For a small company, yes. A large payments company like PayPal can afford to cut off many customers and take a hit in its revenue because it would be quite a small percentage of their net profit.

The smaller payment processors and the ones with a negative profit would be the ones most tempted into getting more customers by having more lax anti money laundering policies.

What you say is true, it is small businesses that can be tempted to "forget" certain important points. In any case, large companies (PayPal for example) may have more flexibility as you say, but always in a measured and planned way, otherwise they could also have problems. One of the problems (although depending on who it is an advantage) is that there are many payment processors based in hundreds of countries operating in hundreds of other countries, but the laws from country to country can be very different.

Basic questions about this forum / Re: How to increase activity ??
« on: May 19, 2024, 08:48:25 PM »
You need to post to increase activity because the more you post the more posts you post will increase your activity. However, there is a certain age limit for increasing the activity of the account, that is, if you just create an account and only if you want to increase the activity as you want by creating the account, it will not happen. If the account is not aged, the activity will be locked to a certain place no matter how many times you post, and the activity will be unlocked when the account is aged again. However, if the account is of sufficient age, activity will be added to your profile as per the posts you post.

I think you have a big mental mess about how forum accounts work. The information about this is public and has been said on some occasions, but there is no exact data, let me explain...

The factors necessary to rise in rank are:

Post regularly, as a minimum number of posts is required to reach the next rank.

More information: Everything You Need To Know About Forum Ranks.

Total Time Spent Online. There must be an (indeterminate) balance between the number of posts and this factor. As an example, you can know how long you have been connected to the forum from your profile by clicking on Show Stats.

Another factor that has not yet been applied is karma. The administrator is working to ensure that users have a minimum (unknown at the moment) amount of karma to be able to reach the next rank. That way, users with negative (or neutral) karma will not be able to reach the next rank. This new feature has not yet been implemented on the forum.

More information: Karma 0 = your rank will go up.

As Mr. President said, ever since he joined in this forum, the chat and karma's already there. He's been here since 2020, so basically it's not recently introduced. It's been there for many years, maybe you just missed to see it. And regarding karma, it's the same. It's already been there ever since.

Karma has been around since the beginning of the forum, but I don't remember saying (and if I said that in some post I was wrong) that the chat was also on the forum at that time, and it actually isn't, the chat has been running since earlier this year, when teleported BTT (and maybe other forums, but I'm not sure) users started signing up. Looking at the dates of some threads, we can see that karma was established on the forum just two weeks after it was launched, although I suppose that during those two weeks the administrator had to adjust and configure many things.

XRP - Ripple Forum / Re: What is your ripple status for 2024.
« on: May 19, 2024, 04:13:54 PM »
Undoubtedly it can be said that XRP is a very good currency. But XRP, despite being a very good and top currency, did not advance much in 2024. I don't know why this coin couldn't move forward despite its huge popularity with high volume. But what I can guess is that XRP coin didn't go far due to negligence and lack of security by the developers of XRP coin. If the developers could have given their coin better security and more updates then maybe this coin could have gone ahead.

Well, we must keep in mind that the year 2024 has practically barely begun, it is not even five months old yet, so it hasn't given much time to develop new things or improve existing ones. After all, Ripple has been going crazy against the SEC for a few years now, and that consumes a lot of time, money and nerves. To make matters worse for Ripple, the "recent" hack of some executives' wallets (can't remember the name) is slowing things down, due to the possibility of unknown security flaws. The last few years have been difficult for Ripple, so I think we can't expect much at this point. I think XRP has weathered all the knocks pretty well so far, and that's a point in its favor.

Bitcoin News & Updates / Re: Roger arrested
« on: May 19, 2024, 12:44:06 PM »
This is the second time I catch you smearing pro-BTC prominent figures Freemind.
Let's see how long does it take for you to stop following Google, Facebook & Co. and starting educating yourself.

Authorities going after pro-BTC figures,
mainstream media defaming them,
moderators of a crypto forum siding with authorities and mainstream media.
Disgusting

Ver saw BTC being reduced to a tool to make money,
he upheld the original idea of BTC as a permissionless p2p payment system,
that means replacing banks and fiat currencies.
Are you surprised that the Powers - the same Powers pushing Operation Check Point 2 - are coming after him?

