How Bitcoiners are Working With El Salvador's Leaders
« on: June 22, 2021, 05:54:24 AM »
Bitcoiners are visiting El Salvador to speak with its most powerful people. Here's what they're discussing. In less than 80 days, El Salvador will become the first country to declare Bitcoin as legal tender. To help advance this controversial plan, Bitcoin's flag-bearers have visited the country to speak with politicians, help the El Salvadorans and eye a profit.
British Bitcoin podcaster Peter McCormack, for instance, traveled to El Salvador to document the new Bitcoin law. He was invited to create a film about El Salvador’s Bitcoin law by Jack Mallers, whose company, Strike, is piloting Bitcoin payments technology that cuts costs for Salvadoran emigrants sending money back home.source

El Salvador is the first country in the world to officially recognize Bitcoin as a legal tender.
Bitcoin was officially recognized as a currency in a congressional hearing in El Salvador on Tuesday. This will allow the US dollar as well as Bitcoin to be traded as a legal tender in the country within the next 90 days.
President Naib Boukel said the task would now be much easier for people in El Salvador who live abroad and send money home.
Many people in El Salvador depend on remittances from relatives in exile. About 20 percent of the country's GDP comes from remittances.

About 2 million people in El Salvador live abroad. But they have very close contacts with the motherland, they send about four billion or four hundred million US dollars a year to the country.

Of course this is good news.  I think those who manage Bitcoin as a whole should cooperate and support El Salvador.  El Salvador is one of the first countries in the world to approve all purchases of Bitcoin.  If this country is economically successful through this, then I see that other countries will also use Bitcoin in all fields.

President of El Salvador  has announced each registered citizen of their wallet app will receive $30 in free Bitcoin
“The wallet app will even work anywhere with a cell connection, and you won't have to have a cell plan for the app.”
I think it's great!

The simple fact that the wallet works without having to contract a data plan with any phone company to use it is a great advance. That says a lot of good things about the government's support for Bitcoin, "anyone, anywhere". I hope that El Salvador also supports other cryptocurrencies, it would be very beneficial for the community and the ecosystem in general.

El Salvador government now looks the most progressive in the field of blockchain and bitcoin, we need to see what happens next.  But as practice shows, the pioneers in this case receive the best dividends.

Bitcoin has allowed many individuals who believed in it early to raise themselves financially to a degree that wouldn't have been possible without it. Now we see the same thing beginning to take place with countries... a lot of the early adopters are the smaller, poorer countries and in time this will provide them economic advantage over later adopters.

I am sure that many countries with economic conditions similar to those of El Salvador will be studying the development of the country in the coming years. If economic development is favorable, many of these countries will soon adopt similar policies. President Nayib Armando Bukele Ortez has made a decision that can change the lives of millions of people.

Of course, if they see El Salvador can be successful to improve their economic and financial sector after legalizing Bitcoin as a legal tender, then will be many countries in the world want to learn it and probably follow it as well. Well, maybe it will take 1 or 2 years to see the impacts on El Salvador. However, I am pretty sure that El Salvador can show the world that they already decide wisely by having Bitcoin as a legal tender.

Re: How Bitcoiners are Working With El Salvador's Leaders

Of course, if they see El Salvador can be successful to improve their economic and financial sector after legalizing Bitcoin as a legal tender, then will be many countries in the world want to learn it and probably follow it as well. Well, maybe it will take 1 or 2 years to see the impacts on El Salvador. However, I am pretty sure that El Salvador can show the world that they already decide wisely by having Bitcoin as a legal tender.

I agree with you, but I also think we have to wait a bit to see how things evolve, the Bitcoin law as they call it seems like a great idea to me, but I also think that it takes a reasonable amount of time to see what problems this law may encounter along the way. It is possible that some business or banking sector does not agree with this idea and problems may arise.

Things happening in El Salvador are getting to be excited. Let's hope that institutional guardians will not be able to intervene to turn around the tide, hope they respect the sovereignty of this country and allow it to go on with the Bitcoin experiment as this can be the standard where others can review and analyze. And El Salvador has also the plan to go into Bitcoin mining using geothermal power, making it a clean, green source of Bitcoin. I am getting excited really for this small country.

Bitcoins I don't understand what El Salvador's leader Tui meant by the sentence. I have no idea about this so if anyone knows about this please help me. I don't want to comment on unknown information before wasting time.
