I know I'm old school, but I lived through 2017 and 2019 watching bitcoinwisdom, simple, fast, easy to load, I mainly check the Bitcoin price and close it, but today, I saw this and it's not getting away:

I think I know the story, some tokens have either just increased the supply or the price has exploded (still don't know how that would be possible when one is down 5% and the other 15%, but, anyhow, I'm curious which ones are hose cause there are 4 WST and 3 UPD, with two of them being updog!

I would have opened this in the meme subforum, but I don't even know if they are meme coins, so mods feel free to move it where you think this should be!

I've seen that there is a trend around the forum labeling Dogecoin as a meme coin, something that has not other meaning that being an object of Musk's tweeting material, that is has no "good project" whatever that means, so, it's time for a reality check:

1) Dogecoin is one of the most used coins out there, in number of transactions per day it goes most of the times beyond what Bitcoin and Ethereum combined have

2) Despite the volume it's one of the cheapest and fastest coin to transfers value with looking at the last 24 hours average fees:
Bitcoin Avg. Transaction Fee   0.00011 BTC ($7.74)
Ethereum Avg. Transaction Fee   0.006 ETH ($23.41)
Dogecoin Avg. Transaction Fee   0.157 DOGE ($0.027)
Yeah, that's 2 cents on averge!

3) It's one of the most used coins and one of the few that are present in most Bitcoin ATMS:

25% of all ATMs suport Dogecoin, only 10% support Tether:

4) Want to buy something, then dogecoin is the choice, let's look at the major processors:

https://support.bitpay.com/hc/en-us/articles/203411543-What-currencies-can-I-use-to-pay-a-BitPay-invoice
We support payment in the following cryptocurrencies:

Quote
- Bitcoin (BTC: on-chain, off-chain with Coinbase, and Lightning)
- Bitcoin Cash (BCH)
- Ethereum (ETH)
- Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC)
- Dogecoin (DOGE)
- Litecoin (LTC)
- Shiba Inu Coin (SHIB)
- Apecoin (APE)
- 5 USD-pegged stablecoins (GUSD, USDC, USDP, DAI, and BUSD)
- Euro Coin (EUROC) I A Euro-Backed Stablecoin
- Polygon (MATIC)

The memecoin is there, the "good projects" are weirdly not listed /s

Let's look at Coinbase commerce:
https://www.coinbase.com/commerce/faq

Quote
We currently support ApeCoin, Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, DAI, Dogecoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, SHIBA INU, Tether and USD Coin.
We also support MATIC, USD Coin, and Wrapped Ether (WETH) on Polygon.

Again doge, but a lot of "good projects" are again missing!

5) You want to play in a casino, well the meme coin is definetly there, just an example:

or sportsbet
https://sportsbet.io/help-centre/help-payments/help-payments-using-crypto/what-cryptocurrencies-do-you-support
Quote
We support Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), Tether (USDT), Tron (TRX), Ripple (XRP), Cardano (ADA), Dogecoin (DOGE), Binance Coin (BNB), USD Coin (USDC), Polygon (MATIC)  and The Open Network (TON).

Again doge is there!

6) Social media?
Top crypto reddit forums:

Quote
Subreddit   Rank by Size   Community Size
r/CryptoCurrency   1   6.5 million
r/Bitcoin (BTC)   2   5.5 million
r/ethereum (ETH)   3/4   2.3 million
r/ethtrader (ETH)   3/4   2.3 million
r/dogecoin (DOGE)   5   2.2 million
~
r/cardano (ADA)   12   689k
~
r/solana (SOL)   25   160k
~
r/algorand (ALGO)   39   76.4k

So stop treating one of the most used, most accepted and with biggest social media presence coin as a meme coin!

Cryptocurrency discussions / ELI5: What does good project even mean?
« on: January 26, 2024, 02:31:11 PM »
In case you don't know ELI5 means Explain like I'm 5 (years old)

Of course, I'm not five, despite being new here I'm still quite old on the other forum  and to be completely honest, after 10 years in crypto I still have no clue what the hell a "good project". This whole "good project" stuff was labeled as meme material most users were making their quota or shilling some ICO by almost talking doge with 1 liners of "good project", "nice team", "great stuff",  and to be honest is really weird seeing all this again them especially in some weird instances.

So, here I was , browsing the dogecoin forum and a ton of users are saying, no dogecoin is meme coin it doesn't have a "good project"
Like, for real?

Why would you need this damn "good project" when you have a coin that surpassed bitcoin and eth in number of transactions a day, has one of the largest communities, is used on all exchnges, accepted in most casinos and betting websites, 1/4 of every BATM is also selling dogecoins, usage is outshining every other coin that is not in top10 by marketcap, so why would you claim it's bad because it has no "good project".

What is this "good project" ?  Can someone describe to me a good project from 2013? A good project from 2017?
And what was so good about the vaporware on a whitepaper that in 99.9% ended in the trashcan of history?
Of course I have a biased view on things, I'm a bitcoin maximalist, so I look down on altcoins but still, I don't understand how can you take a dump on the potential of already proven coins based on the promises of wanna be nothing proven yet no name coins with 20 transactions day!

So, without making this any longer, eager to hear those "good projects" from the past. Cause hyped good projects, the graveyard of crypto is full of them:
