I think cutting off the source of fund is one of the best ways to help them indirectly. If he borrows money and I know that he'll likely use it to gamble, I wouldn't give him any. Maybe I can consider if he only asks for loose change.

I think rehab is the only way a gambling addict can be treated fully unless he will personally refrain from it and do something to really avoid further involvement with gambling activities. A gambling addicted must have this diversional technique for him to  divert his mind from doing such activities and focus on something else. No one can really help a gambling addict except himself and through counselling from rehab facilities.

There is no way that you can just help your friend by telling him. The gambler who is addicted to gambling should go to rehab and spend a few months or years there with the help of professionals. I am not sure how expensive it is, but this is the only way to stop an addiction because you cannot do it on your own. Ive seen a couple of people that went through rehab, and most of them got rid of their addiction.

For some people it is small enough that if they see a doctor once a week then they will be better, for some it is big enough to stay at a place for a few weeks or even a couple months to get better. I don't know if you know many drug addicts or alcoholics, but a lot of them go to rehab and a lot of them do well for a bit after getting out. The problem is, most of them relapse and end up going right back into the same activities they were doing that sent them to rehab.

A person is only going to change if they want to change. If they are your friend, try to spend more time with them and occupy their brain with something other than gambling. Show them there is more out there.

For someone who is addicted to gambling, I don't think advice will suffice, they need professional help to trace the symptoms of how deep gambling addiction got a hold on them, and the only way to help your friend is to get him into a professional because the professionals are the people who can help them laid out a plan of treatment.
You may help should part of the cost if you are that serious about helping your friend because a gambler's rehabilitation will cost money talk him out and urge him to undergo rehabilitation and you also helped his family.

You cannot cure a gambling addict except he accepts that he is an addict. This is likened to the saying that you can take a horse to the river but you cannot make it drink. It means you cannot help an addict unless he agrees that he needs help. This is the first step.

If he accepts this then the next step is that he should deactivate all his Betting Apps and unfollow all the gambling-related pages and sites he follows on social media. Remember out of sight is out of mind.

Introduce him to programs that will help him heal because addiction is a problem and some programs have been designed by some psychologists and counsellors to help people dealing with addiction. He should join such programs with a positive mind that is, make sure you are devoted to attending the programs because revival comes from attending and abiding by the guidelines that will be given.

It is not possible to completely eliminate any addiction, but if there is good behavior in the environment and harmonious relations, people can definitely get rid of any harmful addiction. That's very correct mate, because you telling the addicted person or advising him won't help me at all because their is always the taught of trying again on their mind even after a very heavy loss and that kind of person can only get help from a place that only professional I that field operate which is a rehabilitation center. Gambling addiction is similar to being addicted to drugs because the urge never goes away and even as they know very well that they are harming themselves it doesn't stop there so advice is not an option but an active rehab center Is just the way but the only issue here is the funds to sponsor it because I know over here that such services are really expensive.

I think it depends. If that certain friend is looking to change their life and overcome their addiction, I am willing to give a hand and do everything I can to help them. Because I know that the decision to help themselves should always come from themselves first. If I don't see anything that my friend truly wants to make a change in their life, I'm not sure how much I can do to help them.

I'd advise you to mind your own business, and only give feedback or suggestion if the person in question asks for it.
It applied to other bad habits as well such as alcohol addiction, being overweight, being whore/player, etc. You never know if the person in question hates you because you intervene in their life. So many sad horror stories arise because they bear a grudge against you, remember their brain isn't working properly to begin with.

And if and only if they ask for feedback or suggestions via deep talk, then you can start to slowly give them positive reinforcement and support and then forward them to the professional. It's not your job to fix anyone.
