Well ripple had a great partnership with banks, i could say they are hard to get beat by bitcoin and eth... and besides, we still early in this technology so i think bank still had usecase and if decentralized is too much mainstream.... That is where bank will start to dying slowly and bank also had to move to digital cash or digital money.

I heard they are backward compatible with ethereum and their goal is to reach mass adoption. Can they achieve those goals? can someone prove that their project is not fluke or fake?

No, bitcoin mining is not profitable, u should try out other projects that didn"t require hardware equipments, like ethereum they want to go to proof of stake technology.
