For me, I would say that it really depends on the project that you are participating. It's pretty difficult nowadays to determine if that project is worth investing or doing bounty.
Ubex is one good example. Back then, they were having like almost 100k members in their official Telegram group, and their project was great. However, it turns out that there are many dumpers which pulled the token's price down. So either investing or doing bounty on this was a complete loss on our part.
Swacchcoin is another example, but a terrible one. They did have a great project concept, and their team did attended a Binance Supermeetup event to prove that they're transparent to their 70k+ community. But it turns out that they're an exit scam.

Investment is more better than bounties I could remembered last when I did bounty it took about 10 months to get my payment if not of 1 year and it worth nothing what I think then was if that I invested in bitcoin by now I could have gotten x3 or x5 of my time, though I took the bold steps to invest according to my level and have been trying as much as possible to increase my portfolio by doing DCA.
From most of my research it was said that bounty were paying heavily during 2014 to 2018 and i have seen most of the bounties to be totally worthless comparing to what a passed through and stress, if that they where paying as one is working I think that could have been different case but at this one have to wait for a long months or year before receiving payments.

I would suggest all high rank members to avoid bounties if you don't want to waste your time, however if a bounty is offering some good value in USD then you may participate in that one. Just as @SamReomo already said, I agree with him and I believe that bounty hunting or airdrops are just shit this time around because participant don't get a better share for the activities they do just promote the project. After promoting some projects, the bounty hunters don't get paid or after they receive payment, the token might not get listed in any exchange or the project might swap their coin, leaving behind bounty hunters.
