Russia plans to roll out digital ruble across all banks in 2024

Bank of Russia started CBDC testing in 2022 and expects to implement an official banking rollout in the year of presidential elections in 2024.

National CBDCs make it possible to repeatedly improve non-cash payments in the banking payment system. In any case, this is a progressive decision and should be welcomed. But we know absolutely nothing about this digital ruble, even whether it will use blockchain technology or not.
Also, these plans may be affected by the ongoing Russian military invasion of Ukraine and the international sanctions imposed on it. Who knows what will happen to Russia in 2024, when they plan to officially launch their digital ruble. It may turn out that the Russian Federation as such a state will no longer exist, but there will be many independent republics
