Would you invest in BTC or MicroStrategy MSTR?

I would invest in Bitcoin directly, rather than buying through a company. If I invest in bitcoins I will have complete control over my bitcoins means I will control my own money. And I am confident about the potential of Bitcoin, I think that at some point Bitcoin will give more than expected results. Bitcoin has a lower profit return than MSTR, but Bitcoin investors value Bitcoin more than MSTR and will continue to value Bitcoin in the future.

I am not really a professional trader, and besides, as far as I know about Microstrategy, it is an American company that provides IT related services and its owner is Michael J. Saylor, who is one of the biggest whales in bitcoin holding competition. First of all I have mentioned that I am not a professional trader and have no idea of investing in stock market, I am just investing in Bitcoin DCA method. Since my knowledge of technical analysis is less and the concept of stock market is less, I do not see any other way except to maintain this long term holding strategy on my bitcoin. BTC Spot ETF is having a huge impact on BTC price, it is even said to be the reason why BTC has created a new ATH before Halving - something that has never happened in the past. So, even though MSTR could generate higher returns, I will still continue to self-custody my BTC instead of investing in MicroStrategy's MSTR and then putting my faith in Michael Saylor's decisions. And even though Michael Saylor has asserted that MicroStrategy will never sell BTC ^[5], I think the question is only "when" and not "if".

I'm not based in the US so I can't invest in MSTR, but it's really attractive if chosen based on profit performance.

1. If possible, I would choose both: a majority holding in BTC for safety and high returns, and a smaller portion to buy MSTR with higher risk but also proven higher returns by data.

2. In a bull run, the rising price of BTC will drive up the price of MSTR, especially through financial leverage and thanks to the large number of investors and strong capital flow on the stock exchanges, MSTR will increase in price even more than BTC.

3. As you mentioned, I also don't believe MSTR is safer than BTC. That means investing in MSTR is no safer than investing in BTC, it's just more accessible to traditional investors who want to diversify their portfolio with a BTC-related stock.

As long as I am capable of holding onto my Bitcoin safely and securely, I don't need to invest in MSTR because it is just better that you hold onto your asset by yourself with the determination not to sell unless you have accumulated the amount of profit you desire. 

If an individual invests in MSTR for a certain amount, I think they will still have the amount of profit that is equal to their capital if they invest in Bitcoin and hold until the price has surged to the same price that MSTR would sell their holdings. 

It depends on the individual's ability to store their assets in such a way that they will not fall victim to hacks or thefts that can result in the loss of funds. Apart from that, investing and having your Bitcoin in your custody is the best.

BlackRock already has 239,252 BTC worth 15.6bn$ on its balance sheet as collateral for a spot Bitcoin ETF - that's more than 1.1% of the final issuance of the first cryptocurrency.

Personally I am invested in bitcoin, although if I had considerably more money I wouldn't mind having a small percentage in MSTR shares, as it is like adding a potential risk that also gives you a higher potential return. 1. I will choose BTC because I am not familiar with the US stock market. Holding BTC in my account makes me feel more comfortable being in control of my assets.

2. In the past, MSTR has generated better returns than BTC, and this may continue in the uptrend due to Saylor's promotional ability.

3. For people who are not experienced in using blockchain, buying MSTR is easier and safer for them, because everything is in their brokerage account. On the other hand, people who understand blockchain will prefer to self-custody BTC because Bitcoin blockchain is more secure than the exchange management system.

Currently, thanks to financial leverage, we see MSTR generating higher returns than BTC, I believe this will still be true in the 2024-2025 uptrend. Traditional investors may be attracted to this, while experienced crypto investors will choose BTC for its security and self-custody capabilities.

I think investors can allocate assets to both BTC and MSTR to get the benefits of both while still ensuring high returns and low risk.

Regarding the possibility of MS selling crypto: I think we will soon have an answer from MS in 2026.
