What do you think about crypto campus ambassadors program
« on: July 09, 2024, 11:45:04 PM »
Hey everyone! Today, I'm feeling nostalgic about my school days - they were truly unforgettable! I miss them even more now because I was always seeking ways to add value and earn opportunities, despite being from a third-world country.

So I had about an opportunity from a friend back then, who's been in the web3 space for a while. It was an ambassadorship campus program where I got to enlighten fellow students on campus about web3 and blockchain, creating awareness about the opportunities available. It was a fun experience, mate, and I connected with a lot of great people. I wonder if anyone here can relate or has had similar experiences with such programs?

was a member of campus fellowship but not as an ambassadors neither running any program during my school days I wasn't this enlighten towards cryptocurrency related knowledge so I totally missed out if i must say.
But however, it would be a good idea to share this same crypto knowledge to them that are in the campus to also have sound knowledge towards the crypto space, most time if you are not financially buoyant to keep hosting student they could be exhausted to coming out to listing to you except you shows results because most people are being carried by what they see from you as the representatives.

I have attended several programs while I was still school and some that weren’t arranged in campus and to be honest you’ll get to see and hear some of their experiences and how they were able to successfully maneuver through challenges and come out with success and also they’ll shill different projects to you (some will be helpful while some are not).

Back then, they really helped me in my journey - and I have won several awards from them, ranging from free trading mentorship to free coin - but unlike you I haven’t been opportune to be an ambassador for any of them.

Op first of all when did you finish school so we can relate well with your story. It is only the time.tour finished your school will determined whether this story is legit. Your story doesn't look nice because cryptocurrency or Blockchain is not a course in any of the network Nigeria universities so they would never be an any ambassador of crypto or Blockchain in Universities and if any students knows them, he would keep it by themselves. I have been a teacher for so.e times now and I have not seen such in any where. So I don't know how you formulate your story. Please write true story for use to discuss.

I think OP means ambassadorship programmes like the one Bybit, Bitget is doing for campus students. They partner with the platform, equip the students etc. don't know about the former, but there's an ongoing one for the latter for campus students. I think that's it if I'm not mistaken.

I have not seen such programme from any of the exchanges and this is the first time I am hearing such? Which of the universities running such programme? Is it in Nigeria or outside country. Well probably it is a new development. But I don't think such can happen because Nigerian government is not yet crypto friendly so if such orientation is given then it will be at Lagos.

There is possibility pf a crypto ambassador, even though I have to agree with what @Agbe said because first of all the timing Matters alot if and when all of us have those old campus stories and because of our diverse timing and it peculiarities, some of us while o  campus, bitcoin or other cryptocurrency coins where not known, so we have no expirencce of a campus crypto ambassador, but that doesn't mean that we can have such roles in the present day campuses across the country.

But in all the ops just gave us an inconclusive story  hope he replies to comments here on the thread.

Well, I've always believed that anything or activities that is targeted at the masses as a way to on-board them into crypto, thereby promoting crypto adoption; is really a cool one and always good idea, so long as it doesn't involve censorship and breach of users privacy and so on.

I've never had the opportunity of discussing crypto with some students at some school, not to talk of being an ambassador, and this is possibly because I was already out of school way back before I joined crypto in 2016.
So, In the nutshell, I would say that it's a good/great idea for any who has such opportunity as shared @op.

I have, the one I attended was sponsored by one exchange that was created by a Nigerian man although he is associated with several forum companies thus how he keeps it running and we had the opportunity to meet several of the devs and got some USDT as a gift after creating an account in the exchange I can’t recall the exchange name anymore I even got a souvenir shirt from them b it never went back to the after that event.

This same kind of events are also been sponsored by other exchanges and as long as they’ll have the opportunity to shill their products to those in attendance they’re ready to sponsor events like this - most of those “catch them young - crypto events” are usually sponsored by start up companies or businesses that have been around but what’s more audience engagement with newbies.

I understand your point, but it's worth noting that it was in this same Nigeria that DeFi Summer was hosted last month, which gained significant attention on Twitter. The government did not take any action. While it may seem surprising, crypto events and ambassador programs are taking place in universities. Initially, I was skeptical, but a friend's experience as a Binance ambassador at school showed me it was possible. I applied for a similar opportunity with Bitget and became an ambassador in my school around 1-2 years ago. Currently, another ambassadorship program is about to launch

What do you think about it?
All the reasonable and like minded crypto enthusiast is doing it in a coded way and not advertising or publicating him or herself. And if you are doing anything related to crypto you have to be careful with people around you because they can label you as yahoo boy and call the police on you. And if there is no evidence of work that you are doing to earn money and you are earning money, guy they will take to the station and you will spend weti no good. So joining such programme in campus is not even encouraging me.

If to say Na forex and other online stuffs like affiliate marketing things dem, copy writing and all the rest I for agree 100% but e get the way cryptocurrency ambassadorship take dey for campus matter, especially for country wey the government dey fight cryptocurrency like say Na bad thing. Op's story might be true, because some persons fit dey do am, but e fit no dey pampard for everywhere, as e be say majority of cryptocurrency enthusiast like anonymous lifestyle.

In our university campus, we have many students who are looking for opportunities in various fields but they are just lacking information. These sorts of ambassadorship programs for campuses currently assist these students who yearn for information, especially about cryptocurrency, and point them in the right direction so that they can avoid misinformation and other people who want to introduce them to the negative side of cryptocurrency use.

FTX when they have not exited the crypto space also had a crypto ambassador program where they sponsor their crypto ambassador to enlighten people about cryptocurrency. But the truth is that these exchange are only doing it to advertise their exchange and increase the number of users that will be keeping their funds in their exchange by telling the students to learn trading through their exchange. Some students fell victim and their funds also crashed with FTX because they kept some funds in their exchange account which they were using to learn trading. An exchange will not tell you that there is a self custody wallet for you to store their coins instead they will say that there exchange is decentralized.
