DeFi is the short form of decentralized Finance. It's a system by which cryptocurrencies can be exchanged. On the other hand, CeFi is the short form of Centralized Finance. It's a service by which all orders are controlled by one central exchange.
In decentralized exchanges primary decisions are made by the organization. And in centralized exchanges primary decisions are made by the person who is at the top of the organization or by the top management. In decentralized exchanges most of the planning and strategy are set by the organization. On the other hand, in centralized exchanges most of the planning and strategy are set by the top management. In decentralized exchanges decision can be taken very fast but it takes some time to make a decision in centralized exchanges. For large sized organization decentralized exchanges are suitable and for small sized organization centralized exchanges are suitable. In decentralized exchanges employees feel highly motivated as they are also get opportunity to make decision but in centralized exchanges employees feel demotivated as they don't get opportunity to make any decision.
CeFi and DeFi both deliver a wide range of cryptocurrency. Both of them are popular in their own way.

CEXes are still far ahead of DEXes bit DEXes are really catching up, the major hurdle for DEXes to cross is the speed if they can offer the speed of less than 5sec per transaction I think people will less go alot of things. Alos they need to scale down the trading fee, I believe this would happen with more users coming onboard.

I love decentralized exchanges because it has much more security and yuo have full control on your money nothing to fear about. But centralized and decentralized exchanges have their own advantages and disadvantages.

I think it's hard to say the two of them can work easily between DeFi and CeFi.
Centralized Finance is like the word the best choice for exchanges that require a gateway to the entrance to the real world, like the money coming in from Fiat.
Decentralized Finance is like the parent word for cryptocurrency finance because Bitcoin is still Decentralized Finance worldwide.

Both have their disadvantages and advantage. In CEFI makers and takers make it easy for liquidity to be steady on the market but for defi liquidity is always not guaranteed. But defi is safer because you coin is with you.

All the bad names for crypto, come from bad security, of centralized exchanges. If you want fast centralized transactions, VISA and MASTERCARD are fine. Why bother with crypto? Crypto is decentralized, and DEX are it's natural place.

However, are they really only popular because of hype or they are really promising as new projects? if it has a relation with the dex or CEX exchanges, I think that DeFi will probably be in the decentralized exchanges. In addition, In terms of features, centralized crypto exchanges have the edge over decentralized ones. You can perform margin trading, use portfolio management tools, and use multiple advanced order types to trade better.
Decentralized crypto exchanges have quite limited types of orders and don’t offer margin trading (and similar features) to their customers. However, this feature may be added when more advanced decentralized platforms enter the market.
