Both of them have their respective functions.
If DOGE is used for cheaper transactions when arbitrating and Bitcoin is used for long-term investment and trading every day.

Which is more profitable and most preffered by the many?

I prefer bitcoin than dogecoin, but I will buy more dogecoin later because dogecoin can increase in anytime. But yes, bitcoin is the most profitable among the other coin because bitcoin have the high price and once we can make a profit, the profit will bigger than the other. So don't forget to buy bitcoin besides dogecoin because with buying both coins, you can make a double profit too.

Bitcoin (₿) is a cryptocurrency, a form of electronic cash. It is a decentralized digital currency without a central bank or single administrator that can be sent from user-to-user on the peer-to-peer bitcoin network without the need for intermediaries.Transactions are verified by network nodes through cryptography and recorded in a public distributed ledger called a blockchain. Bitcoin was invented by an unknown person or group of people using the name Satoshi Nakamoto and released as open-source software in 2009.Compared with other cryptocurrencies, Dogecoin had a fast initial coin production schedule: 100 billion coins were in circulation by mid-2015, with an additional 5.256 billion coins every year thereafter.

Bitcoin has been criticized for its use in illegal transactions, its high electricity consumption, price volatility, thefts from exchanges, and the possibility that bitcoin is an economic bubble. Bitcoin has also been used as an investment, although several regulatory agencies have issued investor alerts about bitcoin.Dogecoin is an open source peer-to-peer digital currency, favored by Shiba Inus worldwide.

if DOGE is used for arbitrage at low cost and Bitcoin is used to trade altcoins on various exchanges. Both have good investment value.

Dogecoin, "an open source peer-to-peer cryptocurrency, favored by Shiba Inus worldwide" now accounts for more transaction volume than every other cryptocurrency combined, including Bitcoin, Litecoin and Quarkcoin.Bitcoin has been criticized for its use in illegal transactions, its high electricity consumption, price volatility, thefts from exchanges, and the possibility that bitcoin is an economic bubble. Bitcoin has also been used as an investment, although several regulatory agencies have issued investor alerts about bitcoin.

The many probably prefer bitcoin, but I prefer dogecoins.  If bitcoin goes 10x, dogecoins can go 40x, alt coins appear to rise and drop quicker than the bitcoin.

I think both of them have their own functions.
Bitcoin as a cryptocurrency and DOGE pioneer is the first altcoins that have a lot of supply and are made arbitrary to reduce the fee.

I prefer Bitcoin because from the fundamental Bitcoin more stronger than Dogecoin. Value of Bitcoin and Dogecoin is very different, Bitcoin price is strong up trend but price of Dogecoin just stay around 25-150 sathosi. And fundamental of Dogecoin not strong to bring the price to go higher. And other thinng , Bitcoin is profitable for longterm investment but Dogecoin not, possible to make profit only from day trading.

bitcoin, people prefer bitcoin and in terms of profit it is how people can process a coin itself, in my opinion indeed the potential of bitcoin is far different from dogecoin, but if we cannot trade it and tend to lose advice I switch first to trading dogecoin which risks not too big.
bitcoin is suitable for long-term investment, dogecoin can be a training tool for trading, that's my conclusion.
