I think the most important is to invest only amount of money which you can afford to lose. Thanks to that you won't be a slave of the market and you can risk to hold some coins even if their price is currently falling.
Finding appropriate coins is also important, but in this case decision of which crypto are reliable depends on you. As for me, I'm choosing the ones with good contact with community, like Dash or Futurocoin, because their owners are more dedicated to them. Altcoins have great potential because are mostly made by people dedicated to change the world and popularize cryptocurrencies, so I think it's worth to support them, especially at the beginning of their activity. This is the time when many coins has a chance to fully develop their potential. I don't think that crypto are good idea for full time job. But as additional way of earning it should work fine. You can invest part of your savings on some exchange or in something which will generate you some passive incomes (like for example, FuturoBet Affiliate). This will decrease the risk, because you still have your main work, and crypto are just additional source of money.

When we talk about investments - yes, but when we talk about technology - definitely not. There are plenty of cryptocurrency companies that are trying to stay in a close relations with their users, you can say they are trying to be user-friendly, like Dash, or  altcoin that i've found recently - FuturoCoin, which code is an extended version of Dash's code. It looks like the FBI has noticed growing attention about cryptocurrencies and it is starting to react on it. One of its employers warned in an anonymous interview about ICO scams. For me, the FBI's interest in ICO may be a beginning of more considerable US action against it.
