What happened to my karma?

I woke up this morning and when I opened Telegram I received a very annoying message:


I was completely frustrated, what happened? What did I do to receive all this negative karma or in other words why was all my positive karma deleted?

I know for sure that I have not committed any mistakes or abuse in the forum and I try to write well while adhering to the rules.

I hurried to open the browser to enter the forum to find out what happened, but the site would not open and a message from Cloudflare appeared stating that the site could not be accessed. I felt anxious and spent a difficult time for about an hour until the site opened.

When I logged into my account, I found that the number of positive karmas remained the same (38) and had not changed. I felt relieved, but I wondered what happened?

Is there a problem with the site? Or is there a problem with the notification bot?

I think it was a problem with the bot failing to connect to the server, or the server sending out incorrect data since the forum was being down for maintenance purposes I assume. I saw others who have also had the same problem, including myself. I was surprised too and wanted to check it out ASAP but the forum was not available before, so that's that. Maybe you can direct this request to the bot thread too, or just wait if the karma will be updated later if you receive another one.

I had the same issue and I was frustrated as well. It was 3 AM at night and I didn't notice the notification till the morning. I woke up for morning prayer and saw the notification that all my karma was deleted. I thought I got any kind of penalty. Then I tried to access the website but I couldn't. I thought I was banned for some reason even though I did not violate any forum rules.

Then I checked the website with Is it me only or is it down for everyone? Then I understand the website is down for everyone. But, I was confused as hell. I have to disable the bot if it gives incorrect like that. What a shitty moment it was.

That happened only because the forum was down. The Telegram bot shows negative karma when forum is down. I think the bot needs to get updated. I also stopped using the bot a few days ago because it wasn't working, and then when I tried to restart the bot, it is unstable now.

Don't  get frustrated because your Karma is intact mate as we can see from here there are still 38 and nothing have been taken from you its just the  Bot that maybe did not comply correctly as we have a forum down for  hour and according to the chatbox they have been restored and maybe There are some update from Admin to be announced anytime soon.

I expect that this is the most likely possibility, since the problem is general and everyone is complaining about the same thing. The possibility is, as you said, “The Telegram bot shows negative karma when the forum is down.” It is possible that the bot fails to read the positive karma and shows negative karma.

So maybe we need @PX-Z to see the problem and update the notification bot to avoid such annoying problems in the future.

I also experienced the same thing, but a few minutes later there was a message that the negative karma I got had returned again. Notifications from this bot appeared when I was sleeping, so I couldn't immediately check my karma at that time.

Thanks to the information from friends here, I understand and maybe this is a good indication too, where when you get a notification that the forum is down, there will be a notification like this. At first I was quite panicked because karma means quite a lot to me.

Hope PX-Z can update its Telegram bot for this problem.

Check the discussion on the telegram bot thread, i don't think new thread is necessary since it's not a forum related issue but the telegram issue. And yes, most of the reply is correct, it's because of the forum's downtime and my site's downtime too, so i adjusted the code to prevent this happening again, and apologize for the inconvenience it cause.

Not just you, but a lot of other users also recieved that same notification from their telegram notification bot, like a  very close friend of mine also reached out to me over the night to complain that he's forum positive karma was just wipped out, and the forum was unaccessible to him, I honestly was surprised, but asked him to calm down, that the forum was possibly down for maintainance, that this morning, we would check what happened, luckily, we I logged in this morning, I discovered that his positive Karma was intact, so possibly, the notification was as a result of a bug, which must have emanated on some accounts as the site was being updated or upgraded.

And I don't think it's a bug from the telegram bot, since I didn't receive such notification, so, it's possibly a forum bug that briefly affects some accounts.
Happy everything was back to normal quick enough.

EDIT = ok, I just read PX-Z reply above mine, it was a telegram issue, not the forum, but I wonder why I also did not get the same negative Karma notification, if it was a telegram issue, wasn't it supposed to be a general notification?

I think there was issue in telegram(now PX-Z confirmed)or maybe in the forum because the forum was gone under maintenance. I have opened telegram notification for updates and my habit is to check notification when wake up. When I checked notification today, the Karma remove notification shocked me because I didn't do any wrong, not broke any foum rules or abuse karma. I think tried to open forum but forum was under maintenance which increase my frustrations. When sites open after some hours then I breathed a sigh of relief after checking that My Karma is available there.

Good question, idk how it actually happened, but my thoughts is, it's the time my site was down (as i mentioned earlier) after sending some tg notification to others and it stopped sending when the site's server gone down too. Although i received a notification it got back after the forum back to normal, like the screenshot below.

This is the second time it happened when the forum was down my site was down too for several minutes.

For the record the forum was down for at least 87 hours or so.

I am wondering why I did not receive such an impromptu notifications too. The forum was down for hours last night and I did not receive any of such notification yesterday up till this morning. I could not even open altcointalk, so there was  no way to check if my karma was gone or not. It might have been as a result of the bot not being able to connect with the site just as someone already said. Now you have your karma back, +1 from me.

Haha, I was also shocked to see the same message from the telegram bot, I just shared this problem with PXZ but at the time point, I think this problem that the bot has faced is due to the forum being down. As the bot scrapped data from the forum and the forum was down, so it was the problem of the forum not of the bot.

I did not realize if any other person would have faced this issue but I was silly with this thought, Well, I was in asleep at that time, so after seeing that the website was down so I thought the error in the bot might be due to the website, so I fall sleep and when I wake up 3 to 5 hours later, when the website is working, and I checked the karma and then relieved to see the karma.

Thank you, sorry, I did not see that the problem was written in the bot thread. When I opened the forum, I searched in the section forum related if someone had written the topic, but I did not find it, so I created a new thread.

I bet it's just a coincidence as my site is up only after several minutes (below 30 minutes to be exact), the hosting of altt is different from mine, at least that's what i know based on whois lookup's details.
