@TOYMAN, I think the best way to explain things is to address them directly. If your brothers can see what you do on the forum, it may be easier for them to understand how it works and what its benefits are. Explain to them what a subforum is, how to create a thread or how to respond to a post, for example. If they see how you do simple things like that, I think they will quickly understand how the forum works and the different features available. You can also encourage them to create an account and experiment for themselves. They will have all the help they need.

Forum related / Re: Should reputation follow you here?
« on: April 15, 2024, 07:14:23 PM »
It's still only a couple of negative tags and some DT exclusions. If the administration does not moderate the scam, what else can the forum members do against the scammers? When it comes to altcoinstalks forum, they moderate scams here and if you can prove that someone is a scammer, they will get the special scammer badge and they may get banned as well.

10 or a hundred negative tags are not enough to stop these scammers. They should be banned if they are proven scammers. We know that it's easier to create another account and come back again. But they will have to spend enough time to rank up again.

There will be no problem with scammers here, their accounts will be blocked immediately and marked as a scam, as happened a few days ago with two new accounts that offered high salaries (I seem to remember that one of the salaries was $700 a week in ETH.) for downloading a game and performing tests, as a curious note, that "game" only worked on Windows and Mac. What users need to understand is that we need your help to monitor and present evidence, if any, in case a scammer is detected. The more eyes we have on the forum, the more peace of mind and good conversations we can have knowing that no one is going to be scammed. I am convinced that together we can create a good atmosphere in the forum.

Basic Questions about Cryptos / Re: Need advice for bitcoin wallet..
« on: April 15, 2024, 05:08:46 PM »
Some people wouldn't have been found in the situation they were if they had know the best ways to safe and keep their wallet within their own control than using a custodial means to store their asset, we have seen series of event that led to the ways of how people have lost their crypto asset either due to scam or using a custodial means of storage like the exchanges, that is why we need exposure of various kinds of wallet and know the best ones for use.

What you are saying is called knowledge. Information, knowledge and resources are public, anyone can access them and learn how to improve the security of their wallets without having great technical knowledge. The problem, as I've said several times, is that people don't want to learn, people don't want to "waste time" learning how to backup their private keys when they can do it somewhere else by pressing a simple button, and this is just one example, there are many more, and there will be more as many new investors believe they have it all thanks to exchanges and centralized wallets.

Unfortunately this is not going to change, as the percentage of people willing to “waste their time” is very small compared to the constant bombardment of exchanges and centralized services that are available. When we talk about our funds, convenience shouldn't play a big role; In fact, it should be the last thing we should think about.

Bitcoin Forum / Re: Lost, Forgotten Bitcoin. How many are there?
« on: April 15, 2024, 03:53:56 PM »
If I am not mistakenly I think have came across post like that either here or other forum where a total number of bitcoin address with their holdings were Sum up, okay.. How do we consider a lost bitcoin; To me any bitcoin that is stored inside a wallet for about 4 years to 15 years or above can be considered lost bitcoin because the wallet is dead and hence no transaction has been carried out for these numbers of years is considered lost. Maybe whenever I comes across that post again I will come here to edit and update my post.

Could you tell me what your reasoning is for choosing a time range of 4 to 15 years?. Is it for any specific reason or is it random?. I have wallets (not Bitcoin) with funds for 10 years and I have not moved a single coin/token, not because its value is 0, but because I have decided so, although I must also say that the value in $ is small. I think no one can define (unless the owner of that wallet says so publicly and can prove ownership) when funds in a wallet are lost or not.

I still think no one can define something like that just by looking at when the last outgoing transaction was, if there was one. I think trying to interpret something like that is a waste of time, and depending on who (I'm not saying it's you) it's just an excuse to try to extract the funds if possible.

Privacy Coins Forum / Re: OKX to delist privacy coins
« on: April 15, 2024, 12:42:54 PM »
Alas, sooner or later we would have come to that. Any kind of anonymity has always been attractive to the authorities to close this function. I wouldn't be surprised (absolutely) if soon the SEC will speak out on this issue + start demanding (forcibly) that all exchanges remove such coins from trading pairs, etc.

