Would anybody be interested in an altcoin node challenge?

In case anybody doesn't know, I run a bitcoin node challenge over on Bitcointalk. The idea is so that anybody who happens to need a few merits can start a Bitcoin Core node to help the wider network, leave it running for a while, and get rewarded with merits in return.

It costs a large amount of merit to run this sort of challenge and over the past few months I have distributed hundreds of merits.

So maybe if anybody has a favorite altcoin they would like to help by running a node or a validator then that could be a great idea.

One impediment is that I have almost zero Karma here (LOL) so it would mean someone else would have to run it.

First of all, i wonder if it's okay to use karma in this way. After all, it's different from admin's guide[1]. Do you have any specific altcoin in mind? After all, some blockchain have since in TB or require faster CPU (e.g. to verify complex smart contract).

It's a great idea to introduce and bring its light here as well. It earned much attention and success in BTT even I have been considering participating on the BTT challenge whenever I find a bit of time. The only concern now is choose who will select a specific altcoin that everyone agrees upon, or if each user will be free to choose different altcoins.

One aspect you may not have noticed is that Karmas differ from sMerits in that you don't need to earn sKarmas to qualify for sending them. You can send 1 Karma every certain period ( for me it’s 10 hours every time) not sure if it’s the same for everyone, its only only requirement is to hold at least a Senior Membership or above.

GxSTxV has already shed light on it.  There's no limit to the karma one can share. The criteria is been senior member and above. But I guess there are some regulations in spending it despite its nigh infinite number.
If a node is going to be picked I think something cheap to set up and with good potential would suffice. Not to mention one the majority would like to agree on.
Ethereum and solana would be good but a little expensive. Divi is cheaper but not really widely known.

I have been to your that Bitcointalk thread and I would say that you're doing a great thing by actively meriting the ones who are taking part in that thread by running their own Bitcoin nodes.

I think a similar approach could be done on this forum, but this forum doesn't have a system similar to merits and thus one may think about something else.

The Karma system is a lot different from the merit system of Bitcointalk, and if admin agrees then such users might get a few Karma by taking part in a similar thread.

However, instead of you giving them Karma, it should be either admin or the other members that support that thread and give Karma to the participants for their contribution.

There are limitations how many karma you can send to users, except if you pay for this limitations to get removed.
I would be surprised if someone would run a bitcoin node for karma.

As far as I know, most users (who already have access to send karma) can only send 1 karma per 10 hours.

However, staff such as admin or president can send more than 1 karma at a time.
And if the OP wants to make a challenge by giving a karma reward (more than 1), the OP needs to ask the staff for help.

It would be great and also I think much of peoples will also interested to run node  in on altcoin but the problem is the karma system is different from the merit system in Bitcoin talk. Yes it can be possible if the admin and the staffs take any steps on it because they have the ability to give more than one karma in without need of time gaps.

But I have one more idea that you can create a community with 10 or more than 10 people who will support the node runners like how you support the users on bitcointalk. Let's say if there are 15 people in the community, then by creating Telegram group then those who successfully run the node will be given the post link and if 15 people give one karma, the user will get 15 karma easily.

Introducing more karma for higher ranked members that are active would be great and it would stimulate more karma circulation.
Sometimes I want to send someone 3 or 5 karma, not just 1.

You don't have to own karma to give Karma like it is on bitcointalk where we have to own smerits in other to be able to send merits to other users, but the thing here is that, you can't send more than 1 karma to a user per time, and to send another 1 karma to the same user, you will  have to wait for 10 hours.

Anyways, aside the karma sending limitations which is supposed to act as the reward for what  you are proposing, I think this actually is a great idea, but I believe alot of us will be interested, but what I think will hinder most of us from participating is not meeting the minimum requirement software and or hardware requirements to run most Altcoin nodes/become validators.

I personally have tried one time to run an Altcoin node for one Altcoin project like that, but gave up after seeing the their hardware and software requirements, and finding out how much it will cost me to acquire such hardwares the meets the required specifications, I couldnt afford it, so I just gave up.

But all the same, I will be here to see how this goes.

You're just used to it giving merits on another forum and see this in that perspective. But if to look at it like on likes in social networks, you just give +karma when you think that a post is useful/charming/informative/very positive for you. You don't rank it by levels, you just like it.

So you give not the number of karma, you give +karma or -karma for a post.

Personally  I see no problem in distributing karma in technical challenges... I think technical discussions is the best use of karma, and probably among the best discussions available in any cryptocurrency forum

Better the pricee prediction discussions, inflation discussions and whatever that we see a lot every dau

 the fact that campaign managers are among the users with most karma is interesting.

They look to be more awarded by the community here than in bitcointalk.
