I think it should be regulated to some degree, but it will be really difficult to do so.  The main reason for regulation is that it's far too easy for whales to manipulate the prices.  There needs to be some rules that prevent such behavior, but I have no idea how they could possibly be enforced.  The crypto world may always be the wild wild west.
