But with that mindset, Canelo is no longer looking for his legacy. He will have to gain a lot from beating the young Benavidez, just like when he beat Triple-G before, there's a lot in line, legacy, settling for who is the best in their generation. But choosing a young Munguia, of course there is money here and I think that's what Canelo is looking for as he might be thinking of retiring soon. He want's as much as he can squeeze to whoever his promotions will be. So another easy fight for Canelo and then $100 million in his pocket. And then in September Berlanga is next, same thing, easy fight and easy money.

At this stage of his career, Canelo has limited options now as he is not young anymore. They are playing with calculated risk as they say and cementing his legacy might not be in their minds anymore unless they change their mind and fight Benavidez or the winner of Arthur vs Bivol.

From what I observed, it's possible that he might be thinking of his possible exit from boxing and he want his health to be intact and then at the same time, still making good money. He will be making it from a Munguia or Berlanga match for this year. And then maybe in 2025, he might be thinking of his options already to quit. I just hope that before he hang his gloves he will at least fight Bivol or Benavidez for his last fight. Might be good on how he ends his career.

Absolutely, it will bring some spark to his legacy if he fight either Benavidez or Bivol or Beterbiev as that what really the boxing community wants. If the rich people of Saudi Arabia will promote this fight then that would be a fortune for both of the fighters, Canelo and his opponent.

Or maybe Canelo is like acting "hard to get" so that his stock will continue to go higher and the Saudis are going to offer him huge money for a fight with either Benavidez or Bivol for a rematch. That's the thing though with being the boxing face and cash cow, he can dictate his terms and has total control of his career. Specially after he left GBP, his career decision and money went off the road with his DAZN contract and with Eddie Hearn or PBC even if just 1 fight.

Canelo said in an interview that it would take "150-200 million USD" for him to fight Benavidez, that's a lot of money and i think no promoters will give out that kind of amount for him even the billionaires of Saudi Arabia won't take that bait. This only shows that he is not keen on fighting Benavidez as of this time.

Hehehe, but who knows? maybe the billionaires in Saudi is willing to pay Canelo with that big money to fight Benavidez. David though will really need to prove himself. I mean if you look at who's who the Saudi's wanted to see and fight in their country, they are all big names.

So maybe is Benavidez won at 175 lbs and then faces the winner of Bivol vs Beterbiev. Then maybe the Saudi might be swayed to believed that Benavidez also deserves a good paycheck vs Canelo in the future.

Yeah, that would be a good route for David Benavidez to fight Canelo in the future. David must proved himself that he deserve to face Canelo by defeating the winner of Bivol vs Beterbiev match-up. On the other hand, if that dream fight happen and indeed David will win then this might be the reason also that Canelo will chicken-out on fighting Benavidez hehe.

This fight is going to happen, I see this fight maybe in 2025. It's just Canelo wanting Benavidez to win more and so it's worth for him to give him the ticket to fight him.

And it could be that David Benavidez doesn't have the fans based that Munguia has. Munguia is young and has the looks to back up his boxing skills. As compare to Benavidez who might not have the fan base yet although he is a champion and the future of boxing. So everything for Canelo is business and the most money that he can take home.

But it doesn't make sense for Canelo to ask for Benavidez to prove himself. David is former champion as well. And then Canelo fighting a 154 lbs and has to move to 168 lbs? And now fighting a Mexican which totally contradicts what he said before. So for me, Canelo as I have said is full of contradiction and just wanted to fight not for legacy but for the money. And he seems to be excluded by the broker in Saudi Arabia. While the likes of Bivol and Beterbiev and now Benavidez are being appreciated and they are getting career paychecks fighting in the Middle East.

Yes, for boxing fans, it doesn't make sense as Canelo is no longer chasing greatness as he think that he has achieved it already. And so with that, he is looking for less risk higher rewards.

Canelo is not getting any younger as well, he has wear and tear already and that's why he wanted to avoid Benavidez at all cost without damaging his health and at the same time making good money. And I guess he will stand with that $150m-$200m money he want to fight Benavidez but not sure if here will be a promoter that is willing to give him that big money.

Yep, different era but still they wanted to fight the best and that's why the 80's-90's are one of the best eras in boxing. We can partly blame Floyd as in the early 2000's when he decided to be his own manager and talks about making huge money and not pleasing the fans regardless of who he will be fighting.

And that's trickle to this generation, including Canelo who knows looks for money purse instead of cementing his legacy by fighting Benadivez or even having a rematch with Bivol.

They are cut on a different breed, that's where we got the Mexican warrior, and I think the last boxers that we have seen is MAB, Morales and JMM. After that, all Mexicans like becoming not soft but cherry picking fights.

There is a argument though that why Benavidez not fighting Morell. I think the answer could be that Morell is not known as compare to Benavidez who has a following in the US already and Mexican heritage and so Canelo should fight him instead of Jaime Munguia.

I read that why Canelo give Munguia the chance and not Benavidez is that Jaime is respectful to Canelo as compare to the Benavidez who really attack hm personally. They now even joke that the next time they see or negotiate with Canelo, they will bring him flowers. So that is another attack so now sure if Canelo will give what they deserve.

Munguia being Mexican said that one of his idol is Canelo. But don't get him wrong though, he will do his best when him and Canelo face in the ring this Cinco De Mayo weekend.
