Title: Cryptocurrency recommendations in 2022 – how to start?
Post by: coffeehead on February 18, 2022, 02:57:50 PM
Hey all,  :)
I have already scrolled through some of your “prophecies” for crypto to invest in 2022, but since I am relatively new to this I’d have an all general question. I feel like there are so many different cryptocurrencies out there, some quite established and some new-comers with good ideas (just heard of a few at university). Is it better to start with something long existing or should I give a chance to ideas that might shape the future?
Do you have any opinions on this?
Thanks a lot!  8)

There is a lot of speculations in this forum about coins or tokens for possible investment potential for the year 2022. Some of the possible innovations that doing well for potential investors are the metaverse, web 2.0 and GameDeFi projects. If you can do your research very well, you will have some projects to invest in for this year.

understand what you are going to start now, know what you will choose
start with old coins if you already understand the rhythm of new crypto you can try new coins (not recommended because old players are also still reluctant to participate in new coins)
note: you must be ready to lose if you have started to enter in crypto

I think metaverse will shine at this year 2022.
Maybe web 3.0 too.
But I personally prefer in metaverse coins, have bought several metaverse coins and will hold until bitcoin halving 2024.
Hopefully I will get big profit at 2024.

Of every year we are talking about the potential, maybe the booming and hype projects become the first thing to think about. But commonly, the hype projects will only stay and survive during the year itself, not be able for long term.
So, if you are searching for potential coins for short term, maybe the coins from metaverse or NFT or games will be promising. But not sure because there are also many shit coins around.,

One thing I have seen in recent years, new products and ideas do not guarantee the project will be popular, but the large number of community members make this project successful in the future, cryptocurrency in 2022 is still dominated by NFT, GameFi, Metaverse and Web 3.0
what makes me surprised is that there are several projects that have ideas but no utility because the products are not yet finished, strangely this project is in great demand by investors because of the idea, I am looking for a real product project from 2017, although some projects ended in failure because the developer did not continue the project , but I can choose which coin is good for long term

Easiest way for dive in is following the trends imo. Currently metaverse projects are very popular and some of them are really interesting to be honest. I've been following Lifetise, they have very solid methods and ideas to show how you could manage your financial situations in virtual world. Like how to afford a house? Isn't that sound unique!?
The cryptocurrency market is very diverse and in order for investing in cryptocurrency to be successful, you need to know how it works. It is well known that the least risky investment is the cryptocurrency with the highest capitalization, i.e. those listed at the top of the CoinMarketCap table.
Following current trends, as some here suggest, is not exactly a good idea. The hype around the next trend can end quickly, so in any case, before investing, you need to study the investment object very carefully.

And what are you looking for in the world of cryptocurrencies, what exactly do you want to find. The choice is always yours. Try to take part in IDO, try it and see the result. What exactly are you good at, staking, buying NFTs, for profit or just investing in cryptocurrencies.

I think you should learn about investment management. To be safe, you can invest in BTC & ETH, also you should divide a small part of your investment into new projects because they have high technology and attract new cash flows from the crypto market.

How about dividing it up something like:

50% - Low Risk eg. BTC
30% - Medium Risk eg. ADA
15% - High Risk eg. VET
5% - Moonshots eg. SHITCOINS

yes, this sounds very unique... of course I am very curious about the world of metaverse and web 0.3 .. will there also be a wedding there? Of course I have to have a lot of coins if I want to get all of them, like buying a house, car and land ;D

You have to decide by yourself which cryptocurrency projects are best to invest in, for example, now there is a bearish trend and the prices of cryptocurrencies have fallen very much, and for example, a long time proven way to make a profit is investing in top cryptocurrencies or you can invest in new cryptocurrencies, but for this you need very carefully study every new cryptocurrency project.

If you are new in this crypto and want to invest, I recommend in the top coins in the market because less risk and still you can make profit. Investing in the new projects can be profitable but it is so risky because many them are scam projects.. So you have to be careful when choosing a project to invest.

I usually bet on those tokens who are either under seed, strategic or private sale like between $50 to $100 worth per project. The only downside of it is that the vesting period is too long like an average of between 6 to 18 months. I don’t bet much on those that are under public sale despite the vesting period is kinda between none to just a few months. If either of them can get at my targeted price, I would pull out my initial capital first for those tokens who are into vesting period (but I’m pulling out all if there’s no vesting period and into good profits). After all, profit is profit. That’s my strategy right now with risk management.

