Apart from the undisclosed reffereal links, yes those websites work as they just run a Java (or similar) scrip in your browser to mine XMR. Having said that if you really want to mine this is absolutely inefficient, get a miner and connect to a pool instead.

You can't make money mining monero. There are too many viruses mining monero and selling it for less than electricity.

I make decent money mining Monero and I am far ahead of my electricity bill. Just don't use some crappy browser mining or stuff like that. We are talking proper pool, Ubuntu command line miner and 24/7 constant has rate.
