Title: What to do when the market is volatile?
Post by: dragononcrypto on December 22, 2020, 11:44:56 AM
We've seen Bitcoin drop from a high of $14K to a low of $12K for an almost 10% drop in price. For some this is an opportunity to buy more Bitcoin, while for others it's a moment to worry over short-term losses. What is your strategy when the price corrects given the current market? Buy or sell?

It depends, if at that time you didn't have time to buy cheap BTC then now is a good opportunity to buy it. But the concern comes for those who have bought at a high price, maybe they are also currently hesitating, whether to sell or not?

but for me personally now is a good opportunity to buy before BTC reaches its highest ATH again.

I don't know why people always FOMO when the market goes up, and they chasing every green candle and buy in a very bad position. While you can wait until the market has a correction and find a good entry to enter the market.

It depends on individual but I think price drop is an opportunity to accumulate at the bottom, at every new all time, I prefer to sell off and remove my funds and then buy back at the bottom. It has been the tradition of Bitcoin and always work for me.
Some traders and investors prefer doing dollar cost average since they prefer there fund to always be in bitcoin. Whatever works for you, I hope you make profits, you don't hold for years and end up making just some changes.

The market will be always volatile, we cannot avoid it. But we can take advantage of learning the characteristics of the crypto market. Once we know it, we can know how to play the game. Market volatility isn't a bad thing if we know how to handle it or deal with it. It is the chance to gain big profits with high volatility. So, don't be afraid of volatility, know how to take advantage of volatility.    :)

Cryptocurrency market is always volatile. We can't avoid volatility. As an investor, my activity depends of the coins that i hold. If i have hold Bitcoin, i just relax and buy more amount to fill my bags but if it is altcoins which is more than top 50 ranks, i sell them if i am in profits and wait for more amounts to buy and fill up my vacuum wallets or i purchase more the reduce average purchase cost. I am still happy with this strategy but holding shitcoins has destroyed my huge investments at first. Panic sell isn't expected to any market.

When the market is volatile it is best to day trade. As of this post Bitcoin price is still at peak so buying is not ideal. Maybe wait for a bit dip and then jump in. Buy low sell high still works so I expect a lot of investors right now are just waiting for a good timing.

The standard of many people is simple. Buy when the price is low or go down, sell when the price goes up. But actually apart from that there are more detailed considerations

The fact is that even at the beginning of 2020, many cryptocurrency users were very skeptical about the growth of Bitcoin and Ethereum, relying on the fact that people are very reluctant to invest their funds in cryptocurrencies, since they already gobbled up in 2017 and 2018, when they invested at too high prices before falling. But the situation today is completely different and those who invested in early 2020 have already received huge profits today.

If you invested in bitcoin at high price for example at $30k and the price went down to $25k, there is nothing to worry about since we know that bitcoin is the crypto that will not lose the value. Aside from relaxing it could be better if you buy more while price is at cheap level and wait for the coming bull run.

Institutions are now investment in bitcoin which is pretty sure bitcoinwould never go into wrong direction.

That's right, buddy, what you are saying is the truth in crypto, there is no need and fear that the value will go down because in time it will also go up.
yesterday bitcoin price has reached ATH several times continuously, and clearly a sign of something good about bitcoin.
even though it is currently down, the trend is still good and will definitely increase again.

Buy or sell?

I like to use the buy low and sell high formula because I am a day trader. When markets a volatile it's a profit opportunity for day traders because we can't earn much from a stable market. So personally I like to deal with a volatile market though it is too risky, but the more risky, the more profit.

Exactly, when I was still new in trading with less trading  knowledge I always thought when market is volatile that when you make good profit due to the trivial knowledge I've about crypto trading I mostly end up selling in dip die to panicking of losing my funds.
And later on still find that same coin among top gainers the previous hours or days. That why is always good to have good knowledge and skills in trading.

If your knowledge of trading is extensive, it is good to keep up with cryptocurrency trading because you will surely have good earnings here. But if you're not deep in trading, it's better not to keep up because, for sure, you'll have a hard time getting good earnings.

You know that in crypto trading, the assets are very volatile, and the risk is also high. The market is also very unpredictable, so it is difficult to predict where the price value of the coin we will trade will go. Such is the trend and movement in the market.

This topic is a long time ago so for the time being related to this topic I made some comments on the current price of Bitcoin. When the market is in a downmood i.e. when the Bitcoin market starts to decline, I start investing in Bitcoin using the DCA method. Again when the market is in an up mood i.e. when the Bitcoin market starts pumping then I start selling Bitcoins exactly as I invested in the DCA method. But I never invest my capital all at once.
But after investing in Bitcoin if Bitcoin falls further I don't get upset and wait until the market recovers. Investing and holding Bitcoins must be patient and wait for good times otherwise one cannot expect to get good profits from the investment.