People who dare to take risks, they will definitely choose new things that have not existed before, this will have its own challenges and of course if our choices are right then we will generate big profits.
But not a few of us do not want to take a high risk and instead of wanting to minimize losses, they will choose something that has been around for a long time.

First, if you take a look at their website, very not professional. Lack of details, and most of the content is about their sale, lol. They don't even have whitepaper. They can go into fundme websites and have the people support them through donation if they are real and not a scam. In the past, I have seen projects that have their proposals and focused industry to work with but many have failed.

I do not advise beginners to take risks and immediately invest in new projects. This can only be done if you are absolutely sure of the profitability of their coin or token. But in cryptocurrencies, you can’t be sure of anything. Any trend can easily be reversed. Therefore, it is better to start investing with coins with a high level of capitalization in order to study this market in parallel, or at least with small amounts.

Honestly speaking, there is no forever coins here that will give a nice profit. Maybe this will depend on how your gonna handle it, but all coins here in the cryptocurrency has their risk level. I remembered 2017 ICO became very trend and a lot of the community in the crytpocurrency missed it only few of them believed in that aspects. Then, after a years IEO arise, Defi, followed by NFT under by metaverse and etc. So, the best still to begin here is start with the trading not investing into a new projects.

Every be business have risk, But It depends on your knowledge and experience.
If you are have good experience to choose new project, I think It's more profitable than old coins.
But I suggest you to invest in bitcoin and Ethereum, Those are more safe.
I recommend we always invest in top 10 coins.

Agreed! Especially investing on those  project that are launched by different popular IDO launchpad always bring good profit for investor . But getting the slot of IDO allocation always become hard now a days except staking  a certain amount of their token on their own platform . But still if we try whitelist , everything works fine.

If you are brand new to this, I would advise you to proceed cautiously at first. You can minimize the risk of investing if you diversify. But if I were you, I wouldn't invest anything that you can't afford to lose. You can also find out if and how you can get coins without having to spend money.

True enough. If all you care about is profit, that's certainly not a bad option. But then it still depends on the right timing when buying and selling.

For me, however, it is now also important that the cryptocurrencies I invest in are not climate-damaging. Some major currencies are just switching to "proof of stake" to become more sustainable. The problem seems to be that these currencies are more susceptible to manipulation due to the elimination of numerous computers. I find "proof of personhood" promising. Let's see if and how this method will establish itself!

@coffeehead you can give opportunities to already established and new projects, that is not a problem. What I would personally do is ask myself what my role will be with cryptocurrencies. Do you want to earn a few bucks fast?. Maybe you can play around with some meme coin. Do you want to learn from the roots how blockchain and cryptocurrencies work?. Read as much as you can and more.

If what you want is to learn and earn money, I recommend that you avoid meme coins and learn to know which projects can be successful, it is not easy, but with prior knowledge you will have things clearer.

This is absolutely true, because by choosing a top-ranked coin, the risk of loss can be minimized as little as possible. First we buy top-ranked coins, while we learn further later we can choose for ourselves which coins are good to invest, whether it's new coins or old coins we can judge for ourselves.

If you talking about to minimize the risk, I agree with you.
We should choose top coins.
Top coins is proven and  have big community.
But If talking about profit, double or triple profit we can choose new coins.
Even though We can gain more profit 100x if we can choose potential new coins, or buy when IDO.
It depends or your decision.

agreed,  I have invested in both.
Old coins especially top 10 coins and new project.
Top coins are low risk and more safe for hold.
New projects needs mor focus to research their projects
Because There are many scam projects.
New projects is more risky but also more profitable than top 10 coins.

If you have a friend who teaches you about this Crypto, then you can discuss with your friend how you should start investing here.
Because this cryptocurrency has a very high risk, you have to be extra careful to do it.
But if you don't have friends to discuss with, then choosing a top-ranked coin is the right and safe choice.

Good idea mate, web 3.0 and metaverse coins will be the trend at this year.
Maybe like NFT and defi at last year.
So we should buy and collect those coins, metaverse and web 3.0 coin will have good progress at this year and the next year.

