Current cardano rank is number #5 and solana is number # 14.If you talk solana will overtake cardano, I think anything can happen at crypto currency world.
But It will need process and take the time.
Not easy to overtake cardano, because cardano has big community too.

I think it will be difficult for Solana to overtake Cardano in terms of market cap and ranking on the Coinmarketcap list. I know that Solana is a coin that has great potential, but I think for now Cardano is still superior in all areas when compared to Solana.

SOLANA is predicted to be a very expensive coin and definitely has a very fast transaction speed, the price is increasing day by day, all this evidence can be checked on Coinamrketcap or Binance with its 1 week chart.
But unfortunately, SOLANA still loses its market cap from CARDANO and I'm sure SOLANA needs more time to overtake the market cap from CARDANO.

The possibility in cryptocurrency is always there even though we can't see what will happen in the future, even for Bitcoin when the price is 1 USD no one has any interest in buying it and now Bitcoin when it is above 30,000 USD a lot of people buy it.

It is very difficult, but not impossible. We only have to remember what happened to Doge to realize that in the world of cryptocurrencies, what seems most difficult or impossible can happen. I think it all depends on how long it takes the Cardano team to launch their smart contracts and how the Solana team uses that time to advance development, that time frame is what can make a difference.

Besides, more projects are launching on SOL to increase the adoption like other ecosystem and ADA already finished the hardfork for smart contract. The current development of SOL is advanced than ADA. let see what is going on with Cardano when releasing the new version of the smart contract platform tentative release date in Dec 2021. It might be more competitive and innovative.

Solana should be approaching $300 to surpass Cardano, it is true, but that is not going to happen, at least for quite some time. In terms of market capitalization, Cardano has a lot of advantage and many more paths in the crypto ecosystem. As long as Solana is a decentralized coin then I'm sure anything can happen and Solana will be able to overtake Cardano because Cardano is also a decentralized coin.

I am not a fan of Solana because this project is developing too fast and the price of SOL is pumped too strongly by FTX. I am very optimistic that in the shortest possible time, the solana token will definitely overtake Ada coin. The rate at which solana project is growing is unprecedented, I am very sure solana will even overtake Binance coin looking at the current markets trends. As at the time of writing this post, Sol is trading at $247 and with huge marketcap of $74b. I predict Solana hitting the number 3 positions at the coinmarketcap ranking in near future.

I am hoping to see solana goes as high as 300 before the year ends and i strongly believe that as the 4 largest token in the crypto market, it will hit above 1000 come 2022. What's happening now is, solana is already in the top 5 list of coinmarketcap, many things have made solana in the top 5 and overtaking cardano, solana's protocol is easy to use and has low costs, this makes many developers and investors buy this coin, I don't think solana is a competitor to cardano, but solana is a competitor to BSC and ethereum, that's for now.

Currently with the present CMC records, Solana is above Cardano in the position of 6 and 7. Everything is all on timing. So far the price of Solana has beaten the price of Cardano with high difference. I see that the team of Solana and it's project plan has so far proved to be of more attraction and interest to the populace, compared to Cardano. When a project has a platform of which other projects can build up on, then, they are willing to serve and create room for new projects to serve the people and the crypto verse better.