This post is still relevant, I bought when the price fell, I held BNB and Solana, at that time the price of Solana was below $40 and in 2021 it looks like ATH was reached, long term investment will produce profits, but choosing a good coin is necessary when market conditions are bearish

The crypto market is characterized by high volatility, and this is not a bad thing because it offers the opportunity to generate extremely large profits every 4 years, something that is difficult to do in the stock or real estate markets. After looking at the stock prices of Netflix or SVB bank, I'm not sure that crypto is more dangerous than US stock  :D

Normally I don't take action when the market fluctuates too much. I will watch to understand what's going on in the market, then make predictions and trade based on what I know. I am not an intraday trader, so it is not too difficult buying in bottom zone (DCA buy) and selling in top zone (DCA sell).

Yeah, Actually, crypto volatility is not that bad as long as we can respond to it well. In fact, perhaps this could be used by some traders and investors to get lower prices. Crypto volatility itself might be used for short trading. Even though the risk is very high, for professionals this will be challenging and also provide high profits too. high risks, high returns. it will always be like this. especially for those of us who do this for DCA or long term investment. In fact, price volatility doesn't really matter as long as we are really patient in waiting for the price to match our desired target. So don't worry and don't panic about crypto volatility, especially Bitcoin or other top coins, as long as they aren't Shit coins.

I tend to feel more anxious because if I buy Bitcoin at a price of 16,000 USD the fear is very strong because I am afraid it will drop again to the price of 8,000 USD.
Anxiety is higher than courage and I really felt this because I once bought Bitcoin at the highest price and then the price fell.
But when the market went up again, that feeling disappeared and it was very difficult for me to take profit because I was complacent from accumulating the + in my Binance account, and wanted to continue selling it at a high price, my greedy nature was still there and was difficult to get rid of.

The high price volatility of cryptocurrency is exactly what attracts most traders to this market. True, price movements in the cryptocurrency market are quite difficult to predict. However, profits can be made by observing large cycles of rising and falling prices, rather than engaging in day-to-day trading.

Buy more at a discount is my choice.
Because with fluctuating coin prices, it is the right time to buy.
Moreover, the coin fell so deep or dumped due to many factors, it could be that the coin also had a Flash Pump.
But if you don't have a strong mentality, you shouldn't follow my method because this is very extreme and very dangerous.
Especially with minimal experience, a fragile mentality, no education, buying altcoins that are not in the top 100 is very dangerous and could result in these altcoins becoming Dead Coins.

When it is in dip, it is the chance to buy crypto coins as many as possible. But most people think it is the sign for the end of crypto coins, so they feel afraid to buy crypto coins. Now, the price already increased a bit, they want the price to drop again significantly to buy. It is something impossible, the price will continue to increase gradually.

I don't know why people always feel afraid to buy although they already experienced the same trend in the last season. I think many people have weak mentality as an investor.

The current condition of exchanges is that many coins have prices going up, whereas if you want to buy coins, first make sure that the coins you want to buy are in the top 10 of the coinmarketcap list so that the price movement is quite clear. Never enter newly developed tokens if you don't want to take risks. losses that have the potential to attack you.

Also, make sure to buy coins with capital that is not being used too much in the near future, because when you are stuck at high prices, you will not be afraid and will be calmer.

Market is drive by two things, emotion to not miss out and fear of it going down after buying. However, you should never be worried of what will happen because they always grow in value even when they go down, as long as you do a proper research on the assets that you buy, when bull run comes, you will get back your profits in double but first, you need to be patient enough to enjoy it.

Another thing you should bear in mind is you obviously need to be a diamond hand, hold very well even when market is extremely volatile. It's even better to not to look at your wallet because if you are not to strong, you will contemplate to even sell them but in tbe long run, they are worth it.

Basically, I don't focus on the digital world, but because my friend told me about cryptocurrency, I finally learned about Bitcoin et al.
But if I have a little more money than my salary, I deposit it in the local market and then save by buying Bitcoin in installments, even though the value is small, I try to buy Bitcoin, because Bitcoin has been my main choice since I got to know cryptocurrency.

we have to try to catch it, by collecting coins whose prices fluctuate.  For this reason, we need to observe this in order to maximize good market conditions.  With the aim of buying and saving coins that have a stable price.

