I had a a little when it didnt go anywhere and started dropping, then i moved it. They boast so much about its tech, but they have nothing on ground yet. May b in6 months something will materialize. and hopefully they will do something before its too late.

Myethereum wallet is a safe. Provide multiple safe ways to login and storing coins.
Dont lose your private keys and dont reveal them to anyone.
It can be a bit confusing initially about transferring ether and how much gas price to choose. but there are small and good articles out there tht you can read.

You should look for a ICO with a good team (check their linkedIn profile as well).
It should had a clear cause. Look at the issue they are trying to solve. Who else is in the same field and how they are addressing the issue.
Check the ICO ratings at ICObench coin gecko etc. Check how much its being talked about in media (hype is a also a factor).
last but not the least, check their whitepaper. If you do all that, if would ensure that you wont get scammed and probably will make good money

ETH, It doesnt have the problems associated with Bitcoin. Its developer team is more active than Bitcoin.
Above all, the number of projects being launched on ETH blockchain are humongous. THe sheer number of smart contract being made on Eth, justifies its price and usage unlike bitcoin which is called just a store of wealth (which get replaced by something else if they dont improve their tech)
ETH is not without issues, but at least their dev are making constant and visible efforts to mend it.
