Title: Eco-friendly Bitcoin mining.
Post by: Spaffin on March 28, 2021, 12:36:21 PM
Many opponents of cryptocurrency, as well as some governments of certain countries, constantly speak out negatively about cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin. They confirm their opinion not only by economic or other factors, but also by statements of the great harm of mining to the environment.
Of course, mining cryptocurrency requires huge computing power, and for this, miners need large amounts of electricity.
Recently, cryptocurrency mining company Argo Blockchain announced the creation of a new mining pool called Terra Pool, which will operate exclusively on green energy. That is, this Pool for mining will not harm the environment, because it will use exclusively solar energy, wind energy and other alternative energy sources. Guys, do you think there is a reason to engage in alternative energy sources for mining, given that the manufacture and disposal of all the components that make up a power plant for the production of green energy also harm the environment? Thus, we get a vicious circle.

Green is need to be made available not only for mining but also for every uses of energy.
The energy consumption and its impact on the environment is really very low in comparison with other products we use like vehicles.

It always makes sense to engage in cryptocurrency because it will always be in demand and no matter how you earn it, the main thing is not to forget about it.

The biggest benefit from the project founders point is free Advertisement , exploitation  and alleviation of the " becoming extinct species" syndrome , diving deeper in to the subject one could even see the subconscious instinct of self preservation .... global warming = war , destruction , death ....

To see a real change not a people realation stutnt would see Bitcoin switching to less power hungry fraud prevention  method

I would say in this case that if our mineral energy were used instead of the electrical energy that was used to make bitcoin or cryptocurrency, then of course it would have a huge potential for damage to our environment.  There must be reasons to engage in alternative energy sources for mining that will have an impact on the environment in creating power plants.

It is more like drops that overfill the cup every bit adds up and we are standing on a brink of an ecological catastrophe and bitcoin is just another tiny drop that will tip the scale and we will be facing a mass extinction event on an unprecedented scale possibly less than 0.01 $ of humans will survive

It's sure to need an alternative energy sources for mining as bitcoin won't be used if we can't even survive in this earth.  ;D BTW, most of the mining farms are already on the moves to scale with this. Now, it becomes a major thing for mining farm to engage with those alternative energy sources to keep our environment good as well as continues the mining.

-snip-
Can you share information from the news.
There are many alternative energies that can be used by miners, but it costs a lot of money to make them. I don't know the exact calculation of the cost and electricity consumption of the miners, but if you look at the mining equipment that works for 24 hours, it requires a lot of electricity if you have more than 1000 mining equipment.
