What Bitcoin Mobile Wallet are you using?
« on: March 05, 2024, 01:47:13 PM »
Lately, I have been using the Electrum mobile wallet which according to me is a pain. It does not show the correct price of Bitcoin some time and it has a clumsy user interface. I still like the desktop version but in the current scenario where most of the financial transactions are done using a mobile, I am looking for a good Bitcoin mobile wallet. Before Electrum I was using the Mycelium wallet which I was happy with until they started spamming my phone with their advertisement notification and adding Ethereum blockchain. I mean where did the exclusivity for Bitcoin go for those who developed it?

Please suggest an exclusive Bitcoin wallet for mobile devices that can also work as an LN wallet. Thanks in advance!

Am using Exodus for couple of years nowmate and face no issues but the swapping fee is actually
higher that other platform but the safer is what I am looking so I stick to Exodus.

and I also have SafePal wallet and Abra , indeed they are also  good to use so why are you asking about wallets?
if you are looking for Lightning Network supported then try those mate.

Right now, I am not using a Bitcoin exclusive wallet since I am just into TrustWallet. I have been with this wallet since I can remember...during the popularity of ICOs after I jumped from MyEtherWallet which is not so innovative according to my own experience. TW is a multi-chain and is supporting Segwit/Bech32 so it is the one I am using for my signature bounty. Since I am planning to convert my little stock of BTC into cash before the end of the month, I am more satisfied with what I am getting with TrustWallet so far.

You can use bitcoin wallet, I will tell you about two wallets. I am very familiar with these two wallets Bitcoin wallet or Electrum wallet which are very popular. And more secure you can familiarize yourself by using it and depositing Bitcoin for a long time will definitely be more secure.

Lately, I have been using the Electrum mobile wallet which according to me is a pain. It does not show the correct price of Bitcoin some time and it has a clumsy user interface.

Electrum wallet is one of the best to use because of the high security it has and how you can generate multiple addresses from the wallet plus the multisig nature it possess, but i don't expect something like that to be that interesting on the aspect of user interface, some newbies even don't easily get the use of electrum wallet as that simple, instead somehow complicated to them, i also uses electrum and don't think there's any i could like as such, all you need is to always update to this latest version for more features.

I still like the desktop version but in the current scenario where most of the financial transactions are done using a mobile,

In my own case, i think i prefer the mobile version to that of the desktop version, just that there are some features that the desktop version has in which the mobile version doesn't

What are your criteria/s for choosing a Bitcoin wallet? A lot of people most likely check the features first before they use one.

As for my suggestion, you might want to try using the wallet I use, which is Exodus. If you plan to hold Bitcoin and other crypto, exodus is perfect for you. It also has an RBF feature, and you can enable custom fees. As far as I remember, I had a discussion in this forum about Exodus which is the same as this where he is asking for information or advice for a Bitcoin wallet. Exodus meets most of his criteria. However, what he does not like is Exodus is a closed-source wallet.

I would suggest BlueWallet. It also has better UI and open source. Although i'd also recommend you not to put lots of Bitcoin or other cryptocurrency on your phone, due to risk of getting stolen or hacked (since you also do your regular activity on it).

Been using up electrum since 2016 from Windows wallet until it does have that mobile app on which i could say that it do perfectly works. Yes, it might be having some inconveniences but
having that security and open source then i dont face up any issues even up to now. This is really just that talking about Bitcoin wallet
and also i do love that RBF thing specially if there would really be that some having that network congestion on which you could make that kind of adjustments of the fees.

You can try these lists of non-custodial wallets that supports lighning network I think they have both mobile and desktop so maybe you can try 'em one by one; Speed, Zap, Wallet of Satoshi, Muun, Breez Wallet, Zeus Wallet, Phoenix, Eclair Wallet and Blue Wallet. I personally haven't tried most of those wallets but I am currently using Blue Wallet for my small Bitcoin holdings and so far I haven't had any issues with it.

Exodus  is quite  user friendly  to me but as you've  said it deserve  not to be trusted because  normally of it's  component  were made opensourced " and this components seem to be part of what makes it stand  out of other wallets .
Although,  Exodus  have it  cons in term of their exchange , it's  done through third parties which have recently been  reported  over scam accusations so I might want to avoid the Exchange if I were OP.
You can use blue  wallet if you are more concerned  with open sourced it's  available for both android  and Ios but  it's  a Bitcoin-only wallet

Well, I guess the electrum wallet is actually one of the most proven and tested for all of us. Then the bluewallet. I just don't know if you have tried it too. This is if we are only talking about bitcoin. Now, if there are other cryptocurrencies, Metamask is the one that I have used so far.

Electrum wallet is available on mobile and desktop, but like the others, the desktop is actually different. Although it's okay on mobile, in my situation, I only use the mobile apps on Electrum when I have a problem on the desktop, just like that.

This is an important point which is ignored or not known by newbies.

Bitcoin is a most valuable asset a cryptocurrency enthusiast can have, so don't connect it with other cryptocurrencies.

Use a Bitcoin-only wallet to store your bitcoins and make transactions with Bitcoin blockchain.

Use multiple/ all in one wallet to store your altcoins and interact with their smart contracts. If anything goes wrong with their wallets, smart contracts, you only lose your altcoins, not lose your bitcoins.

Be careful.

Electrum is a good wallet, and I don't know why you don't like it. You can try out Blue wallet for mobile, it is also a good wallet. I use both wallets to keep small coins for my daily transactions. However, you can try sparrow wallet but it only for desktop. Open source wallet should be our priority.

Leaving a good wallet just because it is not doing for what it is not made, is kind a not a good thing, I am not a regular user of Electrum but still, if you want to look at BTC's updated price then go for some exchange where you want to sell it, don't even see on CMC, or coingecko, or on trading view, because they don't show the exact price, instead, they show average price. If you want to be so precise in terms of BTC price then only check the rates on exchanges or places where you want to sell.

And talking about Mycelium's recommended notification, that is frustrating. You can block such notifications in the settings, once you go in the app setting, there you will see notifications and when you will expand that bar, you will see many types of notification option and one of them will be recommended notification, just block them this way you won't be missing any important like TX notifications. But to remain safe, I suggest to not do that. Still Electrum is in my favourite list even if I don't use it regularly.
