Cryptocurrency discussions / Taproot, DeFi and Bitcoin
« on: December 11, 2022, 08:24:39 PM »
Taproot support across the industry is still crawling one year after the Bitcoin soft fork, indicating a strong potential for innovation and broader adoption of Web3 solutions to be unlocked through the world's largest cryptocurrency, sources told Cointelegraph.

"Since early on, Satoshi predicted that layers being built on top of the Bitcoin blockchain would enable Bitcoin to move beyond being only sound money by adding programmability, which makes Bitcoin the optimal framework to build out Web3 capabilities," noted Alex Miller, CEO of the Web3 developer platform Hiro.
The changes were long-awaited in the industry, as many Bitcoin holders do not use their coins on decentralized finance (DeFi) applications "because it involves the cumbersome task of wrapping it using a bridge so that it can be processed by smart contracts on another blockchain such as Ethereum," commented Dominic Williams, founder and chief scientist at DFINITY, the foundation behind the Internet Computer blockchain, which is one of the companies working to unlock Bitcoin's potential for DeFi.
Do you think this is going to supercharge bitcoin for DeFi?

Cryptocurrency discussions / Tim Draper and Bitcoin
« on: December 11, 2022, 08:02:43 PM »
More than 14 years have passed since this white paper was published and it defined the term "bitcoin" while the decentralized digital currency with the same name began to be used one year later. Right now, the iconic cryptocurrency that got very near to the US$70,000 threshold is below US$17,000. The 52-week low is US$15,480, while the highest value of the same period sits above US$52,000. However, venture capitalist Tim Draper thinks that a nearly 1,400% increase is possible in less than a year.
Do you agree with this?

Cryptocurrency discussions / How true is this?
« on: October 13, 2022, 08:44:46 PM »
Despite the rise of decentralized finance (DeFi), cryptocurrency investors appear to be sticking to centralized exchanges (CEXs) over DeFi tools, according to a new report.

Crypto investors are more comfortable holding their assets on CEXs because decentralized exchanges are still more vulnerable to the threat of hacks. This is according to a joint report by the blockchain data firm Chainalysis and Bitfinex exchange, issued on Oct. 13.

According to the study, the risks of hacks associated with CEXs have dropped significantly over the past few years, while various DeFi platforms have become increasingly hacked.
So that means many prefer cexes

Cryptocurrency discussions / Hacked wallets
« on: August 23, 2022, 10:00:48 PM »
Guys I need help. I used my wallets to stake tokens and provide liquidity on Crystl Finance on the BSC. Just found out the wallet has been drained. The hacker withdrew my tokens and sold them off. Same with my other wallet on Metamask. My question is how s/he got hold of my private keys, because I didn't give it to anyone and I didn't love into any suspicious sites

Cryptocurrency discussions / Metamask-Chrome Faceoff
« on: July 08, 2022, 01:55:18 AM »
I cannot connect my Chrome browser to metamask. I can log into metamask, do stuff like add tokens. But when I'm on Chrome and I click a link that is supposed to call up the metamask,(for example, like clicking the Connect button on Pancakeswap) nothing happens. The screen just stares at me. I have cleared metamask and Chrome cache. Still nothing. I'm at my wit's end. The Metamask works perfect with other browsers like Firefox and Edge, but not with Chrome, no way
Anyone with a solution? Would appreciate it

Cryptocurrency discussions / Fund loss
« on: June 29, 2022, 06:51:09 AM »
I had this experience sometime ago, on 31st May this year, I noticed close to $500 in Fantom USD sent to an unknown wallet, which is have never used. And this transaction happened after I bridged the USD from BSC to Fantom.  I know I didn't initiate it. I corresponded with Multichain(which I usd for the bridge) but of course they denied it. And I didn't input my private keys or mnemonics on any sites with that wallet
Who knows what must have happened? And how can I prevent it. I have since abandoned the wallet

Cryptocurrency discussions / High rate of hacks
« on: June 25, 2022, 06:26:58 AM »
I noticed more and more defi protocols are getting exploited these days. The latest is the Horizen bridge hack which spirited away about $100 million worth of assets. There was another one last week for $10 million. What the increase and how to stop it?

USDT Forum / Tether under attack
« on: June 19, 2022, 12:30:53 AM »
News reaching us from Watcher Guru, a reliable crypto source of information, have stated that Tether(USDT), the biggest stable coin pegged to the USD is under a Ransom attack, obviously by some group of malicious individuals. They wanted payment or they would bring down the stable. Is this the end of the project, or a hiccup? Already USDT is trading at $0.987 right now
Remember it had a minor unpeg last week

Cryptocurrency discussions / Evo Bridge is falling down, my dear lady
« on: June 10, 2022, 11:09:41 PM »
This particular nursery rhyme has been ringing in my head for days now, precisely 3 days. EvoBridge which is a common multichain swap has been illiquid for quite some time. Swaps don't work, especially from Emerald Oasis paratime to other blockchains like BSC, Ethereum wouldn't get stuck for days, of which the team eventually added a cancel button on the UI. My 8k USDT is stuck on Oasis chain which I framed in ValleySwap(who have been fingered in the accusations)
The puzzling aspect is there is silence from the team. Both Valleyswap and EvoBridge has muted their groups for days, and of course, speculations of a slow or soft rug swirling. All backed with evidence of movement of funds out of EvoBridge wallets
What do you guys think? Soft rug or hiccup

Launching today are Chainalysis' oracles which can be used to trace criminal wallets on many blockchains. Oracles are smart contracts identifying sanctioned wallets on Ethereum and EVM-compatible networks like Polygon and Avalanche
What do you guys think? Good or bad for crypto?

Hello guys. I know we are all knowledgeable about the ongoing brutal war in Europe between Russia and Ukraine. Without venturing into the politics, what do you think the long term effect would be on crypto

Cryptocurrency discussions / Web 3 vs Metaverse: Your take
« on: January 04, 2022, 10:56:23 PM »
I see a lot of ruckus and hullabaloo kicked up by some top crypto dogs like Jack Dorsey(formerly Twitter CEO) and even Elon Musk about the Web3 and the Metaverse, with Mr. Musk even chipping in that Neuralink is better than them all. What do you guys think? Bored rich men shenanigans or real talk?

Cryptocurrency discussions / BSC Attacks
« on: May 28, 2021, 05:23:27 PM »
I know blockchains are vulnerable and all. But I noticed that the Binnace Smart Chain has been under severe attacks recently. First it was pancakeswap, venus, bunnyswap, now it is burgerswap and juld. What's going on? Is it because of low number of validators leading faster transactions or what? Concerned cryptohead

Cryptocurrency discussions / Big dip here we come
« on: April 18, 2021, 12:16:39 PM »
The crypto market experienced a huge dip, with the charts bearing gifts of red candles for many of us, and about 10 billion wiped out of the market. Binance obviously had the lions share of the clean up with 90%.
I think the cause of the dip is an unconfirmed tweet stating SEC is investigating many projects. https://twitter.com/Fxhedgers/status/1383611847144730626?s=19
Was I right and whats your take?
