Post by: CryptoGirl on November 04, 2017, 07:22:45 PM
A number of Blockchain enthusiasts have received emails from an address claiming to be MyEtherWallet.

The email prompt receiver to log into a fake version of MyEtherWallet. And thus be able to steal the receiver cryptos.

It's advisable to install the extension EtherAddressLookup and enable Warn of blacklisted domains. This is useful for me as most domains are blocked when I ignorantly click on a blacklisted adress.

Mostly from slack, they create website with address similar to MEW
For example rnyetherwallet.com

Only open MEW from our own bookmark

We all have to bookmark MEW for the phising issue. Also metamask is one of the safest way to login to MEW...
And Brave & Tor browsers for security issues...

As for me, i always using the easiest way to log in MEW with file key and i don't have any problem and fishing during 2,5 years. May be, because i carefully use a link, what i open and MAC OS more safety in this case.

I just moved to MAC OS a couple of months ago and so far I can say that its safe on MEW. I tried to be very careful not to click any suspicious link and get phished and cry later. I also get a MAC OS to get another layer of security. So far so good.

Any kinds of messages, emails from myethereumwallet website, then you should consider myethereumwallet a phishing website. Original myethereumwallet team management never pm or emails you.

Probably, a large percentage of MyEther Wallet users received such emails. Think, a notable amount of gullible users and crypto holders must have fallen for such. Only the informed and experienced ones identified immediately, it was a scam, a phishing link which could wipe out (steal) all holdings in a blink of an eye. MEW won't ask for such information. Ever.

Don't believe anyone or any websites where you are asked for private keys or phases. Myethereumwallet wallets authority never ask you any phases or or private keys.