The most hype crypto during 2022is started with NFT, Metaverse, and also Games. So, this may be a new era of another hype by purchasing and taking profits of the tokens or coins related to those three things. Moreover, today NFT is very popular combined with Metaverse with its great virtual life and also games that most people really love doing. Just we can do wisest and smartest analysis of some of those coins in order to know which project is actually potential adn valuable to invest

DOT is surely a good token to buy, but I don't know about Cosmos. I think if Cosmos isn't good enough, you are better to buy more established tokens such as ETH, BNB, TRX, XRP, etc. Holding unpopular tokens like Cosmos is too risky, we are better to avoid holding them. I suggest you buying more popular tokens, may be top 25 coins/tokens in CMC.

Hey all!
Wow thanks a lot for all the input – I needed some time to work through this :P
I’m aware of the risk and I love research, I just didn’t know where to start, because there are so many different coins, so thanks for the recommendations, tips and thoughts. I’ve came across most of you recommendations. After thinking it over and reading all this I will maybe split and go with some old and established/well-known and less risky coins, but also try out some new ones (as I am curious).  – so thanks for the suggestions for dividing I will consider this 😉
Most of you recommend trending coins – is this still a good point in time to invest into trending stuff or is it already too late because it is already quite big – have I maybe missed the best time to start with them?

For me, however, it is now also important that the cryptocurrencies I invest in are not climate-damaging. Some major currencies are just switching to "proof of stake" to become more sustainable. The problem seems to be that these currencies are more susceptible to manipulation due to the elimination of numerous computers. I find "proof of personhood" promising. Let's see if and how this method will establish itself!
I came across proof of stake but haven’t hear or read about proof of personhood could you maybe explain it a little closer? To be honest I do a lot to save our environment – I already felt a bit guilty to invest into cryptocurrencies when most of them do the contrary thing…

If what you want is to learn and earn money, I recommend that you avoid meme coins and learn to know which projects can be successful, it is not easy, but with prior knowledge you will have things clearer.
Thanks @freemind: I already try to read a lot, so yes my goals are learning, a little experimenting and hopefully also earning money I’d say 😊

My personal recommendation is the charity coins because every investment counts and it is helping the people in need as well. So I believe in humanity  :) lets do some investment in it as well.

Some Good charity coins I personally invested in are:
Safemoon
BitkidsCoins.

Check them out

Note: Please do your own research as well before investing.

Oh that sounds interesting as well thanks for that.

If you can't see into the future, you can never know for sure which projects are promising. But I agree with you that with a lot of knowledge you can develop a good intuition. Nevertheless, one should be aware that not all new projects that promise success will be successful in reality.

That's right. But only if the new coins are actually successful.

Tell me, do you have a 100% hit rate with your selection? I have already invested in promising cryptocurrencies, which then turned out to be unsuccessful. Even with a lot of knowledge, sometimes you're lucky and sometimes you're not.

I find that really likeable! Charity is definitely a good start. But there are also cryptocurrencies based on proof of personhood that are linked to the idea of a basic income.

Well, in this innovative proof of personhood procedure, all participating users have the same chance and opportunity to contribute to the functioning of the protocol - and to receive a correspondingly equal number of rewards. So you could say that these are democratic cryptocurrencies. There are already a few coins that use the method so far. However, I only have my own experience with Idena. There are puzzles to be solved during validation. It sounds unusual at first, but it's not really difficult for a human.

The year is still young. Many things will still change. And certainly not only for the worse. The question is whether you want to wait until there is an upward trend again before buying. Or whether to buy now and possibly sell again when prices rise.

While there are companies and users who make good donations to people in need, I would not recommend anyone to do what you have said. 99% of charity coins are scams, and the remaining 1% fall short of a minimum amount of funding to help people, even small organizations. If someone wants to help an organization to help people with problems, it is always better to do it directly with donations, not through "projects" that usually disappear.

I agree with you. I always keep some of my attention on established coins/tokens, but most of my attention goes towards new projects. New projects are becoming more professional (I don't waste time with meme coins) and are backed by companies (venture capital funds) with large amounts of money, they are not 100% safe investments, of course, but when they invest, these companies are doing part of our work, since the study they carry out before investing is really good.

