I took a look at the summary of my profile and came across things like Positive Feedback (black letters), Positive Feedback (Green Letters), Neutral Feedback, and Negative Feedback and I want to know what they stand for.

Not all countries legalized gambling. I researched to find out why some of those countries except religion prohibit gambling and then I found out that some countries once allowed gambling but later made it illegal due to the increase of gambling-related crimes and addiction, the government had to make legislation against gambling to protect citizens from involving in gambling-related crimes like the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). Also, in South Africa gambling was considered illegal but was later considered legal.

I think that countries where gambling is illegal see countries where gambling is legal in a negative light and this can affect the reputation of the country. Gambling is legalized in my country and there is no sensitization from the government against problem gambling. If gambling is legalized in your country, do you think it is affecting the reputation of your country in the global arena? Is your government doing anything to prevent problem gambling?

Gambling discussion / How Do You View Young Female Sports Gamblers?
« on: March 13, 2024, 03:38:10 PM »
Yesterday during the Champions League game between Arsenal and FC Porto, I saw a girl between the ages of 19 and 23 checking her betting ticket even thought she has the legal right to gamble since she is above 18years, it still appeared so awkward to me. I had so many concerns going on in my mind. I was worried that such a young girl would be gambling and also boldly checking her ticket in a viewing centre. I wondered how she gets money to gamble. I wonder what will become of her if she gets addicted to gambling. I also wondered if her parents are aware that she is into sports betting regardless that she is of legal age. I want to hear your views on how you perceive young female sports gamblers.

This happened to a close friend. He won last week but he misplaced his winning ticket. In the betting shop, it was boldly written “NO TICKET NO PAYMENT”. When he approached the betting shop owner, the betting shop owner confirmed the winning but told him to wait for 7days to see if someone else would come to claim the winning. After the 7 days elapsed, nobody came to claim the winning. My friend was hoping that the betting shop owner would give him the winning but he refused because it is part of the requirements that you must present your winning ticket to the cashier before you can get your winning. My friend even had to plead that the winning should be shared between him and the betting shop owner but the owner refused. If you were in the position of my friend, what would you have done? Have you experienced such an incident?

Gambling discussion / Losing in Gambling for not Listening
« on: March 11, 2024, 12:56:53 AM »
Winning in gambling can come from different dimensions. Sometimes a message that would guarantee winning can be passed to us through a friend and so adhering to the message would bring winning and vice versa. I lost my bet because I didn’t listen to a friend. On Saturday after making my predictions, I showed my game to a friend to review the games. My friend checked the game and then told me to remove the Atletico Madrid game because they have a Champions League game so Diego Simeone is likely to rest some of his first-team players. Instead of removing the Atletico Madrid match as instructed by my friend, I went on to double-chance Atletico and they lost to Cadiz. It is so annoying because only that game spoiled my ticket. I am not happy with myself for not listening. Have you had a similar experience?

Gambling discussion / Understand the Betting Option before Gambling
« on: March 03, 2024, 10:07:51 AM »
This topic arose from a discussion I had with a friend. My friend is into Ice Hockey betting but has been throwing his tickets away without knowing that he won some of those tickets. He always plays “Winner (including overtime and penalties) which means regular winning, overtime and even penalties counts to decide the winner” and this option is different from “1x2 which means only regular time result counts to decide the winner” but he has always conflicted these different options and this has caused him some of his winnings.

The worst of this is the fact that he gambles offline and that makes it so difficult to know when he wins. Even after I told him this he argued and so I had to open my Sportybet history to show him. I showed him games that ended in a draw in the regular time but won in overtime and it was marked green for me. It was then he believed.

So, it is important to understand the betting options before you gamble to avoid throwing away winning tickets. Have you had such an experience?

I had a flashback of when my friend was stabbed in a viewing centre by a rival fan and then I wondered if people still fight in viewing centres. I couldn’t get any recent cases of violence in viewing centres and in my thinking, one of the reasons is the rise of gambling activities. The last time I witnessed fighting in a sports viewing centre was April 24th 2012 in a Champions League match between Barcelona and Chelsea. That game ended in a 2-2 draw.

