Title: Which is better: Bitcoin's monopoly or dual power with ethereum?
Post by: Fenix on May 14, 2021, 02:54:48 PM
Bitcoin's dominance has gradually declined in recent months and now stands at just over 40 percent. This enabled altcoins to rise in value. At the same time, ethereum's dominance has grown to 20 percent during this time. A little more and the dominance of these two coins can equalize.
If this happens, how could this affect the cryptocurrency market, as well as bitcoin and ethereum? Will dual power in terms of dominance be more useful for cryptocurrencies than the current monopoly dominance of Bitcoin? How will altcoins behave if bitcoin and ethereum show conflicting price movements?

We all have same problem and wait is first option, keep saving and try trafing to get more value. Second option is soft and hardfork, when happen value will split and we have alternative crypto fees solution, that's all I know.

ETH is switching to proof of stake with more and more projects choosing this platform as Layer 1 thus it should be at no surprise that in some time ETH will overtake BTC in the Market Dominance field becoming the CMC no 1

Hope your prediction becomes true but I think that's not gonna happen because the whole crypto market is manipulated by the BTC and the Past, Current as well as future crypto market movements highly depend on the BTC.

The market seems to hold to few narratives like TA and halving cycle meaning that on long time frames there will be more and more demand for BTC due to organic growth , word of mouth, ... , ...  with regular decrease  in supply on shorter time frames following the technical analysis trend its just ETH is different from the fundamental point of view

I think dual power is better than monopoly.  We have other choice for investment and I think Ethereum has done well as smart contract platform.
Bitcoin is still dominance, but not monopoly.
I hope there will several potential altcoin that compete to bitcoin at the coming future. Let's see.

In a decentralized cryptocurrency market, there should be no rigid price dominance of one type of cryptocurrency. Decentralization and rigid domination are incompatible. And to watch how almost all types of cryptocurrencies constantly repeat the price movements of bitcoin is somehow boring. Therefore, I expect the time to come when there will be no dominance of one cryptocurrency in this market, and the price of a cryptocurrency will be formed from the state of the project and the prospects of its token or coin.
As for ethereum, the next stages of its update in July and October will show what this coin is capable of.

We can't think all cryptocurrencies are like Bitcoin. Ethereum is much more than a store of value. The platform hosts thousands of decentralized applications that have real world uses.

Bitcoin and Ethereum in my opinion are equally important, but sometimes people think Bitcoin is the most important. For me personally, which one can make money, that's what I choose.  Bitcoin dominance increases we choose Bitcoin, and when Bitcoin dominance decreases we choose another coin.

Despite the decrease in dominance, Bitcoin remains on top and if the dip will start to wane and the market is about to recover, we can see the dominance of Bitcoin to also rise. There is no question that Ethereum has the potential to be the one replacing Bitcoin as the top cryptocurrency and this can happen in the future, that is if Bitcoin will not be improved and will stop innovating. As for me, I am more comfortable with the way things right now, with Bitcoin at the top and Ethereum second in line.

Bitcoin prices have been falling for the past few weeks. As Bitcoin's dominance diminishes, so does the status of all coins or altcoins. This means that most altcoins are losing market dominance. In other words, the picture of the condition of other coins, including Bitcoin, was much brighter in the currency market. As the price of Bitcoin has come down, so has the price of all coins. The price of more ethereum is currently declining along with the price of bitcoin.

Past and current price movements in the cryptocurrency market depend on the direction of Bitcoin price movement. But what will happen in the future, while none of us knows. In my opinion, the many dominant cryptocurrencies in this market will be much more useful to this decentralized market than the rigid price dominance of one cryptocurrency - Bitcoin. With Bitcoin lagging behind many cryptocurrencies, there will surely come a time when it will lose its price dominance. It is unlikely that then it will be replaced again by only one cryptocurrency. Logically, it will be several cryptocurrencies at once.

Bitcoin dominance has historically risen and fallen in different times in the crypto cycle.

Bitcoin and ETH are different categories... One is a store of value and the other the foundation of Web 3.0. So either getting larger doesn't take away from the other ... both ETH and BTC will be around for a long time to come and will continue to grow. It's unlikely that bitcoin and ETH will show conflicting price action however their relative strength with respect to one another (ETH / BTC trading pair) has been changing.

