I do not know what others want, but I would not mind ethereum taking the first place in the CoinMarketCap table, because in this case bitcoin will lose its price dominance over other types of crypto currency. In turn, ethereum is unlikely to be able to exercise such a dominance, because the level of its capitalization will not be so different from the capitalization of other coins, for example, ripple, ranked third in terms of capitalization. Bitcoin, with its 122 billion dollars of capitalization, is too big for it compared to ethereum, which is second only to 24 billion dollars of capitalization. This allows him to strictly control the price of each crypto currency. If there is no such dominance, each crypto currency will have its own price, which will not depend on the price of the leader of the crypto currency.

Because ETH provide the smart platform to a lot of coin/token and if talk about the coin which can overcome BTC is exactly ETH. they are so active in development, a high community, a cool developer and still keep on the track. and i think because a lot of people invest in ETH too so ofc a lot of people want ETH to overcome BTC.

maybe it's just a few people, or maybe they are disappointed because the big fee from bitcoin causes them to want the ethreum to replace bitcoin

I myself don't know what people want but I think the reason many people want ethereum to exceed bitcoin is because of the many tokens that are integrated with ethereum and besides that ethereum is also very popular. so many tokens use it.

Maybe because the quality of the market and the level of market stability Ethereum is better than Bitcoin even though the price is still far less than Bitcoin. Because Ethereum is a good and potential coin, and has a great opportunity to move forward and develop in the future. So many people are already bored with Bitcoin and move to buy Ethereum as their Priority coin. Maybe that's all the reason they want ETH to exceed BTC.

So right now, maybe we can hope that ethereum can get a higher price first and ethereum rise again shortly.

The fact : Bitcoin is more popular than Etherium. Maybe Etherium is more popular for bounty hunter, but for trader and who new in crypto world, bitcoin stil a King. you can check on CoinMarketCap. Bitcoin has the biggest trading volume and highest market capitalization. Its prof that btcoin more popular and has move user.
