I don't know who you mean when you say "they". Ethereum transaction fees are not controlled by a single person or the #DevelopmentTeam , the fees go down when the network is used less, if there are fewer transactions, the cheaper the fees will be. My problem is the huge gas transaction that eats away peoples funds without them knowing how much they have loose in the name of paying for gas fees. the ethereum  owner show hasten to open ethereum verson 2.0 which we all know will solve these issues. I think no solutions yet, because ETH high fee is big problem for trader and investors.
Several projects migrated to BSC, but in my opinion It's not good solutions.
ERC20 market is bigger than BSC.