P.S. It is worth accepting the problem and coming to terms with it. Alas, we as users can't change much in this matter. And it is unlikely (I think so) that we will be able to influence (in any way) future regulation by the authorities (of most countries).  :o

The SEC can file as many lawsuits as it wants, that is not a problem in itself. The problem is with the exchanges that receive these lawsuits and where their licenses operate. If those exchanges are licensed outside the United States and countries related to the United States, they will be able to continue operating without problem. The problem will come when some exchanges have to obey without being able to give their reasons, at that point they should remove the privacy coin pairs and continue on their way.

Another added problem is that although there are countries where the SEC does not have jurisdiction, their governments could rely on United States regulations to, by modifying certain parts, have very similar guidelines, which would end up being the same, and authorized exchanges should also end up deleting privacy coin pairs.

I didnt know about that, but I agree.
Can we see the list or record of all the badges in forum?
In some rear cases everyone could write a lot of posts in forum, if we are in some heated discussion with other members about topics that are very popular, but that is just exception from the rule.

From any of your posts (or any other user's posts) you can access the Master Badge List, just look at the bottom of any post on the left side of the user's profile. You can find it at: Total Badges: 15 Badges: (View All). Simply click on View All and it will take you to the list of badges the user earned and you will see a link to the full list.

Master Badge List.

Audits are usually positive when making certain assessments of possible risks, but not always. Something better, and that would give greater credibility and reputation to any exchange, is to deposit all guaranteed deposits (although not all exchanges have it) in an external escrow. The problem with exchanges themselves protecting their own collateral funds is that, in the event of a collapse, those funds can also disappear. If it is an external escrow that is guarding those funds there should be no problem, and users affected by the exchange's bankruptcy could receive all the lost funds, and they could continue with their trading activities.

Something like this could have prevented, at least in part, many of the disasters we have seen in the industry. But I am almost 100% sure that no exchange would be willing to allow another company to protect its reserve funds. And the answer is very simple.

No me refería a otra cosa.

Centralized exchanges, privacy coins, and now decentralized exchanges... I'm actually not surprised by what the SEC is doing as it is very predictable. They continue to think that they are the police of the world, and that with the excuse of caring about user investments, which is too simple a lie, they try to control crypto activity. Among other things, the only thing they are looking for, in my opinion, is to force the use of centralized exchanges, which would be a great success for them, since on the other hand they are forcing centralized exchanges to launch stricter policies regarding KYC.

As I have been saying for years, everything is focused on greater and better control of citizens and their funds. By fully controlling the citizen and their funds, governments will be able to know at all times what they do, where they go, where they spend...

It's true, those who create articles just want to lure visitors to increase their website traffic. Bitcoin is still a technology that cannot be hacked easily, there are still many who are trying to try it but no one has succeeded. So I believe Bitcoin will be the security of the future.

The security of Bitcoin is something that has never worried me. As I said, if someday there was a technology capable of decrypting the algorithm, that same technology would be able to protect it. Everyone who has tried has failed, As we know, the security of Bitcoin depends on several factors, and vulnerabilities can always arise somewhere in the system, especially when new additions are implemented in the protocol, although as we already know the most common attacks are on exchanges or individual users, but not to the algorithm itself.

Does anyone believe that if SHA-256 could be hacked, the NSA (for example) wouldn't have done it already?. And before anyone asks, no, AI can't hack SHA-256 either. Let's use common sense.

Memef coins would soon fade out because we are having much of them than we should. Just take a look at the exchanges, not a day will go without meme coin been listed and all of them are just with objective of making profits for traders and investors. Some are even scams and I think when the profits are not coming from these coins again, they will stop buying and even the teams will stop launching the meme coins.

What you say is something that I have been waiting for for a long time, but unfortunately I never believe that new meme coins designed to fill the wallets of a few will stop appearing. Users (especially new ones) are just looking for a quick buck, they don't care about the technology or what a project could solve, nor do they want to be a part of that project to make it work and move up in the industry. The only thing they usually think about is being the first to buy billions of tokens while they wait for new users and sell en masse so they can move on to the next meme coin with fresh money.
