins, not for sell our coins..Because we all know the crypto price is struggling now.
I personally doing research several  new coins to add my coins collection.
Prepare to see the bullish season at 2023.
Yeah, you're right new bike will panic and sell their coins now.

New bie will always panic when see the market dumps.
I agree with this.
They sell at lost, but It's just at the beginning, time will tell.
When they have experience and knowledge to manage emotions they will keep calm when dump.
Maybe will buy more and collect other coins.
That's just the process, They will be professional investors

Don't  sell panic . BTC value may reach 150k, the only problem it faces is the energy demand that give him a bad reputation and may lead to an alt in it's growing. If you can't sustain the grid, we will loose adoption.
Add some gaming projext also. NFT withe gaming industry will have a huge impact in the future. Not the common JPEG, but the digital utility assets.
Metavwrse is next trend. metaverse is the future of gaming, media and even education so I would say 1 trillion is just the beginning

So far, it is clear that the major players do not want the cryptocurrency market to fall further down, so for now it is difficult to say what can be expected from the cryptocurrency market in the near future, but it is better to prepare for the worst, as we are in a bearish trend and therefore most likely that the cryptocurrency market will fall again in the near future.

At bearish season we should buy and hold , don't panic selling.
Yeah I agree with you about the major players do not want the cryptocurrency market to fall further down.
I see there many big player still hold their bitcoin and I think bitcoin will never go down until zero, as several haters said.
Bitcoin and altcoin will recover again.