What do you mean with “the idea of a basic income”? Is this really possible?

No matter if you support charity by investing or donate directly to certain companies and users, you should always check in advance exactly what it is about and if the money is really used for good causes.

You have to solve puzzles? That sounds funny :P what kind of puzzles are those? How do they make sure that a human is solving them?
These are picture puzzles. Here, several pictures have to be put in an order that results in a story that is logical for humans. How these puzzles work can be tested in a kind of demo version before the regular validations. Sounds more difficult than it really is.

What do you mean with “the idea of a basic income”? Is this really possible?
I think this definitely depends on the amount of the basic income. In this proof of personhood method, all participants have the same opportunity to contribute to the functioning and accordingly receive an equal number of rewards. So, the profits from regular mining are divided equally among the participants and everyone receives a reward on a regular basis. I do think that this can work.

Well, that's exactly what I mean. How many crypto projects directly related to donations to people in need and NGOs do you know?. Of projects that appear in forums and social networks, I think the answer is simple, 0. In all the years I've been in crypto (and it's quite a few years) I have yet to see any project publicly feature donation accounts, and that says it all.

I think the truth lies somewhere in between. I believe that diversification is very important, whether you are looking to hold for long-term profits, trade, or speculate on very new cryptocurrencies. So even if you are interested in newer, more risky cryptos, it is worth having some top 10 cryptos in your portfolio so that your overall risks are lower.

That’s an interesting point, the following question may sound stupid but: how can I find out if there is a bigger company investing into those projects?

There are many companies around the world that have invested in the past and continue to do so, as well as new ones. To find a list you just have to search on Google for example, since that list is very extensive. There are not only large companies, there are also small ones but leaders in various sectors. Among the best known is MicroStrategy (in addition to other very famous companies), Michael J. Saylor has one of the clearest and most precise visions and ways of reasoning about crypto from my personal point of view.

Oh ok I see. As it is a proof-of-personhood concept this is to verify you are no machine – can’t a robot already read the content of pictures?
Do you also have to solve these puzzles to invest/to buy coins of this cryptocurrency? And the other way round: Am I right, that you can simply be part of this and have a look how it works without really investing and money at first?

Yes that’s a thing that I have now taken with me within this discussion it is clearly in my mind, that I will split my investments.

If I look at the best moment, the first cryptocurrency to launch was from the Launchpad coin and the Launchpool Binance exchange.
Because if the token project from Launchpad and Launchpool Binance exchange is definitely also very supported by Binance, which one day the token will also provide very valuable value in the future.

In all the years I've been in crypto (and it's quite a few years) I have yet to see any project publicly feature donation accounts, and that says it all.
In real life, I don't know anyone who has invested in crypto projects that are related to NGOs or support those in need. That doesn't mean I don't think there is such a thing. I just believe, like you, that it's very rare that such projects are truly charitable when you examine them more closely.

I think we all see it that newer cryptocurrencies usually come with greater risks when investing. You see potential, but you don't know yet how the prices and the project will develop. Nobody can see into the future. I also see it as minimizing risk when you diversify.

But you don't have to invest money in all cryptocurrencies that you want to have in your portfolio. With some crypto projects, you can still mine something even as a single person.

In the future, robots may eventually be able to solve such picture puzzles. But not yet. It is probably already the case that bots can recognize individual elements of the images. But that's not the point of the picture puzzles at Idena. You have several pictures, which you have to put in the right order, so that the pictures make a logical story for humans.

The puzzles are created by the community. I think that if bots eventually become much better than they are now, the puzzles will certainly be adapted as well.

I know it's hard to imagine when someone describes it to you. But you can try it out without any obligation. Either at one of the validations or just to practice.

As far as I know, you can buy IDNA even if you are not validated. But I did it differently, because I wanted to become part of the community first, before I make a decision to invest.

Cryptocurrency investing can feel overwhelming at first and there is alot of information to take in. It is good idea to cover other financial bases before you buy your first crypto.
The fact that cryptos initially overwhelm you is probably the same for everyone when they first come into contact with them. But you don't have to invest large sums right away. The fact that you have your finances under control beforehand is also a very important prerequisite for me!