It is predicted that ethereum can bypass Bitcoin in terms of capitalization and price dominance. I would really like to see it. This will mean that the monopoly domination of prices in the cryptocurrency market by bitcoin will come to an end. In any case, it will change the market, and I don't think it will change for the worse. It is unlikely that a decentralized cryptocurrency needs a rigid price dominance of one cryptocurrency. Over time, this will happen anyway.

These are all slogans, but there is no reasonable argument in them. The ethereum network is currently undergoing a major upgrade and will compare favorably with the current functional characteristics of bitcoin. At the same time, bitcoin is improving very slowly, it has long been inferior in competitiveness to other top coins. This is partly because there is no tight-knit team behind Bitcoin. There are some groups that find it very difficult to come to a definite agreement. At the same time, the ethereum team, led by Buterin, is constantly looking for something new and better for their coin. Therefore, after some time, ethereum will be able to bypass Bitcoin in terms of capitalization and price dominance. There is nothing eternal in this market and any slogans become obsolete.

Because Ethereum is growing fastly.
Ethereum is always be number second on CMC, and we all know about this coins as the King of altcoin and smart contract platform.
It will have good effect for crypto currency world, so far bitcoins always be the trend, maybe we will see dual the King with each power

In order for ethereum to surpass Bitcoin in terms of price dominance, it does not have to overtake Bitcoin in price. Price more characterizes the degree of trust in a coin, and trust is a very volatile concept. Bitcoin price can change dramatically in one day.
Now we see that altcoins are developing very quickly and they take on large investments that were previously usually received by bitcoin. Therefore, the level of dominance of bitcoin will inevitably fall, and over time, a situation will surely come when it will lose its leadership and ability to price dominance over other types of cryptocurrencies. This will be much better for the market as a whole.

Bitcoin is already simply slowing down the development of cryptocurrency. Such low scalability is no longer found in any cryptocurrency. Recently, he also has difficulties with the level of investment and capitalization. Therefore, it is completely illogical to expect that he will constantly be the leader in this market. We see that the percentage of his dominance is constantly decreasing. Therefore, at least bitcoin will have to share its dominance in the cryptocurrency market with ethereum.

Bitcoin has an advantage in every trade and Bitcoin is also very capable of being able to continue to be in the right space because it is able to dominate the market up to 40%, which is extraordinary for Bitcoin and this is a fact.
Ethereum is also very dominant in the market for altcoins and this has been proven by the many erc20 tokens that have been circulating, so Bitcoin and Ethereum definitely dominate the market for now because they have super complete advantages.

Now there is information that the countries of the European Union from 2025 may ban the mining and circulation of cryptocurrency, which uses the energy-consuming PoW algorithm. First of all, this will affect bitcoin, which does not have a single team, and therefore is practically unable to eliminate its energy consumption. I am also sure that other states will follow the example of the EU, because states do not need bitcoin. Bitcoin is unlikely to withstand such a blow.

Therefore, I wonder what will happen if, for some reason, one or more altcoins approach or surpass Bitcoin in terms of capitalization. I don't think a decentralized cryptocurrency market needs a hard price dominance of one cryptocurrency. Sooner or later, this is bound to happen. I think that for the cryptocurrency as a whole, this will mean more opportunities. In this regard, I am for dual power and multi-power in cryptocurrency.

I am of the same opinion. I think that the monopoly of one cryptocurrency is very bad for a decentralized market. Now the price of almost all cryptocurrencies depends on one bitcoin. Bitcoin fell in price for a year, and for the whole year the market stagnates. If at least a few cryptocurrencies dominate at once, this should no longer be the case. The cryptocurrency will then have the opportunity to move its price path.

I wouldn't compare bitcoin with Ethereum. Although Ethereum is the most potential altcoin but it's not true decentralized like Bitcoin. The Ethereum team could create an influence on the market. I know Ethereum is a platform where anyone can deploy token or launch DeFi. But still, it will consider as an altcoin, but bitcoin is a crypto coin and it will consider as a mother coin always. Bitcoin is true decentralized where the creator is anonymous, so since we don't know the team means they can't create influence on the market.

