Ethereum Forum / Re: Reason why you hold Ethereum
« Last post by Google+ on Today at 04:24:59 PM »
That's right, there are coins that have a greater chance of providing greater profits than ethereum, we can also invest there. but if we compare which one is safer and will provide profits even though it is not as big as other coins, I will choose bitcoin and ethereum as priorities and other coins as alternatives.
I think a coin that has the opportunity to provide greater profits will definitely have a very high risk, I don't dare to make a decision like that because it concerns the capital money I use for trading. So I also prefer to take safe action by buying bitcoin and ethereum as you said.

Cryptocurrency discussions / Re: Anonymity - good or bad?
« Last post by KingsDen on Today at 04:24:56 PM »
Privacy and anonymity are two different words with different meanings, but be it privacy or anonymity, the government is against it. But then the government can infringe people's privacy but might not be able to do same with anonymity. There are tools and ways to be anonymous without offending the government but this cannot be said about privacy. At a time, the government will try to force you to submit your data in one way or the other, going against this will mean going against the law.

I think an ideal solution is to allow customers to see how the company manages their data and decide whether they can keep their data or not, but it is probably not possible as of now for that solution to be mainstream.
The wrong way of managing the data can be shown customers while behind the scene, other things are happening. It is safer when you don't release your data at all than trusting someone to manage your data the way you like.

Ethereum Forum / Re: How will ETH fare throughout the year 2024?

The SEC has a lot to learn and they will definitely have considerations about approving an ethereum ETF, so it's best to wait. According to Sasya's predictions, the SEC will approve the ethereum ETF proposal. Because BTC has been approved.
That's right, the SEC chose to postpone the Ethereum ETF because there were several small problems that had the potential to pose quite a high risk to the public, so the SEC preferred to take action to postpone the Ethereum ETF for no specified time.

You should never, ever use a PRNG (pseudorandom number generator) when you are creating a wallet seed phrase, private key, or extended private key. Here is why:

PRNGs use a deterministic sequence to generate the numbers. Most PRNGs are seeded with a combination of process ID and the current date/time in unix timestamp format. Some are even worse and just leave the seed at zero or some other constant. This is very bad for security because it means attackers can guess the key from a limited number of inputs. So instead of 2^256 guesses as it's supposed to be, you're now looking at something like 86400 (in case you only know the day) times 3,000,000 (on Linux process IDs can get really large for long-running systems, on shorter-uptime systems or on Windows they can be even smaller) times like 5 or 10 in case the RNG was called that many times.

As you can see, this is easily calculated on a GPU, and will result in stolen funds once the private key is discovered.

I think bitaddress.org illustrates this very well.
It uses your mouse movements to generate extra randomness, showing how important it is not to rely in simple PRNGs techniques.

It is always better to use specific software for generatingyour wallet, such as electrum.

Honestly, I've always seen things like this as entertainment and maybe some kind of education. It is not a serious final solution, especially not for storing digital assets.

Ethereum Forum / Re: Will we really see an Ethereum ETF?
« Last post by rdluffy on Today at 04:19:30 PM »
The SEC has once again postponed its decision on ETH ETFs, and this is great news

If they were going to deny it, they would have already denied it, and just as with the BTC ETFs, the postponements may be being made to work out the details and ensure that everything is done correctly under American law

Great chances of approval in my opinion

Basic Questions about Cryptos / Re: Why bitcoin
« Last post by Dr.Bitcoin_Strange on Today at 04:19:30 PM »
Well of course Bitcoin offers more than enough advantages more over traditional system of payments.
The decentralized nature of bitcoin alone is one of the greatest advantages amongst others, because It makes bitcoin to operate independently without external interference of central banks, government authorities as well as other financial institutions, which means you as an individual have full control over your own money without anyone telling you what to do with it.

Then moving down to the security that bitcoin offers to its users. Bitcoin transacts are highly secured by advanced technologies known as Blockchain technology and cryptography, which makes it  irreversible and tamper proof.

Need I to also mention that you transaction with bitcoin globally, sending money to anywhere around the world regardless of borders or time zones. There are just so many importance and I can't list them all.