Since the rise of gambling activities, it has become difficult for people to fight in sports viewing centres. The fight is not between rival fans but a cold war between gamblers and the Bookies. Every gambler wants to win and their major concern is the outcome of the game so it is between them and their tickets. Yesterday, a Chelsea fan double-chanced Brentford City and he won. Fans who are gamblers are more concerned with making money and not ready to fight for the team they support and this drop in patriotism has prevented rival fans from fighting during matches.

Is this the same in your country? Can this be one of the silent goods of gambling activity?

I have observed that gambling is creating problems in the streets and people no longer have value for human life. I will tell a story to justify my claim. This is a true life story and it happened in my area. A man was given six draws in football to stake on by his friend. The man went home to collect 1,000 Naira but on reaching home his wife had already used the money. The man didn`t complain initially but in the evening at about 10 pm his friend called him that he won the game and the winning amounted to a million plus in naira and immediately he dropped the call, he started beating his wife and abused her saying that he lost 1m naira because of her. This incident happened on Wednesday but I needed to take a picture of the woman to show how terrible it was.

I think this man should be jailed and use as a scape goat to deter others from exhibiting such inhuman behaviour.

What do you think of the man`s action? What is the best way to punish the man?

Gambling discussion / Is Gambling for Fun a Reality or an Expression?
« on: February 07, 2024, 08:18:21 AM »
Personal experience shows that people have different reasons why they gamble. Some to make extra cash and others for charity, entertainment and even for fun. I have taken time to look at the nature of gambling and also read stories of people who initially gamble for fun but later got ruined by gambling. This propelled that inquisitive to know if it is possible to gamble for fun or if we make that expression to fake our mind into believing that we are not gambling for the wrong reason.

I came across a story of a gambler online who noted that he was gambling for fun. On weekends he hosts a Poker game at his home in which guests pony up hundreds of dollars to play with the winner taking home a few thousand dollars. In addition, he bets on whatever sporting events are in season, plays the lotto/numbers regularly and takes a yearly vacation to a gambling town. When asked why he gambles so much, he replies "it is for fun, exciting and I hope to win big". Due to his gambling, he became chronically short on money and his children often go without new clothes, shoes and other basic needs.

Sometimes gambling can go from a fun, harmless diversion to an unhealthy obsession with serious consequences like impulse-control disorder. Impulse-control disorder manifests in a way that you can`t control the impulse to gamble even when you know that the odds are against you or you can`t afford to lose.

Do you think you can gamble for fun without consequences?

Gambling discussion / Is Gambling a Vice?
« on: February 07, 2024, 07:41:43 AM »
Today, there are battles in different countries about whether gambling should be allowed or criminalized. I think gambling is a vice and should be criminalized because the disadvantages outweigh any potential benefits. Gambling addicts are known to commit crimes to pay debts or have mood disorder which most time causes violence and strain in relationships. Gambling increases poverty as the poor are the most likely to gamble away what little money they have. The lure of big money has pushed many gamblers to steal. Some have even committed suicide causing indelible pains in the minds of others.

I will share some hilarious photos which depict that gambling is taking a toll on society.

Gambling discussion / Gambling Makes Rich
« on: February 06, 2024, 12:48:17 AM »
There has been constant and unending debate in this forum about the possibility of becoming rich through gambling. I want to rejuvenate the debate by stating clearly that gambling can make someone rich. Someone uploaded his winning ticket on Twitter and this has generated diverse interest regarding gambling. This person staked #200 and won 23 million naira in Bet9ja. If not for gambling, what job can such a person do to get such an amount of money? The luck has fallen on him and if he is wise he can make more money by investing in productive business and not increasing his stake.

Below is the ticket:

This withstanding we should approach gambling with caution and an understanding of the associated risk. Remember not everyone will be lucky.

What is your opinion on this winning? Has this changed your mentality regarding gambling? Do you think people can become rich through gambling?
