Reply to old topics

I see some members replying to topics from 2021/2022 or even more than 120 days ago. Is this allowed, or is there a certain period after which we consider the topic to be old and locked?

If you look at this forum, I think some section aren't necessary but I'm not the admin to say much on the forum plan but there has been inactivity in most of the boards, no new posts and no threads and and even the fews active ones don't get new threads from people, so the signature participants are force to post and reply the inactive and even some threads that are dead, I mean why reply 2018 question in 2024.

The only people that can limit this behavior is the moderator by moving some old topics and thread to archive and the campaign managers for warning against posts in non active threads, this will help stop this mess and improve quality presentation of the forum.

You can participate here if you think this section deserves to be archived or deleted.

I understand the need to make more respond to topics, but some of them are very old and not common, and there are many new topics, or you can create a new topic, it is not that difficult.

If the new post is worth bumping an old topic it can have sense (like very actual news adding something important to the thread). If the post is left just to talk something from the past you can give the necrobumper -karma and report to a mod so he will decide what to do next. But many annoying things can be regulated with -karma. Answering the first post on the 3d page — -karma, not following the thread and answering on the topic title — -karma, necrobumping without a serious reason — -karma.

This sounds convincing, I didn't think we could all give negative karma.
I will remember this in the future and hope to only use it in very bad cases.

That's how it should be. AltcoinsTalks is a friendly forum, so we prefer to give +karma for good posts to encourage others to make more good posts. But if someone disrespects others so to make meaningless and really bad posts, we should discourage them to do so with -karma, so everyone can communicate on the forum with a pleasure.

As long as the post does not preach bad news, it can also be said to be able to reply to the post now by providing relevant information.
Because there are a number of old subforums but only there is an update 1 day back but regarding it is still relevant and I often see it, I will give an example just only one :

*I made a post on March 8, 2021 , the title of the topic is "INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY".
*Now is January 2024, soon in March, right?
*My post will definitely reply about INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY in 2024, and the topic in it can vary from various replys regarding the INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY.

This is just a small example from me because it might definitely be in other subforums, there are also many old topics that can be replied now.
The conclusion is in the word "Relevant", as long as the reply is related to the topic then it can be legitimate.