I've read a lot of topic here in the forum and even in the other forum platform as well too. Actually the majority of them they said Metaverse in the future will explode, this was according to their thoughts only and opinions of course. But on my side view, it is still better and good to invest into an old coins but always listed on top in the market.

Yeah, I also heard this year will be metaverse year.
Hopefully it will be.
I still hold several metaverse coins and will hold untill the next year, or maybe until 2024 when bitcoin halving.
Because I believe when bitcoin halving , crypto currency market will pump and the prices will soar.
Let's see.

If you new then start with small. Invest small amount of money then track the progress your investment. Make some strategy about your action with different circumstance. Its better to have some plan than no plan. Observe the market careful to understand how it move. Don't listen to others rely on your judgement about the market.

Tbh, they always respond to Bitcoin crashing. This is only one of the things I don't like in the crypto market. If there a way they can breakout from bitcoin controlling the market it will better for the crypto community.
Do you know Pera is an undervalued gem , because the marketcap is very small and there is no such project in avalanche it will surely do ×20 soon this is what I can recommende for you

Absolutely! I have an exact amount of money which I am luckily able to invest without getting into troubles of paying bills etc. I just need to figure out how to spilt and invest this extra money. So it is not really a need of investment or saving up to be able to invest – I just have some spare money and am highly interested in cryptocurrencies (also curious about all the things going on in the background not only money gambling ;)) But still it is overwhelming that’s true…

If you new then start with small. Invest small amount of money then track the progress your investment. Make some strategy about your action with different circumstance. Its better to have some plan than no plan. Observe the market careful to understand how it move. Don't listen to others rely on your judgement about the market.
Thanks for this tip, I think I will do this too in the beginning to develop a certain feeling for the investment.

On the blockchain, being first is extremely advantageous. There's a project named BitBrawl in the SOL ecosystem that is currently in development. I believe they will be able to grow quickly if they stick to the large p2e project plan.

Everyone that invest here, I think they started in small money.
Joined bounty or have own money then invested in crypto currency.
Learning and do  research before invest.
Because crypto currency is high volatile and unpredictable.
We should have good experience.

If you really like here to earn in the cryptocurrency business, well I guess, it is better to do your own research.
At least in that way you can find out how good or bad to stay in this industry anyway. Because crypto space is a place where your capital could be in danger or lucky, depending in the action your going to make. If you do it in a right way, for sure in the end you will reap or gain for sure.

Hey,
Thanks again for the advice! I have of course also done some research on my own, but I like to get some different meanings, suggestions etc. – I for sure know, that in the end the decision is on me where I will invest and I won’t ever make anyone responsible for anything they advised online ;) I was just curios.

So I had some time to try out and make some investing plans…. At the moment the whole market is going down, so I decided to wait a bit on investing.
Or would you suggest that exactly know could be a good time to invest (hoping it will go up soon again…)?

But I tried out the proof of personhood validation with Idena that was mentioned here (just to get to know this thing a little closer). It was quite fun actually :) I just wonder @mustela do I have to get an invitation code the next time as well? (thx)

BNB, SOL, DOT, ADA, I think those are very potential coins and I recommend those will have great future.
It's bearish season, I think It's a good time to buy and hold.
I also hold other coins, such as Polygon matic.

You should always have a plan. I think even if you invest in cryptocurrencies just for fun, you should have strategies for different scenarios. The value of cryptocurrencies can fluctuate a lot and not every moment is good for buying and selling.

If one should not listen to others at all, I don't know. But one should distinguish between facts and opinions. You can listen to opinions. But I would make my own decisions based on facts.

Tbh, they always respond to Bitcoin crashing. This is only one of the things I don't like in the crypto market. If there a way they can breakout from bitcoin controlling the market it will better for the crypto community.
At the moment. But I don't think it will stay that way permanently if different cryptocurrencies are used regularly in everyday life. And which coins will establish themselves, we'll have to wait and see. I think that some underestimated cryptocurrencies will also get the chance to develop their potential. For example, Idena's voting mechanism could be generally used for voting of any kind in the future.

