Good reason, As long as pandemic covid 19 , we lack of work. Several place have been lock downed. Several activities limited.
It is the reason why many people joined crypto. It's my opinions that I shared here.

You're right, crypto currency is volatile and not easy to gain profit from our investment.
But If we hold for long term investment,  I think It's the best way to do.
I invested in crypto maybe for along years, and gain big profit for hold.
For day trading, I just gain small profit.

agreed hold is good way to gain large profit.
I held several potential coins for long term, more 3 years.
I also do day trading, although gained small profit but I needs profit daily for my other income.
So, I think short or long term investment , both are good way to do.

I have seen a lot of people around me joining due to lack of jobs during the epidemic season, some because the price of btc is very good so they want buy altcoin, a few others came from IEO, etc

Cryptocurrency have turned my life around and saved me from financial disaster. I was financially broke for so many years because of my unstable job as a home-based virtual assistant and freelancer. I chose this path instead of a traditional office work that would not make me grow my value and worth as an individual.

Initially, my parents were against this path of mine because of uncertainties and instability. Technically, they were right because office jobs can give me stable income but no room for growth. I endured it for years until I was introduced to cryptocurrency (thanks to Bitcoin’s resurgence to a then-ATH of $10k) that really changed my life and ending the doubts of my parents about my career path.

Now I am happy to be a full-time Youtuber, KOL and ambassador of various crypto projects, and also being a keynote speaker for both local and overseas universities and communities before the pandemic. Crypto opens the door to an infinite number of possibilities and opportunities which I wanna make the most of it.

I known bitcoin from my friend at 2016, he suggested me to participate in bounty campaign to gain free tokens then converted to top coins.
It was nice , I got income from it.
Then I continue to participate bounty campaign, trading and holding until now.

Maybe these altcoins are potential with their hype and pump price. Ad this will be very worthy for professional traders who have been trading this kind of hype coins by utilizing the pump and dump market price. But, I don't think that these coins will be worthy for long-term investment.
