Title: [Scam] Mllxero.io (with L)
Post by: Freemind on March 05, 2024, 07:32:56 PM
As I see that no one has said it in this subforum, I give the warning. Mlixero.io It is a scam/phishing website that appears on Google, the url is written with l and not with i, a very old trick. They have also paid for Google advertising to give more credibility. Always check the url to avoid falling for these scams.

More information: Mixero (https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?topic=312906.msg1511306#msg1511306)

Ah the classic technique of substituting small L with capital i

I used to see this in scammers that are impersonating telegram channel admins and moderators. I find it funny when someone tries this on me but some newbies easily fall for this.

That's why I opened this thread. I thought eventually someone would read it and maybe not be fooled. But unfortunately I know that newbies don't read much. Scammers are also reinventing themselves from what I see, they now pay Google to advertise and make people believe that the product is authentic and official, something I've seen before in the cybersecurity industry, but not in crypto mixers.

I hope many people read this thread.

Checking the status the fake mixero is out and offline
https://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/mlixero.io?proto=http

There may be more clone sites not only on Mixero but on other mixing sites as well, they should issue a warning on their homepage so their old and new clients will be made aware of the existence of these fake and clone sites.

That's good news. Yes, unfortunately clones of popular mixers appear very frequently, it is something constant considering how extremely easy it is to replicate a website 100%. The only problem, and what triggers the most alarms, is the URL, since depending on the name they can be identified much faster, like the case we talked about. But when the URL cannot be identified so easily, the number of people scammed is considerable.

If Google has banned the scam website the day you wrote your post, it means that 10 days have passed since the Mixero team gave the notice. That seems like a long time to me, considering the number of users who may have tried to use the scammers' services. These things should be much faster.

This and other reasons are why I have created BitMixList. Nobody will be able to place a phishing link in there.

Classic way of scamming  ;D that changing letter i to letter l has been in the system for how many years now and even when the internet starts to be in the global use that this scam style exist .

Thanks for pointing this here mate because Mixero is one of the growing mixing site now means this is why scammers are getting into it as its popularity increases.

I think a found a new scam site as well, maybe Mixero can confirm it?
Code: [Select]
https://mixera.io/Sorry if this has been reported already, but if not then another fake and scam site.
I'm trying to look for other scam sites besides the OP put here, and then this site just pop up. They are using Mixero's logo and so I suspect that this is a fake and phishing site. Just need for Mixero team to validate it.

The template is not exactly the same as on the original website, but it is quite similar, which can lead to tricking users and scamming them. The Mixero team should report the website as they did the website I name at the beginning of this thread, to avoid potential scams.

Thank you very much for the report.

Exactly, nowadays scammers clown sites to scam people that are not very or knowledgeable with website domain. So we that are good for the detection not that bad domain name should inform others by publishing it for others to see. Thanks for bringing this to the forum. And I think with this people will not fall victim because they would check the domain very well before using the service and depositing coins to the wrong website. Really cybersecurity is one of the prominent thing to do in the ecosystem space. This is the first time I am coming to this sub-board and I like the information.

Hello, indeed mixera.io is a scam/phishing of our old design. What's more, after investigation it seems to generate a deposit address that's always the same (bc1quf4mj4575w7pd0xg899adet3m5acttshll9h5j), and after analyzing the transactions it seems that some customers have fallen for it. So please be careful and check the link you visit, especially if you come from a search engine.

Concerning mlixero.io the link is wrong, the link is mlxero.io with the l replacing the i, their google ad is still current so beware.

The best way to avoid being fooled is to check the letter of guarantee with our signature address as soon as you create an order on https://www.verifybitcoinmessage.com/.

Yeah, thanks for the confirmation, it's really unfortunate that this website is still up and running and many could have fallen for it. Will try to report it to the domain registar and hopefully you as well so that it will be taken down. And concerning
Code: [Select]
mlixero.io what makes it dangerous is that it is on the page 1 of Google when you search your website. And if others can report it as well here: https://safebrowsing.google.com/safebrowsing/report_phish/?hl=en, much better.

Right, others may say that this is useless effort, but I disagree. Been doing it myself in the other community for years already. And it's good that even in this community, there are still members who are actively chasing this scammers and exposing them here.

Maybe it can save someone who visits here.

I also reported it to Google phishing and see how it goes and the best thing we can do is hope that they will take actions moving forward.

Good job president! We often see such phishing sites that target mixer users and that's why it's always recommended to find a suitable place to see exact mixer URLS. In my eyes, this forum is the best place as of this day to find the legit site of a mixer and other than this forum, NotATether has also made a good site where he has listed the reputed mixers and their exact URLS.

For all those who use the Google search engine, I would recommend that they install uBlock Origin, which will block paid ads at the top of the search, and in this way everyone can protect themselves from phishing links that scammers place through GoogleAds.

There is a list of scam/phishing mixers on the BTT forum, which is certainly one of the best collections I've personally seen, and if someone has doubts about a mixer, it's not a bad idea to check if it's on that list.

Thank you, but the credit is not only mine, the credit also goes to the Mixero team, I opened this thread and try to keep it updated. From here I encourage any user who sees a site that has the purpose of scamming people, trying to pass itself off as a legitimate site, to open a thread on this subforum and report it. We need to help each other avoid scams, especially considering how long it takes Google to do something, although sometimes it doesn't have the desired effect when we talk about these issues.

You're most welcome, I agree that we all should try our best to find such phishing sites so users who are interested in mixing services could be careful from the scammers. Previously, the phishing sites were reported in Bitcointalk forum but now since there is no discussion related to mixers on that forum then it's our responsibility to find and report the fake mixing sites on this forum. In crypto world we can help each other as a community, mostly the ones who are new in crypto world could get some help when reputed members report such scams.

It is nice that these scam sites are being exposed. I could imagine the number of people that have already been victimized by this scheme. They are always there to create a fake and look alike website so as to lure newbies into their trap and rip them off their assets and  funds.
From now on,  I will be in a scout for fake website out there that is wanting to steal details from people so as to steal from them.

Thanks to OP and the Mixero team for this thread and timely response as they have saved many from further being victims of this scam site.

I would say whoever made this duplicate site has some skills. I just checked both of them, they looked exactly identical; expect some parts like fonts. From terms and conditions to animation to looks to style, even the signing address has been copied. Wow, what a waste of talent, whoever made that!

BTW, isn't there any way to report these phishing sites? I remembered Google had a report option where we could report fake sites. I can't seem to find it!

EDIT: Found the report form, site reported.