With the aim of buying and saving coins that have a stable price.
Maybe you made a typo here? There's no reason to buy a coin with a stable price if your goal is to make an investment and get profits. I believe most people would rather trade volatile assets as long as they can manage the risk instead of accumulating assets with a stable price (USDT, USDC, as an extreme example). If medium/long-term profits are your goal, you still want to look for undervalued assets that are likely going sideways/volatile instead of those stablecoins.

Another thing you should bear in mind is you obviously need to be a diamond hand, hold very well even when market is extremely volatile. It's even better to not to look at your wallet because if you are not to strong, you will contemplate to even sell them but in tbe long run, they are worth it.
Another suggestion is to set a sell target. Holding your coins when the market is rough is fine, but there's no harm in selling some of your holdings if the market reaches its peak. I made the mistake of holding my coins for too long and failed to capitalize on when the bull market was at its peak to sell them. I'd probably have at least triple my current capital if I navigated the market properly instead of holding and hoping for another 100x from a $100M coin.

The only way to deal with the volatility is to hold your coins for long term. I am not talking about some shit random altcoins, I am talking about those that are well known and at the top of the market, with a strong community and being constantly developed. Yeah, you can spread your investment to different coins, but the more altcoins you invest in, the more risk you are at suffering from huge losses. Invest most of your coins in bitcoin and ethereum, and in the long run you will be making some good profit. Never go all in on other random altcoins! Another way to deal with volatility is to take advantage of the volatility to make profit, but the risk here is also high but with some quick nice returns.

When we come to bitcoin investment using the DCA method, market volatility becomes less of an interest to us. Because we only fill bags according to a routine schedule. But if we invest in Bitcoin in a bearish market, the Average Down method can be applied. And it seems that in a volatile market this method is the right one. Unfortunately, I only discovered this method when Bitcoin continued to increase. So I can't apply it and can only accumulate with DCA. So my choice in a volatile market is to sit back and watch it and buy gradually.

If you want to start investing in Bitcoin, now is the time because at the beginning of the year the price of the Bitcoin market increases, let's look at previous years, when Bitcoin was priced below $10,000 at the end of the year towards the beginning of the year, the Bitcoin price started to rise until now Bitcoin is still at a price of $40k and above. This is the time to look for big profits from the current situation.

But its your choice and I also think that this is good option to have since having those top altcoins in your choices will get you more better result especially if we are heading on altcoin season since there's huge chance that you can earn from those coins you hold. But lets not forget about bitcoin since it can give us more better insights or profit since there are a lot of people speculating a good pump for this so to bad for us to miss some good opportunities if bullish season for bitcoin happen.

Market volatility is always present and market volatility is very normal so it is better to take market volatility as normal. When the market goes down a lot after an investor has made an investment, that investor does not get depressed but waits for better times. There is volatility in the market that is why investors invest so much in the market. If there was no volatility in the market, investors would never have invested. It is normal that the price will decrease and then the price will increase, but beyond that, we have to try to understand the market. When we understand the market, we will be able to sell our investment and invest again according to the movement of the market, thus reducing the risk of our money.

If time could be turned back again when you say the level of $12K at that time in 2020, and look at the following year, Bitcoin became ATH at a price of $68K, no one would deny it.

This is certainly a natural concern, when someone dares to buy at a discount then he will gain for the long term as long as the HODL is still strong, but people who have doubts will think about short-term losses but don't see how Bitcoin grows in the future, but that's probably someone else's first. I've thought about it and seen what the previous cycle was like.

Some people say that bitcoin is expensive now even though the lowest point will be $22K in 2022, who will dare to buy at a more discounted price at that time? So he has now more than 150% if he holds again it will double.

make sure to buy coins with capital that is not being used too much in the near future, because when you are stuck at high prices, you will not be afraid and will be calmer.

that's true, I think better to invest in crypto use free money or as you said the money that's not being used too much in the near future.

If time could be turned back again when you say the level of $12K at that time in 2020, and look at the following year, Bitcoin became ATH at a price of $68K, no one would deny it.

You can go back to the pandemic, March 2020 when the price goes down hard to $3k. But that is a halving year and so it doesn't matter if we have a global crisis, after the halving we all know what happen next we reach new all time high.

That is the key, we should learn how to read between the lines and take advantage of every dip buy, HODL for a long term and just sell when it's necessary. Otherwise, keep it to your wallet and time the market.

Some people say that bitcoin is expensive now even though the lowest point will be $22K in 2022, who will dare to buy at a more discounted price at that time? So he has now more than 150% if he holds again it will double.

Those really don't know or understand that volatility can be there friend. In this cycle, the lowest low is $15,500 and now look at where the price is, it's also triple already.
