Zcash Forum / Zcash (ZEC) Market Performance
« on: May 25, 2018, 05:03:28 AM »
The Zcash (ZEC) has not been spared by the current market onslaught; it has shed most of last year’s gains but seems to be stabilizing if the last 7 day performance is anything to go by. The coin is trading at $176.52 after going down 5.44% to the dollar. Compared to other privacy Altcoins, it is clear that Zcash is the better in terms of market performance. The price might be slightly higher but the coin’s future is bright and putting your stakes on the network is the best thing to do.

Zcash Forum / Can Zcash Win the Privacy Coin Battle?
« on: May 25, 2018, 05:00:08 AM »
We’ve seen that Zcash is doing plenty to keep itself in contention in the privacy coin contest. The development history is good, they frequently inform the community of their progress, they are backed by a solid team with research experience, and their Github page is active.

Zcash is also hosting a conference in Montreal, called Zcon0, at the end of June, the details of which we will shortly receive.

For example, Monero is one of the hottest privacy coins. It utilizes a different system called ring signatures to ensure privacy, and it has the benefit of being on the market much longer than its competitors. Some believe Zcash’s Sapling upgrade will make scaling and mobile transactions possible, setting it up to overtake Monero. For that, we’ll have to wait until September. In the meantime, it will be interesting to see how the development of different privacy coins pans out.

Zcash Forum / How Does Zcash Differ From Zcoin?
« on: May 25, 2018, 04:57:26 AM »
To distill it into quick and easy terms, Zcash differs from Zcoin in the following ways:

Both Zcash and Zcoin hide the identities of the sender and recipient. However, Zcash additionally obfuscates the transaction amount.
It is currently very difficult to detect hyperinflation in Zcash because of the obfuscation. It is unauditable, where Zcoin can be audited because its transaction history is available.
Zcash’s technology is uncharted space, and there is hesitancy regarding the assumption that bad actors will not collude. Zcoin’s technology has undergone much peer review.
Zcash uses more memory and has longer transaction times, while Zcoin requires more storage space

Zcash Forum / Zcash News

Zcash is a cryptocurrency based on a decentralized Blockchain, aiming for making transactions more private than they are in the Bitcoin blockchain. ZEC (Zcash token) transactions, like Bitcoin’s, are published in a public Blockchain, but unlike Bitcoin Zcash allows users to selectively disclose private information.

Zcash provides two types of keys: a “view key” and a “spend key.” While the latter is used to spend funds, the former is used to allow some individuals to see private information about your transactions. View keys may be used for an audit or sharing information without disclosing it to the entire world.

Zcash also provides encrypted memo fields that offer an opportunity of delivering messages to the recipient of the transaction that only a view key holder can see. This can be used to deliver simple messages, or such things as payment code sand confidential or commercial information.

Steem - Steemit Forum / Can Steem be profitable?
« on: May 25, 2018, 04:43:41 AM »
There are many opportunities to earn rewards by participating in the Steem network. Rewarding individuals for creating and curating content that provides value to the community is at the core of Steem. That being said, new users should have realistic expectations: it’s rare for an individual to have a first post go viral and earn a huge reward.

Steem - Steemit Forum / Steem has three cryptocurrencies
« on: May 25, 2018, 04:39:39 AM »
STEEM. STEEM is the foundational cryptocurrency of the Steemit network. STEEM can be exchanged for bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies via several prominent exchanges. In order to cast votes, however, you need to turn your STEEM into Steem Power (SP). This process is known as “powering up.” You can also convert STEEM into Steem Dollars.
Steem Power (SP). When you turn STEEM into SP, you are investing it in the network as equity. One unit of STEEM, vested as SP, equates to one vote. Those with the most SP to contribute have the greatest influence over which content is elevated to the top. Upvotes and downvotes, or “flags,” from users holding large amounts of SP are worth more than users with less SP. Additionally, around 90% of new STEEM that is created goes to users who hold a lot of SP, which creates an incentive for participants to invest their earnings back into the network. Rate limits are in place on converting SP back into STEEM, known as “powering down.”
Steem Dollars. Steem Dollars, valued at 1:1 with the US dollar, are a unit used to represent a short-term debt. Holding Steem Dollars is described in Steem’s whitepaper as a way of lending the community the value of one US dollar, which is designed to foster growth.

Steem - Steemit Forum / How is Steem different from bitcoin?
« on: May 25, 2018, 04:38:12 AM »
Both Steem and bitcoin were designed with a particular function in mind. Bitcoin was created to serve as a digital, peer-to-peer currency. Steem is, at its core, a social media platform. Many social media platforms use voting systems, such as upvotes, shares, or “likes,” to prioritize content. Steem incorporates these concepts into a unique, blockchain-based platform that pays users in STEEM for their contributions to the network. While STEEM and bitcoin are both cryptocurrencies, STEEM’s usage is specific to social networks.

« on: May 25, 2018, 04:35:49 AM »
An SMT is a native digital asset on the Steem blockchain. SMTs can be launched by anyone to help monetize online content and create incentives to encourage desired user behavior.

SMTs are like Ethereum's ERC-20 tokens, but with certain built-in ‘Proof-of-Brain’ properties and a token distribution reward system designed specifically for digital content businesses.

Steem - Steemit Forum / Steem News
« on: May 25, 2018, 04:29:17 AM »
Steem is explained as a fundamental unit of account on a platform called Steemit. Steemit is a Blockchain-based platform where users can publish content and vote on it like on every other social media platform, but with the difference that on Stemmit, they are rewarded with tokens.

The Steem network gives new Steem units to publishers and voters every day. Steem can be exchanged either on Steem Power (SP) or Steem Backed Dollars (SPD). Steem Power is a token used to upvote content, which helps to get a revenue both for a voter (in SP) and for a publisher in (SPD) proportionate to how much Steem Power the voter has. Steem Powered Dollars represent an amount of Steem equal to 1 USD. SMD helps to protect content creators from the volatility of the Steem cryptocurrency by promising them that they’ll get a fixed amount of money, no matter how much Steem will cost when they cash out.

Steem is a cryptocurrency that was released in 2016. It can be traded on the open market through cryptocurrency exchanges and obtained in exchange for goods or services. The price is very volatile due to the limited amount that's available on the markets. It's not very liquid and relatively small trades can move the price. NEO Forum / What Is NEO? Introduction To NEO / GAS
« on: May 24, 2018, 03:41:12 PM »
What is NEO? It has been dubbed the “Chinese Ethereum,” and this description goes a long way to illustrate what it does: provides a native Chinese platform for tokens and decentralized applications, similar to Ethereum but with important technical differences.

NEO exists to bring the blockchain to Chinese developers, businesses, financial institutions, and even the government. Its tokens and decentralized applications can do anything the Ethereum network is capable of doing, with decentralized applications able to be programmed in several programming languages.
