Ideal Number of Coins in a Portfolio?

What is the ideal amount of coins to hold in a portfolio? Forget about the actual size of investment, how thin should I be spreading it across different coins? Currently I have more than 20 coins, but I would like to get it down to 15 max, and even this is probably too many to get any real benefit if one of them decides to go on a huge bull run. I think holding between 10-12 maximum, that represents 70-80% of a portfolio (not including ETH/BTC) is about right, with a bit of extra fiat (or ETH/BTC) to do some swing trading here and there.

There is no ideal number, everyone is different.  Just remember to have a good balance between BTC, other top-10 coins, mid-range coins and other/newer alts.  You could also use an app like Blockfolio to help you keep track of changes.

Agreed with above. You can diversify as much as you would like as long as you can track all your coins. I consolidated my portfolio because I couldn't keep track of 30+ coins. I'm down to 12 of the top 30 and I hold a separate MEWallet for all my ICO/Airdrop tokens.

You could also use an app like Blockfolio to help you keep track of changes.

I used to use Blockfolio, but found the balances would fluctuate wildly. I've converted to Delta now, much better in my opinion. Haven't used Blockfolio in over a month now, so they may have improved it, or maybe it was just me that had the issue. Anyway, happy enough with the accuracy that Delta gives, so will be using that for the moment.

I personally don't think that the number of different coins can work if u have faith is 2-3 coins just invest it in only in those 2-3 coins either it will make you millionaire or a poor person its a game of luck.

I guess luck is one element, but really only a small one. There are plenty of ways to do research on projects and decide on which ones have the best potential to succeed, plus analysis of past performance. If everyone relied on luck, the exchanges wouldn't exist. And I think a portfolio of 2-3 is too small, doesn't give you enough leeway if one has a huge drop (although if I could pick 3 guaranteed winners, I'd be laughing).

I will not advise you to be specific in the number of coin to have in your portfolio. Hodl coins that has the ability to move from low to high and vice versa. I  actually like new coins on the market as they have the ability to do that but it should be done wisely. Of late, every coin goes done moments after listing so getting those coins will be a failure unlike at first when most coins drop and rise to the moon.