So far, we have been like this after Bitcoin was created and many altcoins are also created. The dominance of Bitcoin cannot be ignored because we know that Bitcoin, as the first crypto created, really has the power to influence the market. The market trend will depend on Bitcoin. And I think that let it be. For Ethereum, this is also the best altcoin so far. However, it cannot still compete with balance

I am of the same opinion. The bad impact of the price dominance of one cryptocurrency is blatantly aid this year. Bitcoin has fallen sharply in price and for a whole year all other cryptocurrencies are in the decline of the intervening period. Hard price pressure should not be in a decentralized market. This hides the peculiarities of the development of each cryptocurrency. Of course, even now there are exceptions to this rule. But the fact of the matter is that these are only exceptions. Each cryptocurrency in this market deserves special attention.

If we talk about the power and popularity, I think Bitcoin is always  being number  one.
Bitcoin is still dominant, and always be.
I never think about dual power, Because it's impossible to happen

I believe that if the dominance of bitcoin grows, then in principle it will have a positive impact on the market, we can also say for ETH, because many projects, forks, etc. are deployed on this network. In any case, it's good

Bitcoin has become the most dominant cryptocurrency. So far, we have no big problem with this. The dominance of the single crypto, Bitcoin, can really give very big influence to the other cryptocurrencies, moreover in term of price infleunce. Altcoins will always follow the movement of Bitcoin. I prefer to have only one dominance than dual power. Here, Ethereum is still lower than BTC

I want to support a de-market. BTC may continue to be the king to lead the market, but users need more large ecosystems for Defi, Web3, Metaverse, NFT, GameFi… Ethereum BNB Chain, Avalanche, Solana, NEAR, Cosmos, Polkadot are the ones good choice for users, they will create competition and development for blockchain technology, users will benefit from development.

Yep, I think polygon matic and polkadot will be the competitor for bitcoin at the coming future.
I think the King is always the one.
I don't think about dual or triple power in crypto currency.
Bitcoin will always lead the crypto, that's my opinion.

Bitcoin is still the best because with Bitcoin everyone can take easy profits in various markets.
Bitcoin is also the forerunner of the birth of Ethereum and Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency that was created.
I also own Ethereum and don't completely vilify Ethereum because the dual power or strength of Ethereum's erc20 token is also very strongly adopted.

If we talk about dua power , I think Ethereum is good candidate.
But I see bitcoin is still strongest than other bitcoin.
At the coming we will see the good competitor that will compete to bitcoin, it will be

I would like to see how the prices in the cryptocurrency market will react if there is no rigid price dominance of one cryptocurrency, in this case bitcoin. I think the market will benefit from this. It is unlikely that after bitcoin we will see a rigid price dominance of one coin. Ethereum or any other coin will not be able to provide the percentage of dominance that Bitcoin has. It is assumed that then each cryptocurrency will be more free in its own price path. This characterizes a decentralized market more than the current rigid price centralization.

Bitcoin has a large market capitalization of 51% of altcoins, Bitcoin's dominance makes the market situation as it is today, I don't know how long this dominance lasts, but altcoins do not have investors and holders like Bitcoin, Merge ethereum does not change the price of ETH, unlike Bitcoin. Halving BTC which can increase the price and return to new ATH.

ps: I didn't compare Bitcoin and Altcoins, but we can see all of that from the existing Halving history, price increases are always dominated by Bitcoin which halving every 4 years.

As we may observed, bitcoin is the first crypto and has the largest community world wide. Bitcoin dominance will always be on market as far as it is the first crypto and the must traded with huge marketcap. Dominance will continue because Bitcoin drive the entire crypto market movement everyday. I don’t there may be any chance to the end of bitcoin dominance now or in near future, we may be experiencing certain reductions at some point but bitcoin will continue to prevail even as it dictate the market price movement.

In the world of cryptocurrencies, in principle, as in any other market, everything can change very quickly. Bitcoin is just a cryptocurrency, although the first one. It will not forever dominate altcoins in terms of price, as it already lags behind them in many ways in terms of its functionality.
The dominance of one coin, in my opinion, is not inherent in a decentralized market and it will be much better if it does not have such a rigid dominant.