And now the same crypto people that have no problem seeing BTC reduced to a tool to make money are those who enjoy seeing him in jail.
Disgusting

Btw, Ver has only been accused of tax evasion, there hasn't been any trial yet.
But these people talk about him as if he being a tax criminal would be an established fact.
No need for trials. The accusation of authorities and media is all these crypto ass***es need.
The crypto community

I'm going to tell you a secret, since I see that you follow my posts (which I appreciate) because I see that you have not understood several things. I've only used Google a few times in the 30 years I've been connected to the Internet, I don't have a Facebook account because my privacy is very important to me. For what you have said about education, you will excuse me, but I was already educated for many years, it is possible, even before you were born.

I don't care if Ver goes to jail or not, if he has done something illegal he will have consequences, if Ver has not done anything illegal he has nothing to worry about.

Regarding your accusation that I smear prominent people, those people will be prominent to you, to me they are nothing more than parasites who take advantage of something they did not create.

Surprise me, enlighten me and tell me what those notable people like Musk and Ver have done for cryptocurrencies. But tell me something other than making stupid forks or manipulating the market, I already knew those things for a long time.

TRON (TRX) Forum + Ecosystem / Re: Are you investing in TRC20
« on: May 19, 2024, 08:55:15 AM »
Sometimes some people don't match our thinking, they are sometimes too panicked to decide to go out and sell at a loss the assets they own, but for those who have a lot of money and have managed their financial conditions well, they are not afraid when prices collapse and instead they will probably try to buy more.

The fear of losing everything makes many people not think coldly about the situation they must face, and that fear is what, on many occasions, many whales generate and take advantage of. Depending on experience with cryptocurrencies, users learn that leaving their coins/tokens in their wallet is the best thing to do when we are in a downtrend, but that is something that is learned over time. That's why I always say that the best thing before starting in the market is to learn how it works, and be able to know what problems there may be that affect us in the future, but we will still encounter other situations that we cannot foresee in advance.

Forum related / Re: Why is this common here.
« on: May 17, 2024, 08:54:03 PM »
On the BTT forum we had members who actually worked for certain news sites and were paid for every link they posted, which of course was not allowed and in the end some of them were banned for spam. I'm not saying that's the case here, but I see only two possible options why someone uses one source in all posts - he's paid to promote that news source, or it's an account that controls that source.

I have the opinion that apart from the interaction with other users, which is obviously not there, a rule of one topic every 24 hours per user should be introduced in any press board.

I know that in BTT it is (or was) a common practice for several users, but as I said, I have never seen any post from that user where he explicitly says that he works for that website (or for any other website). Setting a daily limit could be an idea, but as I say, that user has been doing the same thing for a long time, so I think that in this case it is best to wait for the administrator to rule on this issue.

I suppose the 24 hour limitation could be useful, a suggestion in the corresponding subforum would be interesting to see if more users support the idea.

What?!  :o
Do you even understand what censorship even means?
You literally are not allowed to talk about specific subject at all.

Quote
Censorship is the suppression of speech, public communication, or other information.

Looking up the definition of a word in a dictionary will only tell you what it means, but not how many ways it can be applied, that is the small difference that you have not understood. But I think we are getting a little further away from the discussion in this thread.

What makes this case so special to them though is because this is a financial company offering payment services, it can be easily abused for money laundering by all sorts of sanctioned entities and then the SEC gets invoked, OFAC gets involved, and so on. There are a lot more "sniper feds" with the targets on fintech than most other industries.

The problem itself is not that the system can be abused for money laundering, for that there are several mechanisms and filters that once applied would make it very difficult to commit these acts. The problem is that the system sometimes "invites" these acts. With very lax AML policies, with holes in the system depending on which countries the money comes from, with low commissions to attract more clients without applying the filters that I mentioned before... If AML policies were strictly enforced, the annual profit would be much, much lower than the current percentage, and logically, companies that process payments are not interested in that.

Dogecoin Forum / Re: DOGE for Tesla
« on: May 16, 2024, 08:34:48 PM »
It is true that currently Elon Musk continues to keep the price of Dogecoin at a low price and is waiting for the right time to increase the price of Dogecoin. In general, Dogecoin has the opportunity to increase its price to $1. But as you mentioned Elon Musk should consider everything before bringing the Dogecoin price to $1.

One thing is what Elon Musk wants and another (may be different) is what he gets. Remember that Musk is not the only Doge whale, and also remember that there are also many people waiting for Doge to reach a barrier (could be $1) to sell millions of coins, which would cause the price to drop rapidly. That's why I don't think Musk is going to "take" Doge to $1, most likely he'll do nothing and wait to see how the market continues. Musk must be very careful with his words on his social network, every day there are more critical voices denouncing his manipulations.
