Meme coin traders are flocking to a derogatory cryptocurrency that attacks Elizabeth Warren, the Massachusetts senator and prominent crypto critic. Meanwhile, cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase is running awkwardly in the other direction.

The trading giant on Wednesday nixed a webpage that for a short while promoted "how to buy Elizabeth Whoren in United States." Links to the auto-generated webpage instead reverted to a more generic hub for buying crypto in general.

"These pages are automatically generated based on tokens that have been created by third parties," a Coinbase spokesperson said in a statement. "They are informational only, do not endorse any asset, and do not indicate that the assets are available for trading on Coinbase."

Just like many people in the world of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency, I am not a big fan of Elizabeth Warren not only because she has been the big voice opposing cryptocurrency by espousing many ideas and proposals to limit the growth of the industry and subsequently kill it but also because she is part of the leftist leaning side of the Democratic Party bent on controlling people according to their socialism ridden principles. And finally, this anti-Elizabeth response is being encapsulated with her own meme coin called as Elizabeth Whoren...a name which is really derogatory, to be honest. Maybe they can think of something else so that there can be more supporters of this meme coin. Would you be willing to buy and take some risks with this Whoren coin?

Cryptocurrencies are supposed to be used to make payments without the need for a third party. The idea that there are thousands of accounts for personal purposes, for central platforms, for political purposes, as is happening now, or for any other reason, is against the idea of cryptocurrencies from the beginning. You are right, it has become such a widespread phenomenon that every important event or beloved or hated character is created a symbol and sold for thousands of dollars, then dies and disappears.

I remember, for example, that there was a token called “Elon buys Twitter.” This token rose to large numbers during the period of the Twitter purchase deal, and then after that it disappeared and ended, and most of the investors lost their money. There was also the incident of racial discrimination against Floyd, in which they issued a special token for Floyd under the pretext of supporting Floyd, and it quickly disappeared (of course more than one token appeared for Floyd, not just one token).

There are a lot of things like this and in the end they are worthless except that the token creators get millions and leave.

I have heard before about this lady and his anti-crypto army, she is just another spawn that makes moves for someone else. Well, don't have to say much about her work, she might have a good cause to start this act as she is old and doesn't look at the crypto the way we see or many people see. And talking about coinbase, I am quite amazed at how it is really behaving, it is not working fine since the market is going up.

And calling the page generation an automatic act and blaming SEO technique that has led the creation of that page is kinda new to me, well, if they would have shared more information how SEO has led the creation of this page then that would be of more help but they just made an excuse tocover there aces.

its fun to read some memes but having to invest on such meme with a purpose to just send a message to Warren i think is too much. people can create memes but that's just it, no need for a token.  don't allow those memecoin developer put you inside their pocket.

those memecoins already existed, there are countless memecoins already. we get airdrops of them almost a billion yet their value is still less than $10.

As for Coinbase removing it, I applauded them, I think it's a good move from them. Perhaps even if we have been under attack from Elizabeth Warren, Coinbase shows some "respect" out of it.

But if there are other exchanges, at least second or third tier going to list it, I wouldn't but any, as others have said, it's a meme coin and we all know that it will be used for pump-and-dump by some entities.

I mean not a shocker considering Coinbase is a public company at this point. You can buy their shares, they are on the stock market, which means that they are constantly checked. You can't just make stuff like this and expect them to keep it up. There is no reason for Coinbase to apologize though, they didn't created it, and they deleted it as soon as they were aware of it, so they have done everything they possibly could do. I believe that there will be a lot more stuff like this that they are going to be forced to remove though, because since this became news, many more will want to make something similar.

Actually i believe that page is automatically generated. After all, they also have similar page for other joke coin/token such as BAN, KEK and MUSK. But it's time for them to remove those automatically generated page.

And I was thinking about that auto-generated page, I guess it is possible to make pages there via SEO and some other ways. For example, that site might have APIs to make pages for hyped or more talked memecoins on the internet.

And via SEO and shilling hackers/scammers could actually make one memecoin look famous and the API of the website would have picked it and made a new page for it as well. I suggest coinbase should put a auditor on it in order to stop mis-use of it.

I doubt it's that complex. It's more likely they simply take list of all coin/token from either CoinMarketCap or CoinGecko and generate pages for all coin/token with a bit of trading activity.

And via SEO and shilling hackers/scammers could actually make one memecoin look famous and the API of the website would have picked it and made a new page for it as well. I suggest coinbase should put a auditor on it in order to stop mis-use of it.

Or simply create whitelist which only contain coin/token has been around for long time and has some market activity.

I love the term IDIOT there mate because indeed this is how it shows to try joining the direct attack to a senator in which for all we know that His criticism makes crypto more popular in the US and will also value in the whole world.

Investing in such tokens means encouraging fraud. Which I can compare to gambling. You are placing a bet whether you are losing or winning but that is not the purpose of cryptocurrency. Some nefarious circles have created meme coins in crypto and are quickly making off with the money. If Coinbase takes such a decision I think it will be a landmark decision. Because currently the new meme coin is having a negative impact on the market. People's negative attitude towards crypto is increasing. However, due to the lack of regulation, the emergence of such meme project cannot be prevented, but if investors are careful and avoid meme coins, Such projects will decline to a large extent.