That’s a good point… I like the idea of seeing how it works and getting a closer look into the community before investing. My only problem (as always :P) is time… can you guess how long this puzzle solving takes? Approximately?
Validations currently take place every three weeks. I have never looked at the clock exactly how long a session lasts, but I would say about half an hour. You have to take your time, but it really doesn't take long. You can also invest without participating in the validations. Only if you want to mine, you have to be part of the community.

But I tried out the proof of personhood validation with Idena that was mentioned here (just to get to know this thing a little closer). It was quite fun actually :) I just wonder @mustela do I have to get an invitation code the next time as well? (thx)
So, how long did it take for you? You only need the invitation code the first time. But you have to complete four validation sessions in a row, only then can you miss a validation.

So I had some time to try out and make some investing plans…. At the moment the whole market is going down, so I decided to wait a bit on investing.
Or would you suggest that exactly know could be a good time to invest (hoping it will go up soon again…)?
You should really make your own decision. I personally believe that the world is changing a lot at the moment and that has an impact on the crypto market as well. However, I don't think that all cryptocurrencies will crash. Some will, some won't. And there will probably be opportunities for previously undervalued cryptocurrencies. If you want to add to and expand your portfolio, now may not be a bad time to buy.

I would advise you to start with long-existing coins that are quite safe in the bleeding market because we can expect long existing coins can survive the blood bath market as compared to new coins in my opinion. At present, I would advise you to consider Btc and Eth to start your journey in the cryptos, and slowly you can shift to other top high potential coins as you gain more knowledge about this market.

Yes that’s what I think as well. It’s good to hear different meanings and opinions as long as one is aware that they are exactly this: subjective meanings, not secure information.

The idena validation only took me about 15 to 20 minutes :), so that’s actually fine for me. Ok cool thanks for that information! I know that I now have to do it three times in a row, but it already caught my attention, I want to be a human :P So I will go on with this and try out some mining as well, I’ll see how it works and then invest (so far that’s the plan I made).
And yes apart from this I finally decided what coins to invest in. It’s going to be an exciting experience :D. Thanks a lot for all your help in here!

Perhaps, this will depend on your research of how good you are in terms of choosing coins here in the cryptocurrency.
And besides coinmarkecap is one of the good reference to seek a nice and potential altcoins too. Just the most important is that you have the money for you to be able to buy it, just simple as that.

Many experts are expecting a long crypto winter. Maybe we will see another bull season around 2024 or 2025. But there is a bear market that doesn't mean there will not be an opportunity. You can invest in a new base project. Just be sure not to be greedy when you are in profit. This is not a bull market so need to be careful as you have already mentioned.

We have to be careful when we just enter the Crypto business world, there are lots of temptations that can make us easy to lose.  If you want to start trading or investing, you should choose coins that have been proven to be good, such as Bitcoin, Ethereum and BNB.  While walking we can find out where else that has good potential to be able to provide great benefits to us.

In a bear market like this, no coin is good. People will lose money no matter how good they are at investing. The only thing that we can do right now is accumulate more coins. If we want to make money here, then we have to track every move of the whale and expect that we are playing on their side, not against them.

First of all, beginners need to learn how to invest in themselves, their discipline-to understand all the risks and the fact that they can lose everything.

Etherium and BTC are best project. Take no chance to faith. Since transaction costs are typically low, just buy them in dollar cost or value average manners.

Put $10 in today. If the  price goes down later evening, put another $20. If it goes up, put $10. Adjust the amount accordingly and keep going until you use up all the budget.

As a new comer, I would suggest you learn a little bit more about crypto before dipping even your toe in it. Maybe avid research for a month would help. You don't need to know everything. Just basic stuff. Also in way of investment, try to stick to high cap coins like the top 10 or 20 in the market cap log. Those coins are less likely to be volatile and won't rekt you. And most importantly, stay away from defi til you are ready

Investing in oneself will definitely do well in impacting them to know the risk that are possibly inherent in blockchain and cryptocurrency ecosystem. The only investment recommendation I give to all stakeholders is to find a position in among the top ten coins/tokens in terms of market capitalization.

Hey, maybe you will already write something yourself, and you will not engage in brazen plagiarism, copying and pasting someone else's text, without trying to fix it in any way!

Then what do you think it 's called ?? Was it difficult for you to write something from yourself? It's easier to copy someone else's message word for word and not even try to change it.
