Title: Solana’s New Gas Fees Won’t Make the Network 'Expensive,' Says Co-Founder
Post by: Tamsialu$$ on June 17, 2022, 02:17:06 AM
Solana’s new fee structure could lead to “gas wars” for big NFT drops, but it won’t cause fees to rise across the entire network like on Ethereum. Solana is on the verge of introducing a new fee prioritization model, which is designed to help mitigate the impact of in-demand apps and services alongside other new tech upgrades. But unlike with Ethereum, Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko claims, the model won’t punish users with high fees across the entire network.

Solana Labs revealed first details on the new fee implementation last month in a postmortem report, following the network crash blamed on bots (or users’ automated programs) overwhelming an NFT mint. Per the report, the new model will take a “neighborhood fees” approach that does not impact the wider network.more (https://decrypt.co/103106/solana-new-gas-fees)

I understand the switch system described in the article, but I'm not sure the gas fee will be the same and different from ethereum, when you need 2 lighting lamps then additional electricity consumption to turn on 2 lights with one switch will be needed, there is a fee or tariff will go up. if Solana's Price is about the same as ETH then gas costs will be just as high and no more low costs on the network.

When Solana imposes transaction fees, attackers will have to pay to send billions of transaction requests to the network, and they will have to think and need more resources. This will help protect the Solana network better in the future, we need a secure and stable blockchain to use.
