Title: Moderators Rules & Payment
Post by: admin on October 18, 2020, 09:46:02 PM
Due to a variety of reasons some mods might no longer be active, thus they are replaced or removed from role.

The new rules for being a mod and staying a mod:
1- You need to participate in the section you are moderating, you should post a lot of "new topics" and not only replies.
2- You should be active within the last 2-3 weeks, at most.
3- You should have positive karma - meaning, not a spammer !
4- You should have at least a full member rank - with very few exceptions.

Mod Payment:
1- Different plans we come up for mod payment, with our tokens or other tokens ...
2- The Mods can directly sell the banner in the section he/she is moderating. The revenue can be kept entirely by the mod, but we recommend at least 30% of this revenue to be distributed on the most active members of the section. But if the section is inactive, or the mod is not doing his job in the section he will have to pay 70% to the forum.
3- The Mods can use the banners in their section as an affiliate banner, as long as it respects the dimensions and no link shortners.
This only applies if the mods are working hard to develop the section.

The admin reserves the right to refuse ad placement for specific projects.

The above proposed idea did not give great results, thus we will be scrapping it January 1st 2021,
instead i am putting now all banners up for bidding in ALTS , creating more demand on ALTS that would be positive for mods and users alike.

Apply to be a mod, can be done here:

Hello Admin,
I like your idea of selling a banner directly in a moderated section.
I would like to know the technical data of this banner, dimensions, maybe some special requirements...
Thanks in advance.

dimension 700x60
if the section is managed by 1 mod, he keeps everything or gives a bit to top users
if section manged by multiple mods, then he shares with other mods as well
i have the right to veto an ad, usually i would veto other forums or fishy projects

I got it, thanks for the info.
Regarding the veto - in any case, the last word will be yours, I will only offer an ad and you will say whether it suits us or not.

Hi admin, I have a few more questions about our banner.
- What is the average monthly statistics on clicks of a such banner on our forum?
- Is it possible to receive such statistics to provide an advertiser?
- What is the estimated monthly cost of a such banner for an advertiser?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

these are specific to each section, thus each section is different
an approach is to:
- estimate the active users in your section
- estimate the average post view and present the info to the advertiser
- price it's your decision.
Obviously the more active the section is/becomes the higher the banner will cost ...

This is a nice idea admin, I think in the future it could serve different mods & boards very well. For now it'd be nice to get the ball rolling as it were, test the water...

I'd therefore like to propose having a BetFury banner in the Altcoins discussion section, that I moderate with (the wonderful) aiviaa485. I say wonderful, as she has helped keep that section alive since I've been AFK for a bit too long. I'm back now though, and intend to remain active there...

However, instead of selling this banner to BetFury (who already have a sig campaign anyway), I'd like to propose having it simply as a referral link that may or may not gain revenue (if aiviaa485 is in agreement). This would be with a different BF account "AltsDiscuss" or something (and authorized via the bounty manager).

I do not wish to collect any of this potential revenue, but instead return 100% to active users. Ideally with a public poll to vote for the user(s) that deserves (any potential revenue) the most for example. I also don't think it would collect much revenue, but I see little harm in trying, with your support.  Call it "free advertising", but at the same time any revenue would be returned to the community in this example.

Hope that makes sense, let me know what you think? Or any other thoughts others might have?
