What’s the progress of Real World Assests(RWAs) tokenization?
« on: November 28, 2024, 11:48:41 AM »
Early this year, my go-to YouTuber for crypto and finance news made a video about upcoming trends that would “take the market by storm”. He mentioned a few narratives like AI, gaming and memes that are frankly old news(and getting tired now) but one stuck with me, tokenizing real-world assets(RWAs).

The idea’s been around for a while now but apart from Etheruem and Solana and maybe Polymesh, I’m yet to see solutions that adhere to traditional finance regulations and with real utilities. The closest I’ve seen is Mantra. They’re fairly new but have already built dApps finance services like lending and borrowing. I hope they bring the web3 we were promised.

Also, do you think it’s still early  to see positive performance from them in this current cycle?

Nothing comes up in the news about RWA anymore. This news been buried for since while memecoins are raising up. It could because RWA needs clearer regulations and Gensler is still sitting his ass.

I would expect it to happen in the next season after Trump. It's said he is about to change the market but they could just be using Eth as it's mostly used. Polymesh is unheard.

Even though it's early, I think it's starting off on a good foot. MANTRA's token $OM at $3.58 isn't bad. And if truly they can actualize the features of the project, then be rest assured that this would perform exceptionally well.

It's about time traditional finance get replaced.

What's the difference between them and dozens of other dex/dapps on the market then? Lending and borrowing are not new, and the tokenization of real-world assets is not revolutionary either. If anything the lack of projects and interest from the market shows that the demand is not there yet, if any. Based on my experience, gold-based tokens have been around for years now, and as far as I can see their trading volume has been stagnant.

There remains to be a good interest with RWA in the market and I think there is a news of Binance giving some focus on RWA and its potential to disrupt the market. Now, there can be a bigger excitement on RWA if people can really make big money in here just like the memecoins movement we witnessed in 2024 and can be extending to 2025. I am still watching some developments on RWA and I am really hoping that will come big in 2025 though we should also note that anything can happen in this ever-changing industry.

Projects that claim to be an alternative to memecoins, Ethereum, Bitcoin, etc. are usually short-term hype projects that fail in the long run. Therefore, given the high value of real-world assets (RWAs) investments and the lack of regulation, they are more likely to be scams than alternatives to memecoins.

why would there be considered any alternative to memecoins which most are scams anyway?

projects that claim to be alternatives to big and popular coins are most likely to be the ones only attempting to attract investors and are likely only fishing for profit i do not think rwa would be alternative to memecoins because memecoins do not represent anything in the physical world i believe rwa can be profitable the problem is that there is not a lot of assets in the physical world that anyone wants to buy digitally

I also don't agree that RWA is the alternative to memecoins and in fact the very idea is that both are opposites since RWA means real world assets and that is talking on value which memecoins generally do not have. Now, of course, there will always be scams and frauds that will come in every time something is getting some focus on the market but eventually these scamming players will be weeded out. I am not saying that RWA will be so big and be the revolution that we are looking for but I am recognizing its big potential.

Due to the lack of regulatory regulation and the fact that such contracts are archived and stored in a distributed manner, it is clear that real-world assets (RWAs) will be completely separate from the idea of digitizing human assets, just like AI tokens. The only use case is to buy digital assets within games or metaverse, but this can be done with centralized solutions.
