For some time now, I hardly hear anything about Poloniex. This exchange use to be one of the leading exchanges, making waves in the cryptoshere. What happened to it?

There was a DDoS attack on Poloniex. There was an access problem for about 5 hours.It was the most used stock exchange in 2014. But this popularity has disappeared until today.(5.12.2020)
In 2019, it was taken over by an investor group including TRON founder Justin Sun.It is actually a nice and fast stock market, but it doesn't have many users anymore.

Poloniex was a major exchange, especially in 2014, 2015 and 2016, but the emergence of Binance caused it to fall (like all exchanges) to stay in the current position after Justin's purchase.
Security related issues have also played a big role, users learn fast and seek safer alternatives for their funds.

Since the existence of binance and kucoin I haven't opened poloniex yet, how poloniex change now I haven't tried opening it again. I used to use poloniex for day trading, and poloniex is one of my favorite exchanges. and in my opinion it is rarely maintenance. but I don't know how if now.

As we already know, Poloniex continues to work, but after the purchase of Justin Sun it seems like a showcase for Tron and its tokens like Binance and Coinmarketcap. Something that I never understood is the reason why Poloniex suffered "inopportune" server crashes a few hours earlier after listing a coin/token that was going to have a big pump...

All-in-all, Poloniex has had a rocky past but has managed to maintain a relatively good reputation in spite of this. The exchange offers a great range of features, excellent volume, and asset variety — but its terrible customer service and lack of fiat options may be just too much for many users to accept.
