I am a Doge fan next one I like is BTC.

I would consider both . I purchased some of each coin this week.

I use one exchange to buy the Doge and an other exchange to buy the BTC.  I am not giving you financial advice I am simply telling you the two coins I usually buy.

It depends on what you want. If you need a less volatile coins that can get to all-time-high, the best I can advice you to go for is bitcoin. Bitcoin is still proving itself as a store of value.

There are altcoins like ether, avax, algo, ada and some other ones that you can gamble with. Meme like doge that is mentioned above is also another one.

But I will advise you to go for bitcoin.

First of all, you must decide in which coin to invest your money. I understand that you are new and probably don't have much knowledge about the industry. But what I could never recommend to anyone is how to use their own money. It is good to ask for opinions and contrast them with yours because this way you learn a lot, but the final decision should always be yours. In this forum you have a lot of information about many coins/tokens, read, learn, contrast ideas, that way your $500 will be well used and with a little luck and a lot of DYOR you will have benefits.

That said, next time give more information in the threads/posts you make. This way you will avoid LQP penalties.

@Sergeantedwards, since you said you had $500, which is what you want to invest in crypto for a start, I would suggest you start with Bitcoin first.

Although $500 will purchase 0.0128 Bitcoin for you (that's with the current price of $39,230),  if you hold that small fraction until Bitcoin gets to $100k by next year or this year, your profit will be about $780 dollars. If you also keep accumulating gradually, depending on the inflow of cash, you should be able to accumulate more fractions of bitcoin, which will give you a tangible profit in the bull market.

If you are yet a newbie that is still starting your journey into crypto with that $500, Bitcoin will be good for you. Maybe after you have more knowledge about altcoins and their risks, you can invest.

I don't think I can give you any suggestions or finance advice, because I don't know your risk appetite. So I'll give you some other normal/general advice:
+ Please refer to more information about the market: its potential, opportunities, profits, risks. The more knowledge you have, the more opportunities and profits you will have.
+ Please understand that there will not be any really good advice or suggestions for you on crypto forums.
+ Please write a little more about yourself and what you are hoping for in this market: who you are, what your income and capital for investing? Which token are you looking at and whether it matters.

I believe that the more information there is about you (not private info), the easier it will be for every member of the forum to help you in your crypto journey.

Top 10 coins? Go on BTC, and ETH.
Top 11-50 coins? Go on ATOM, INJ, TIA, SEI Network
Top 51-100 coins? Go on SUI, OSMO, RUNE, dYdX

These are just recommendations, and I'm a bit bias on it of course because some of them are the tokens that I'm holding, but you can just play with it if you want. With your 500$, you can buy at least 1 on top 10, 1 on top 11-50, and 1 on top 51-100. Just remember, the lower the market cap, the higher the risk, but the higher the reward.

If you are a newbie investor in the crypto space and are unsure about which coin to invest in, I strongly recommend Bitcoin.

When compared both bitcoin and altcoins that would last long in cryptosphere and not lose value in the future, bitcoin appears to be the first coin that crypto investors are advised to invest in because it hasn't been rugpulled or controlled by anyone 

An investor in bitcoin is guaranteed long-term profits, but an investor in altcoins has no idea what will happen to their investment tomorrow. Investment in altcoins is a risky endeavor, and not every newbie has the mental capacity to continue when they witness the value of their money invested in altcoin decline in line with the price of Bitcoin.

I'm sure that most of the members here will agree that it would be better for you to invest in Bitcoin. Because the main investment, especially for the long term, is Bitcoin. and of this there is no doubt.

However, if you want altcoins because you don't have much money, then study and analyze the top altcoins only. Top altcoins which incidentally have a large market cap but the price is still quite small. Check at Coin Market Cap or at CoinGecko.

And make sure you don't ever be tempted by new altcojns and hype, especially the kind of meem coins which even though they promise various big promises regarding profits. That's really risky

I will recommend you buy BTC, it has utilities and you can totally control your money when you use BTC. Though take note that it is not a get rich quick scheme, so you must be patient, if you are looking for pump and dump coins, you should buy altcoins.

If you decide to buy BTC, store it in your self custodial wallet and make more than one backup of your seed phrase. Examples of recommended wallets are Electrum, BlueWallet, Sparrow, etc.

If you have $500, I suggest you buy top 10 coins.
bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB, Solana, Cardano, XRP, Avax.
But don't buy meme coins such doge, shib.
It's more risk.

But it depends on your confidence, buy coins that make you confident will gain profit.

The logic of many investors is this.
If you buy Bitcoin, you need to see its price double for that $500 of your to double.
If you invest that with altcoins then it will be more than that like 10x to 100x or even more. But at what type of risk you have to take?
IMO, I'll choose the slow growth but I don't have to be stressed out and that is with Bitcoin. If with this amount, you want it to grow more by spreading on altcoins but that's just me. But as someone who sees the market with opportunities, you can always test to invest in other things but don't forget that you may need to hold btc in the long run.
