Cryptocurrency is a Lifeline for Lebanon
« on: June 02, 2023, 05:24:02 AM »
As someone who lives in Lebanon, I know firsthand how difficult it is to deal with the economic crisis that has been plaguing our country for years. The inflation rate is skyrocketing, the currency is collapsing, the banks are imposing strict limits on withdrawals and transfers, and the people are suffering from poverty, unemployment and social unrest. It is a nightmare that seems to have no end.
That’s why I was intrigued by a report by Invezz that says Lebanese turn to cryptocurrency amidst inflation-triggered economic turmoil. According to the report, many Lebanese citizens are searching for alternative monetary tools, including cryptocurrency, to preserve their wealth and access global markets. The report cites data from Google Trends that shows a surge in interest for terms such as “bitcoin”, “crypto” and “blockchain” in Lebanon.
I think this is a smart move by the Lebanese people, who are trying to find ways to cope with the situation and protect themselves from the financial chaos. Cryptocurrency offers many advantages over the traditional banking system, such as transparency, security, speed and low fees. It also allows people to have more control over their money and to participate in a global community that is not restricted by borders or regulations.
I have been using cryptocurrency for a while now, and I can say that it has helped me a lot in terms of saving, investing and sending money abroad. I think cryptocurrency is a lifeline for many people in Lebanon, and I hope that more people will adopt it and benefit from it
