Cryptocurrency Ecosystem sections re-org
« on: November 21, 2020, 09:00:42 PM »
A follow up proposal to move coins now ranked much lower to "Other Popular Cryptos / Coins" sub-section (to hide them away a bit):
NEO (#22), NEM (#24), DASH (#28) ( IOTA (#30), Zcash (#36), Waves (#40), OmiseGo (#42)

Also a few that could be moved to "Community Coins & Tokens" for similar reasons:
BAT (#54), Dogecoin (#48) and STEEM (#139!!!)

This would definitely help clean things up a bit, leaving projects ranked >#20 with sub-sections only.
(Ethereum, Litecoin, XRP, Monero, Cardano, EOS, Stellar, TRON --- the projects that are keeping up with the market basically)

Consider it a form of "defrag", while still these projects would have sections listed as child boards of each sub-section.
It'd be nice for the ecosystem boards to not look like it's stuck in 2017, that's for sure ;)

Chainlink is currently ranked no.5, Polkadot no.8. Suggestion for new local boards for these two projects.

Cyrptocurrency ecosystem -> Polkadot
Cyrptocurrency ecosystem -> DeFi tokns -> Chainlink

Happy to move topics over as per usual  :)

PS - Probably Hero & Legends Lounge should be re-named to "Hero, Legendary, Mythical & Padawan Lounge" too  ;)

We need more time. I don't think it's right to do it so soon. Because there are so many sections in our forum. That's why the forum section is very good. Anyone who visits the forum makes good comments about the forum. So I think more time is needed to add the chainlink and polkadot sections.

Fair point thanks, you're right that cryptocurrency ecosystem boards are starting to look a bit "cluttered". This is mainly due to some old "large cap" coins that still have forum sections here, that have dropped rank significantly since this forum started, thus now the sections are much less popular.

A follow up proposal to move coins now ranked much lower to "Other Popular Cryptos / Coins" sub-section (to hide them away a bit):

Ethereum, Litecoin, XRP, Monero, Cardano, EOS, Stellar, except for these, the rest is not a post. So I agree with you that these are popular. However, apart from these, a new forum should be added with the exception of some of the rest. Even after that polkadot team I sent a message. I advised them for my native community ambassador. If they do one, then I believe I can discuss them in detail. But we have to be patient. chainlink since DeFi token. What section is in our forum. Do you think a child section should be created?

Thanks for you input, but not quite sure I understand. It would be good to have contact with the polkadot team for them to use a forum section if it get's created, but also no necessary. Usually the new forum sections appear due to community demand or interest, rather than project's approval or request. Either way, I think it's best to clean-up the ecosystem boards first, before considering creating any new forum sections there. A good re-org would make the eco-system take up half the space it does now if 10 projects were moved to the appropriate child boards, as proposed.

I was otherwise suggesting Chainlink to be "child board" of DeFi tokens, thus it would be listed there (not take up more precious forum space).

I am not leaving your words. I agree with you. But before creating a section for any coin, there should be some discussion with the coin #DevelopmentTeam . Negotiations may be forced, some grants for the forum community, or donations. If they do, they will play a role in improving the forum. I think it should be. But there are a lot more knowledgeable people here than me, I'm not aware of what kind of thinking they have. If a few dollars are available to improve the section's exchange forum, it will definitely be good for our forum community.

I think you're right, how we used to do things by adding new forum sections without really communicating with projects was a bit lazy  :P

Admin has agreed to a proposed re-org in a couple of weeks, so it'd be a good time to make contact with any projects wanting a forum section in the meantime  ;)

I support Cryptocurrency Ecosystem sections re-org, the most important thing is that the moderators are also active to monitor the section, even can provide the latest posts or updates, we know a lot of sections at the moment but no discussion

I think IOTA, NEM, Zcash, BAT, OMG sub forums can be merged with  Other Popular Cryptos / Coins Sub Forum. Other Popular Cryptos /coins can be renamed as "Other Altcoins".

I like the idea of simply renaming this subsection to "Other Altcoins", is sounds much better than the current description. I hope this proposal is implemented in some form either way.

I've proposed this to the Senate for approval, non-senators can still give opinion in this thread in the meantime:

Wow!! i think this is very good decision from president and Senator. It removes few non popular forums that removal  is needed. I will give special thanks both of you. Now forum looks more attractive and users will be very happy to see this new look. From experienced man, great thinking for all others. I will give +1 karma  ;D ;D
