Today could have been the 68th birthday of Hal Finney, the man who received the first ever Bitcoin transaction personally from Satoshi Nakamoto.

Finney was a well-known crypto activist. In the early 1990s, in addition to regularly sending messages to crypto-punks using Listserv, Finney wrote sought-after code integrating encryption tools into a special free email distribution software, remailers.

In 2004, Finney wrote the first "Multiple Proof of Work" algorithm prior to the creation of Bitcoin. In January 2009, Finney became the first recipient of a transaction on the Bitcoin network.

According to one version, Finney is the very creator of the first cryptocurrency.

The memory of Hal Finney will remain associated with Satoshi and Bitcoin forever. The history of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies cannot be mentioned without mentioning Hal Finney and his enormous contribution to their development, recognition and acceptance around the world.

It is known to everyone that the first Bitcoin sending transaction in history took place in 2009. When Satoshi Nakamoto’s sent 10BTC to Hal Finney’s. This was the first cryptocurrency transaction.

This was the true beginning of the launch of Bitcoin and Satoshi’s dream of a peer-to-peer currency, which might not have seen the light of day had it not been for Hal Finney’s enthusiasm, adoption of the idea, and his great contributions later.

I honestly still think that he was Satoshi Nakamoto. One of the weirdest "coincidences" that we could find is that one of his neighbors have Nakamoto last name, and another one down the road at a shop has Satoshi first name. This is documented fact, and he has been so much help for bitcoin world, maybe he thought "if I am quite often active in it, and chat with "satoshi" then people would assume that I am not" and thats why he was so open in the public, acting as if he wasn't satoshi himself. Whatever was the situation, he was quite amazing.

I myself also think that Hal is the person closest to Satoshi, and is the person with the highest probability of being Satoshi, even though we have a lot of evidence to the contrary and Hal has also denied this possibility. At the same time, it would be better for BTC if Satoshi no longer existed, meaning that BTC is not under the strong control of any individual.

I admire Satoshi's talent, but I also cherish Hal's contributions to BTC. Hal dedicated the precious last years of his life to the development of BTC, and Hal's important contributions will always be a part of the Bitcoin protocol. Hal will always be remembered in the BTC and crypto community!

Among some well-known personalities that got associated with Satoshi Nakamoto and Bitcoin, Hal Finney is a giant name that will always be known for his many solid contributions to the eventual development of this digital currency...and the whole cryptocurrency industry salutes and recognizes the man as one of the those who paved the way for Bitcoin which the whole world is now using and enjoying. No wonder that there are those who are still suggesting the idea that the real Satoshi Nakamoto is no other than Hal Finney himself and in this case we would not anymore see and witness the possible comeback of Satoshi as Hal is already dead. On the man's birth anniversary, let's all remember with gratitude Hal Finney as a hero for Bitcoin and the whole cryptocurrency industry where we are deriving many benefits from.

Alas, we will never know the truth, everything on the internet is just speculation by the authors of the articles and nothing more. No one claims anything in particular. There are plenty of articles about the real Satoshi - but where's the guarantee that it's him? That's right, there's no guarantee. It's a secret that no one will ever know.

P.S. And how many articles were there in which the author pointed out who the real real Satoshi really was. And then, refuted their own written articles.  ;D

Hal Finney's contribution to not just the emergence of bitcoin, but also to its growth and the growth of the entire crypto currency ecosystem can't be undervalued, he was and remain a true hero, the majority do not know who Satoshi is in person, but this man here, seems like the only person who potentially knew who Satoshi is or was in person, where ever the history of bitcoin is being discussed, and Hal Finney is not mentioned, then truly, that discussion is either incomplete, or completely biased.

It's very unfortunate that death took him too early, he should have loved for maybe 80 or 90 years of age before leaving, but all the same, we can't question his creator, for the creator knows best what we ourselves do not know.

May his soul continue to rest in peace.
This man called Finney, has written his name in the sands of time, and for ever will be remembered as far as bitcoin continue to exist.

Finney will always be the person most remembered by anyone in the crypto industry. Because apart from that he was the first recipient of bitcoin from Satoshi. He is also a person who has high hopes or a person who believes Bitcoin will be very valuable in the future. An example is that he has prepared bitcoins to pass on to his children. He was an important figure who deserves to be remembered.

Hal is the closest real satoshi to be honest. Not CSW and it's no debate that he's been part of it from the start until it starts to be in the mainstream. Since satoshi is a pseudonym and the English writings of his are perfect, all of those clues that relates to Hal as the real satoshi has a higher chance. But being a genius, this has left us a huge mystery that's no one will be able to solve or who knows in the future if Hal's family will admit that he's satoshi with proof, I hope that day comes.

I mean even if he isn't Satoshi, he definitely contributed enough to say that he was a co-founder of it, since there isn't really any business r anything out there and there isn't anything that can put their name on it, we can't really say it officially, because there is no official stuff. But considering how much he contributed, we could say that he had nearly as much as Satoshi, even if not that much, it was a huge one. So saying that even if he wasn't Satoshi (which I am not convinced at all) we could say that he was at least a good chunk of contributor that made it possible and maybe Bitcoin wouldn't be possible without him.
