PSA: Keep your Google 2FA master keys in a safe place

I've had Google 2FA set up for all my exchange accounts for a while now and I totally forgot where I put the backup codes they give you to recover your 2FA data.
Recently I had to factory reset my phone due to bootlooping and I lost my 2FA settings and I have no idea where I put those codes if i ever even wrote them down somewhere. The steps to reset 2FA on all the exchanges seems to be very in depth and cannot be done simply by email confirmation or something like that. Although I am hopeful that their support will help me out at least I only had my trading coins on exchanges and not my Hodl coins.
You never know if you're ever going to lose or need to reset your phone so keep those recovery codes somewhere safe and a place you'll know where to look. Also always keep coins you don't want to lose in your own hardware wallet.

what I did is
1- got a little notebook
2- printed out the barcodes
3- sticked them and written down the keys on my notebook

*lost my 2fa code for Bittrex months ago. It is a pain in the .ss

I have Google 2FA on my phone, I'm not certain where my keys are. Would the best recourse be to turn off 2FA on all 3 accounts I have, re install app, and re initiate 2FA fresh? I would have a different key for each account right?

as good as that master key is easily understood by you for everyday.
so when you forget then you remember it.

and I did that for Bittrex and Binance accounts.

Yes, storing 2fa code is very important. if you lose then it is very difficult to recover it unless you contact admin to restore your account.

I can't even remember how I have that app in my phone and use it to my exchange account.  Can we ask for that code again before something bad happen?

I put my 2fa google and private key in a safe hidden place that only me I know... it's very important because without these codes most of logins are lost forever..

Same experience.
I was lost my data , such as : password, google 2fa key, private key, submission bounty data that yet to be reported, etc.
I was lost these data when my phone accidentally hard restarted or bootlooping. I was forgot to backed up these data before.

So, some of my wallet which contains xlm and other tokens was lost.
And, I can't logged in on my exchanger. 2fa lost. There is no key written down

By the way, it is not simple to reset your 2fa on exchanger.
Each exchanger has different rules regarding 2fa reset.
Some of these is easy enough.
Some exchangers (most), it's difficult , not simple, and need time to reset 2fa.
Kyc and selfie holding passport verification are needed of course. But how if you are be a migrant worker, and your original passport still in immigration office, or been held by your boss for several months ?
