Do you trust and expect elections on blockchain?
« on: December 28, 2020, 09:49:49 PM »
“Basically, blockchain can provide a way for voters to be reliably and securely registered to vote, and then when votes are cast, blockchain can be a mechanism for proving that somebody has the right to vote, based on their prior registration,” Hardman told Cointelegraph. “Blockchain can provide some features that would help with auditing a vote in an election,” he added.

“The recent stuff that we’ve seen with election challenges in Pennsylvania and Arizona and so forth — there are certain features of blockchain that would have made it possible to do more robust auditing,” Hardman said. “You’d basically be able to lay to rest any concerns about tampering and things like that.”

Article: Can blockchain technology make online voting reliable?

The US presidential election event continues to be the focus of the media when there are doubts about fraud in the vote counting process in many states. This is time we reiterate the potential of blockchain in this regard as election results cannot be fraudulent by third parties.

However, I don't think things need to be as complicated as the article mentioned, that it is necessary to do the validation so that each person can only vote once, I think we can build voting ATMs, where citizens can cast their ballots and choose candidates they trust. The results will be protected by the blockchain system and published directly to all.

Do you believe in this future form of election? Do you think it will be completely independent and reliable? Is there a risk of  problems with the election results?

I definitely think blockchain would be a great and trustworthy solution for voting.
There is only one concern that I have, it might be dumb but I've been thinking a lot lately about the blockchain and the issue of trust. People who understand how the blockchain works think it's a great advantage that we don't need to trust any middleman or central authority. However, not many people understand the blockchain, generally speaking, and I think the speculations about election fraud wouldn't go away because people have a tendency of not trusting things that they don't understand.

I support the advancement of blockchain technology and elections in America have given us an example that the electoral system can be done digitally, but there are a number of things that concern me, the election vote in blockchain technology certainly cannot be changed or manipulated, but do the voters know? about that? I don't think so, there are still many people who don't know blockchain technology and they will fully believe in the manipulation of election votes if there is no further education

Yes, the blockchain technology can be integrated into the voting system in order to make things more transparent and easily auditable. Frauds can always be big problems in any election as candidates will always exert all the efforts legal and illegal just to get the position desired. However, this can be taking time as changes in this aspect usually not adopted that fast. Let's hope those who are involved in the business of providing systems for election matters will look into the blockchain technology and include the same in the platform they are utilizing.

Why not? It can be trusted as long as we use it in a proper way. The problem isn't on the blockchain technology but on how the people use it for the election. Basically, blockchain technology can make the election to be more transparent and fair. However, some bad guys possibly to attack the result of the election. This is something that we must prepare to face if we use blockchain technology in the upcoming elections.

Blockchain would definitely be the last and most trustworthy way to cast votes, if blockchain is introduced into our voting system, alot of our electoral/voting issues like vote buying, election rigging, electoral violence, ballot snatching, the use of power of incumbency to determine the outcome of an election will all be a thing of the past, blockchain voting will really do us alot of good but the question now is that, will our greedy and selfish politicians allow blockchain voting implemented into our voting system?..?

I believe and believe that in crypto, everything is just an expectation. Because there is no certainty. However, by looking at events that have occurred in the past to the present, this blockchain will be able to survive and even reach big targets every day.

In the next few years, I think we will see a deeper penetration of blockchain technologies into our daily life, and it is possible that elections will also be held in 2-3 years on the blockchain

IMHO, I believe Yes, because it was promoting transparency, In fact, in my country Blockchain solution for Election counting has already proposed but due to the pandemic it was not push through, I believe the potential of a Blockchain-based election counting is very huge thats why I'm hoping that it will push through in the following years to come.

I believe that this will happen in the future the only thing I'm not comfortable with is the reliability of this system. Even this system is advance and highly recommended in the future it can still be use to fool the people from anyone who has the power to control it.

Yes, the time will come when almost every aspect of human activities may be integrated on the blockchain technology. I think gradually things, especially elections will be considered on the blockchain for a smooth election processes without doubt by everyone involved.
It not take long before these ideas will become realistic and I think it will a very good development.

If I am not mistaken, some countries have already used blockchain technologies for various elections, and if people will use blockchain technologies correctly, then of course we can trust blockchain technologies in elections, so I think every year more and more countries will use blockchain technologies for elections.

Of course this can be done in general elections using Blockchain technology. In fact, this will be better because it can avoid cheating in vote counting. I am sure that in the future many countries will use this system for various important purposes in the government system, including in this election.

I think that there are some issues to be solved. No connection of votes with identity. Private keys can be used, but the prvate key provider, will know who you are. If you create them ,you can vote, as many times as you want. I think, that this needs to be solved.
