Sure it does, most of alts are depending on the movement of bitcoin. The king movement affect the whole market of crypto currency. BTC is mostly paired to all alts out there so there would be a great chance that btc pulled the price of whenever it will go. Increase or decline they will follow the footstep of BTC.

due to the reason that most of the altcoins are not used in the real life today, it is really likely for them to follow bitcoin movements when it happens. Only some coins like xlm, ethereum and xrp sometimes - not all the time - can follow their own path. Other than that until they have real use cases this is their faith.

 am not too sure the altcoin price will follow the price of Bitcoin, as we can see today, BTC has gone up at the price of $5800 and other altcoin prices do not follow the movements of the BTC price.

usually when bitcoin grows heavily all altcoins lose in price in btc. when bitcoin falls heavily altcoins also usually fall strongly. when bitcoin in flat altcoins grows .now btc dominance is 55.5%. when the btc dominates, it is better to refrain from purchasing altcoins.
